Sure, everyone is concerned about greenhouse gasses, climate change, the environment and all that, but what lengths will this technology development go to?
The HumanCar Imagine, a vehicle powered by, well, people is hoping to be the next green technology. The Imagine has two electric motors powered by passengers sitting in the four seats. These passengers literally row on T-shaped handles to generate power for the motors, which hopefully would be no more strenuous than walking. Sorry — no running in place, a la Fred Flintstone.
The company didn’t exactly explain how you’d steer the vehicle, except to say that it turns through a system called “BodySteer.” What exactly this means is anybody’s guess.
The HumanCar will cost you $15,000 and appears to come loaded with hi-tech features, though they’re poorly explained on HumanCar’s website. Some of the car’s features include an iPod dock, stereo system, air conditioning and some kind of video “chat” system. All sound like they’d deplete all that hard-earned electric power your passengers are generating.
No word yet on the Imagine’s speed, safety features and whether or not you’ll have to travel everywhere you go with four people inside to power it.
