Do NOT make my mistake and buy a car through Big-C
Do NOT make the same mistake I did and buy a vehicle from Big-C motors in Linden. This is a 100% REAL and HONEST review. Here is my experience: I recently purchased a 2004 Nissan Quest minivan for $2700 before tax and fees. It was listed higher, but upon test driving the vehicle it was determined that it needed ABS sensors so we worked out a deal. Aside from that I was told the vehicle was totally sound with no known issues. Well… The VERY FIRST TIME I drove the van IT BROKE DOWN. It has a serious transmission issue leaving the van virtually powerless from a stop through first gear. It comes and goes and is incredibly dangerous to operate. I immediately notified David (owner?) and he said he’d “work with me” and then sent me to a mechanic he recommends. It was diagnosed as needing transmission speed sensors. I had new ABS and transmission sensors installed and it did not correct the issues. I was then told to go to a transmission specialist recommended by David. If issues were found with the transmission, David said he would credit me back for the van towards another vehicle on the lot. I went to the specialist, but the guy I was told to speak with was on vacation. The very next time I attempted to drive the van the alternator went and I broke down on the Turnpike. 3 hours, a push from the Turnpike Authority and a $180+ tow later, the van is back in my driveway inoperable. I was leaving for vacation the next day but I notified David to let him know that the van has broken down again, has another issue, and that when I return I’ll take him up on that credit that he offered. When I got back from vacation I went to the dealership to work with them on getting into a safe, operable vehicle. I didn’t expect to be reimbursed for all the work I’d done to the vehicle, the tow, the taxes, fees, licensing or the headache this his been. I just wanted a credit for what I paid for an INOPERABLE, UNSAFE vehicle from DAY 1 towards another vehicle. Instead, they offered me $1k as a trade-in towards something else. They treated me as if I were just some guy off the street trading in a busted down van. Rather than “work with me” and take back the VAN that BROKE DOWN with UNDER 10 MILES on it…they chose to go back on their word instead of doing the right thing. Big-C Motors are untrustworthy and unethical. DO NOT purchase a vehicle from this dealership.
