In April 2013 we reported that Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Mazda announced a regarding faulty sensors that could affect the power with which an airbag inflator could deploy. At the time, Toyota said it would contact affected owners to schedule a time at a local dealer to inspect the suspect part and replace it, if necessary. Toyota has now decided to replace all the parts on the 2003 and 2004 Tundras, regardless of inspection results.
The specific models included in the recall update are Tundras built between late May 2002, and early July 2004. To find out if the Tundra you own or are looking at purchasing is in need of the parts change, you can go to www.toyota.com/recall or call 800-331-4331. If you have the vehicle identification number, a representative can tell you whether the vehicle is affected.
