Cars.com’s long-term 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic test car is turning into an unexpected fuel-economy champ. The C300 recently logged 33.5 mpg on a long-haul road trip in the 6,700 miles since our last update, traveling 519 miles between fill-ups of premium fuel. Seeing 30-plus mpg in the C300 is impressive considering its highway rating is 31 mpg for all-wheel drive.
Editors strung together numerous 30-plus mpg fill-ups during the past 6,700 miles and bumped the lifetime fuel economy average from 26.02 mpg to 27.24 mpg. The 27 mpg observed average now matches the EPA’s combined rating for the C300 4Matic.
