Lexus will unveil an updated version of its popular ES sedan on April 20 at the 2015 Shanghai auto show. The brand released a teaser shot of the updated sedan, which appears to incorporate the LED swoosh from several other Lexus models.
The age and teaser shot suggest this will be an update, not a full redesign, but we won’t know for sure until April 20. Lexus didn’t specify the updated ES’ model year, but the timing suggests it will be 2016. That would be the fourth model year of the current sixth-generation car.
The first generation of the ES sedan debuted in 1989; it’s Lexus’ second-best-selling car behind the RX SUV. The updated car “maintains its classical elegance while conveying a more dynamic experience and luxurious craftsmanship,” Lexus says. That could signal an F Sport version of the ES, which remains one of several Lexus models that don’t have one.
