Purchased a Honda Civic Hybrid touring in Dec 2024 from
Purchased a Honda Civic Hybrid touring in Dec 2024 from Schottenkirk. Having purchased more than a dozen new vehicles over the course of my adult life, this experience ranks close to, if not the very bottom. The salesman did not seem at all interested in selling me the vehicle. He was more interested in the fact that he lost his car keys which also contained the key to his "million-dollar" record collection in storage. He basically flat-out told me that he could not sell me the car without adding on the $1000 "protection package." The person handling the paperwork misspelled our address resulting in a delay receiving the title and registration. I brought the car back for the "complimentary" first oil change. Turns out this is free service is a benefit mandated by Honda, not something the dealer willingly gives out. I asked about some dings and curb rash while at the service appointment. I was told at the time of sale these were covered under the "protection package." I was bluntly told by a sales person that these issues were in fact, not covered by the $1000 "protection package." Then, after almost THREE HOURS (for an oil change), I was told that the vehicle could not be released back to me because it had never been properly registered as sold by the dealership in the first place. The service writer was sympathetic to my frustration, and basically said he is tired of the employees in sales making false promises. He said that the dealership went downhill seven years ago when it was bought out. I'm sure there are Schottenkirk customers who are happy with their sales and service experience. I am not one of them. I will not be returning to this dealership. Best of luck to them running a dealership like it's 1985.

Met Chris today and he helped me get a new vehicle after having my car for 12 years. He was personable, easy going, worked for me, and made it a great experience. We also really appreciated his manager and Angie in finance. Everyone was pleasant and friendly and got me a great deal. Would definitely come back and also recommend to friends and family!

This dealership used misleading, high-pressure, and dishonest sales tactics throughout our interaction. Sales Process: Salesman misrepresented vehicle features to push a higher-priced model. Pressured us into signing a so-called “pre-contract” under the assurance it was risk-free and reversible, including the trade-in of our truck. Negotiation & Conduct: Trade-in offer was insultingly low, and staff made unprofessional, even rude, comments. Sales floor atmosphere was unwelcoming and unprofessional. Finance: Finance rep rushed paperwork, failed to fully explain terms, and added costly packages without clear disclosure. We were not given copies of signed documents until we insisted the next day. Misleading Assurances: We were repeatedly told we could cancel the deal and get our truck back if we changed our minds. The next day, management claimed we couldn’t retrieve our vehicle because of signed paperwork, contradicting what staff had promised. Resolution: After pushback, calls to DMV and even considering police involvement, management finally returned our truck—only after further stalling and dishonesty. __________________ Our experience at Shottenkirk Honda of Davis was extremely disappointing and misleading from start to finish. When we first met Adrian, he provided misleading information about the Honda Pilot models, clearly pushing us toward the higher-priced Black Edition even though many of the same features were also included in the Special Edition. During the test drive, he spent more time talking about how tired and busy he was than focusing on the vehicle. The model with the features we were requesting ended up being unavailable, but they did let us know they had one that would be coming, but was not yet on the lot. Adrian and Rick, the floor manager, said in order to "reserve" this and keep it from being sold, they would need us to sign what they called a “pre-contract,” assuring us it was no risk and could be canceled at any time, even with our trade-in. However, once negotiations began, he made rude comments about us within earshot and the entire process became increasingly unprofessional. Keys were misplaced, communication was inconsistent, and we were left waiting for long stretches. In finance, we were rushed through signing without being given copies, pressured into overpriced warranties, and later discovered hidden add-ons worth over $2k. Her exact words when adding these were "I made sure to include this maintenance package because I know how important that is to you." She never mentioned pricing or an additional charge for this. We also noted that she had highlighted the "opt-out" portion of the "Contract Cancellation Option". As I understand it (after researching this myself), this is something which you can choose to purchase for a fee for used vehicles under $40k. If you want to opt-out of this optional agreement, you do have the option. But not once had we been offered the chance to purchase this option, and she had CLEARLY highlighted ONLY the "opt-out" portion. Then when we tried to cancel, the sales manager Sigi claimed our trade-in was already theirs despite previous assurances from both Adrian and Rick that we could walk away with no obligation. While using our trade-in as leverage, he continued to pressure us into purchasing their vehicle, promising lower numbers and demanding we explain why we no longer wanted to move forward with the outlined deal. His reasoning was that this sale would reflect well on his "weekend numbers". Ultimately, only after contacting DMV and consulting with police did we finally get our truck back. At no point did Sigi or the dealership apologize or take accountability. I strongly recommend avoiding this dealership at all costs.

Absolutely horrendous customer service from Shottenkirk
Absolutely horrendous customer service from Shottenkirk Honda of Davis!! My wife and I made an appointment with Vinny to test drive a 2025 Honda Civic LX and were serious about purchasing today. We live 30 miles away so we confirmed the morning of with Vinny that the car will be there. We show up and not only is Vinny not there, they brought a sport model and not the LX we specifically asked for. Mario tries to tell us that the car we want is in Sacramento and we have to run our credit and fill out paperwork before they bring the car which he says will take 20 minutes. I complained that I will not do any paperwork until I see the car and test drive it even if it is new. The sales manager Sagar Sigdel comes out and is completely rude. He tries to talk us into the sport model and asks why we’re interested in the LX. When I complained and told him to not try and talk me into something I don’t want and I want to see the car his people told us was here he told us to give them two hours now to fet the car and if we don’t want to wait that’s fine they will sell to someone else. At this point I was floored by how rude he was being to customers that his team lied to and drove 30+ miles for nothing. I asked for the General Manager’s contact information and Sagar told me he doesn’t have it and has never met him. Ridiculous!!! I hope the GM sees this and contacts me because his sales team has no customer service skills and are running a dishonest practice. Oh and the kicker was Sagar tried to tell me I was being hostile! Apparently sticking up for yourself and calling people out using civil language is hostile now. I guess we should allow sales people to lie to us and then smile while they try and sell us something we don’t want.

Horrible experience with Adrian Andradez.
Horrible experience with Adrian Andradez. He was disrespectful and unprofessional. I had an MSRP quote ready to negotiate with him, but he didn’t even give me the respect or time of day. He essentially called me a liar and didn’t believe me until I showed him the quote in hand.

Adrian lied to get to get me to come in and changed the price. We agreed on MSRP on the phone and quickly added $10k mark up and another $10k of contracts to the price of the vehicle. Very unprofessional and predatory. He could of easily said they couldn't sell their vehicles at MSRP and that would have been respectful and save us both time.

Don’t waste your time or money here.
Don’t waste your time or money here. I walked in hoping for a smooth car-buying experience and left feeling scammed and disrespected. I recently visited Shottenkirk Honda of Davis and had a shocking experience. My initial salesperson was nice and helpful. However, my experience took a downturn when I had to deal with the sales manager. He was disparaging, unhelpful and didn’t seem to care about my concerns. While the dealership has a wide range of vehicles to choose from, my experience was marred by hidden fees and a lack of transparency. The pricing I was quoted via text didn’t match the final offer, with additional fees appearing out of nowhere. When I questioned these extra charges, he became defensive and dismissive. The sales tactics were pushy and aggressive, with multiple attempts to pressure me into buying add-ons I didn’t want or need. The dealer then offered me a ridiculously low trade-in value for my well-maintained car so be careful if you’re trading a vehicle at this dealer. They will always low ball you 4-5k lower than your actual vehicle value. Do not give in and ask for more. I was contacted via text after I disappointingly walked out the dealership, and I was shocked at how rude their responses were. Instead of giving helpful information, the managers replies were short, unhelpful, and condescending. When I asked follow-up questions, I was met with pompous replies and no real effort to help. I understand that text communication can be quick, but there’s no excuse for the disrespectful tone they used. I would never trust a place that communicates like this. The next day After finding a vehicle I wanted to purchase from another dealer, I was informed that Shottenkirk Honda of Davis had blocked the sale simply because I live within their designated sales territory. I was told by the manager via text that I will not get the car I wanted unless I purchase from them. This behavior is unfair and anti-competitive, limiting my ability to shop freely for the best deal. Consumers should have the right to purchase from any dealer they choose without interference. I hope Shottenkirk Honda reconsiders this practice and prioritizes customer satisfaction rather than restrictive business tactics. Consumers should have the right to purchase from any dealer they choose without interference. Overall, this is absolutely the worst car dealership I’ve ever been to. I have purchased several vehicles in my years and have never witnessed such shady tactics and poor customer service. This is definitely a dealer you should avoid.
