The 2009 Galant gets front and rear styling tweaks, but the general shape of the sedan remains the same. Inside, the center control panel is busy-looking; the plastic trim pieces on the dash have various types of graining, which brings to mind a Chrysler product. That’s not a good thing.

For a midsize sedan, the Galant’s rear seat is especially uncomfortable — the bottom cushion doesn’t provide much in the way of thigh support. With competitors like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry offering roomy backseats, this is a glaring problem for this car.

The Galant has never been part of the discussion when deciding which midsize sedan is the best, and this 2009 model isn’t going to change that.
