Buyer Beware!

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience here. We purchased an2015 Suburban from them in March and it needs a new 11k engine. They absolutely do not care, or take care of their customers. Buyer Beware!

Never trust a used car salesman

bought a car from Car City in August 2021 and everything was great the sales team was real helpful in transferring the car from Downing Auto sales to Car City on Merle Hay. unfortunately thats the extent of my positive feedback on the lot. Less than 4 months after driving off the lot i had a catastrophic event happen and was told by a mechanic that the engine blew and i would need a new engine Car City then informed me they would fix or get the car fixed and charge me $3500 so expecting a new engine or used one i was not informed what was being done to my car or when it would be done 3 months later i receive a call saying my car was ready and i could come get it so i showed up with my check and got no receipt listing what repairs were done or an itemized bill showing what i paid for. less than two months later the repair i paid 3500 for blew up and threw a rod through the engine and now ive had 2 engine failures in less than a year on a car that i paid $14,000 for and driven less than 6 months but have made almost 11 months of payments for . when the engine blew the second time i contacted my salesman who told me i needed to talk to Tony the manager and so i called him and never received a call back and was never told who worked on my car or exactly what they did. If you value honesty and integrity in you car buying i would not go to Car City you will probably just be throwing your money away

Best experience while car shopping

Scott Hampe helped me tremendously. He helped me get approved online, pick out my vehicle and get me in the vehicle of my choice within the timeframe I wanted. He provides drinks comfort and a great overall experience for my first time shopping at a car dealership in Desmoines! Not only did he sale me a car but he took care of me! Much appreciated Scott! I recommend to all!

President of office cleaning company.

I had communicated I text three times while on vacation about a used pick up they had on the lot. I checked the day before I went down to look at it and he said it was still there so I drove an hour down to look at it. Once I got there, he had to go back and look and saw that it had already been sold. Wasted a fair amount of time for something that could’ve been locked up ahead of time. Would not go back and I would not recommend. Aggravating

Sold the truck, tried bait and switch

Was in contact all afternoon with salespeople from dealership about a specific truck. Drive 2 hours to view the truck, even checking information about it along the way. When we arrived was shuttled into an office and told "oopsie! That car sold last Saturday." Unbelievable- we had just talked to people not less than an hour before. WASTE. OF. TIME......4 hours round trip.

Buyers beware...these folks don't care about the little things--we bought at nite and couldn't see a very minor issue so took back next day but they said it wasn't power train warranty so NO HELP!!! It was a small thing and very little cost but NO HELP!! Didn't offer to go over anything in the car either
