Beware!! Check everything!!!

I purchased a 2008 Mercedes Benz from this company a week ago. The first thing I noticed is that the steering wheel control ( that access mileage and diagnostics and many other things) didn't work. Garrett has told me this is not covered under there 50/50 30 day warranty. I also noticed that the tires one the car (although they have some tread) are cracked and manufactured 10 years ago. Which makes them unsafe to drive on. Garrett offer me rideable pricing on tires, of which he should have never sold the car with ancient tires. Garrett's response about the tires was "They may be old but they have thread" (see his response below) But now for the biggest misleading false advertisement of them all. In their ad (see photo) they claim the car has a "Brand New Transmission" they put an old used transmission in the car not new!! The transmission according to the repair shop I called was used and never even opened up to service, just installed in the car because he said that's what Allen Motors wanted. Also the car had about 25 trouble codes that I could not see myself breccia of the steering wheel controls being broken. I just hope they all don't cause me issues in the future. Please just be aware when purchasing a car from these guys. They don't live up to anything they say and lie in their ads. Make sure you check everything out on/in the car, including tires and all the buttons. Garrett said this is a personal friends car and it was babied! I wonder how many times he has used that line! This is the reply email I got from Garrett after asking him to cover some of my expenses 50/50. When I spoke to him on the phone he said that sharing the expenses sounds fair, but this is his response. He actually wrote that calling it a new transmission a typo 0. Here you go. This is his response copied from my email. Jeff, The Typo on the description hold no merit because you and I both went over the receipts, and you learned before you purchased the car that it was a rebuilt transmission and you even told me that you learned that it was a 3 month warranty. The tires may be aged but the tread is fine. I drove this car myself plenty and it drove beautifully. Your 30 day warranty does not cover buttons on the steering wheel so we are not responsible for that. I can offer you, through my wholesale connections, cost on tires and any mechanical repairs. Have a great day, Garrett Allen: Sales Manager Allen Motors Inc. 2594 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Thousand Oaks, CA, 91362 Ph: (805) 496-3370 Cell: (818) 292-5596 Fx: (805) 496-3372

Satisfied customer

Jim and Garret, at this family owned and run business, made the whole process easy for me, and they continue to stand behind their word. I was skeptical of a smaller, independent auto dealer at first, but they were referred by a colleague who has purchased at least five cars from here. He could not have been more right, as far as I am concerned, and I am very happy.

Don't trust, very unethical ! Promises never kept

I'm totally disgusted with this dealership ! All they care about is the dollars not the relationship ! They promise things that they can't deliver and stop returning calls !

I would recommend Allen Motors.

I recently purchased a 2009 Porsche Carrera S from Allen motors. I actually drove from Northern Ca. to purchase my car. I talked to Jim on the phone and let him know that I was interested and had been looking for several months and to be very up front, if there were any issues as I do not want to drive 7 hours for nothing . He assured me the car was perfect. After making the drive 7 hours I was a little concerned that they knew I had just driven all that way so they would not be willing to negotiate or feel they needed to give me good service. I was happily wrong as they answered all my questions tossed me the keys and said take it out and give it a good test drive. That doesn't really happen very often with a $100K car. Finishing up the deal they did negotiate on the price and made the buying experience a piece of cake. Once I returned home I took my Porsche into the dealer and had them check everything out and they came back with " it's flawless, Perfect shape" . Jim was right, it is perfect. I would go there again with out a doubt. Thanks Jim!

Need to make sure that car has been smog cert

I purchased a car there and within 1 month the "Service Engine Soon" Light came on the dash. It turned out that it had a defect which was the Oxygen Sensor part of the Smog system. By law, the seller has to have the car certified for smog. Apparently, this facility does not think so; because I called Rick at that facility and he informed me that I would have to pay for that. In my idea, NO OXYGEN SENSOR WILL GO DEFECTIVE 20 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO SPEND A LOT OF EXTRA MONEY FIXING ITEMS THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE, THEN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. DO NOT PURCHASE HERE!!!!!

Dealer response

The auto that this buyer purchased did pass smog and the certificate was used to register the car in this customers name. All of our vehicles do pass smog before being sold so we can register them in the new owners name,by law. All Smog Certificates are available for customers to view before purchasing a vehicle. Used vehicles sold AS-IS are just that, Used and AS-IS. Allen Motors has been in business for over 20 years and that's because we do business lawfully.

Jim you are the BEST Thanks

I sent some very close friends(they flew from Vegas to pick up the car) to see Jim on a car he had on the lot......they bought it sight unseen (other than the pics on the internet)...I've known Jim for a long time and when he said the car was right that's all I needed to hear....really a Good Guy..Ronnie F.

They don't care about your business.

I had called to make an appointment with a salesperson after the dealership had failed to respond to my e-mail through Cars.com. When I got to the dealership, the 1 ssalesperson there was on break, joking around with a friend who was getting his car detailed there. My wife and I walked around the lot and noticed a lot of the cars there had recently had body work done on them. When the salesperson got to us, we had to wait for the car we wanted to see get cleaned up. Upon a casual walk-around I saw that the drivers side lower trim was coming off. The salesperson casually remarked that that had just happened because they parked the car on the street and that it had been sideswiped. (Miraculously, the only damage was that panel. From a sideswipe!) We decided to test drive anyway. We were not allowed to do anything other than go in a straight line. 7 miles down a four lane city street in traffic is not, in my opinion, a great test drive. The whole time, the salesperson kept talking and wouldn't be quiet enough so that I could listen to engine noise. I think they are only interested in selling the 2 or 3 high end cars that they probably got at an auction and refurbished. I wouldn't ever give them business, mine or an acquaintance!
