Went to Gillman Honda North to buy a 2023 used Honda

Went to Gillman Honda North to buy a 2023 used Honda Pilot. Salesperson was friendly and went through all the standard rigmarole to get me to finance in-house. I held to my credit union financing until he brought out his manager who promised they could beat my CU's rates, so out of curiosity, I let them try. Manager came back with a rate that did not match my CU for the number of months I wanted, so I told them no, I'll stick to my CU and requested they send them the purchase order. I was told over the course of the next 24 hours that they were sending the PO but never did, and were not giving me details as to why the holdup. I knew the holdup was to figure out a way to get me to finance in-house, but I wanted to hear from THEM. I finally told them if the CU doesn't have the PO as promised by 5 pm that day, then I was prepared to leave the car where it is and go to a seller who values my time...I got no response to that message. Someone called me hours later about financing (now the 4th person I've talked to) and I repeated that they now have one hour to give me details on the holdup, or send the PO, or I'm done. One hour came and went with no response and no PO, so I went too, to another dealership. I got a call from the original salesperson that night asking what's the status on me purchasing the vehicle from them...! I was prepared for the strategy and games dealerships employ, I know and understand they want to make money just as much as I want to save money. But that is no excuse for not communicating with a customer. If you want me to finance with you, then earn my business. They failed to do that so I will never buy from or recommend anyone to Gillman Honda North.

We are thoroughly loving our 2024 Honda Accord hybrid.

We are thoroughly loving our 2024 Honda Accord hybrid. The folks at Gilman were wonderful. Our sales associate Gustavo Gonzalez was knowledgeable professional and went the extra mile to get us the car we wanted in the timeframe we needed. We were able to get the car combination, we needed same day because of their great inventory. Their financing folks were really easy to work with and got us a great deal. The car is a dream to drive and the mileage is out of this world. I would thoroughly recommend Gillman as a car buying destination. They make what usually could be a stressful situation be a great experience.

Good Place to Buy a Honda

Javier Meglar was great. He was easy to deal with, kept me up to date with things, but was not pushy. Gillman provided a good price for our trade, even though we sold it elsewhere.

My salesman did an excellent job. He took care of me from the beginning of the buying process to the end. I wanted something specific that they and others didn?t have. He worked hard to give me the best deal in Houston.

10/5 Salesman Kevin.

10/5 Salesman Kevin. He was absolutely wonderful! My experience at Gilman looking for a car was great and I would like to show appreciate to Kevin for being patient and working with me during this time. Buying a car is a stressful time but he made it very smooth, and his personality is top notch. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a car. Finance 0/5 (MOE RAFIEI) The reason why I am giving a bad review is to the Finance guy Moe Rafiei. He is one of those guys that have been working there for a long time, probably has seniority and treats customers terribly without any consequences. He deserves a 0/5! He introduced himself and welcomed us in his office. I noticed that I was the main buyer on the application, when I was suppose to be the second. My husband was to be the main applicant. I simply asked why is that. His response was "well aren't you the one that graduated? You should be first." I proceeded to tell him "that's not was explained to us in the front". But ok moving forward. He hands us a paper showing a college graduate APR of 7.9%!!! for 6 years. So I asked him "We were told that there was a special for doing a 3 year finance plan for 2.9%." Moe condescending response back was "Well college graduate is an automatic 7.9%, you don't qualify for 2.9%. Also, the people in the front (the salesman) does not know anything about finance anyway!" This is where I had to draw the line. I felt like he treated me like I was born yesterday. SIR, I graduated with an MBA (so I have a background in FINANCE), probably have way more schooling than him, buying a car and financing is NOT my first rodeo. I told him to take my graduation off (since schooling doesn't seem to make any difference) and redo my financing, I have way over 820 credit score, for you to treat me like someone that just graduated high school. I was livid at how he treated me in his office. Is this how he treats most of his customers who doesn't know anything finance? He's very condescending and will try to outsmart you. He then walks out, and another finance guy comes in. (5/5) Chris Nguyen was a complete 180. He made the finance mishap so much better. He was able to correct the financing part and finish the paperwork smoothly with such a better attitude. Thank you for that! Overall, I would come back to Gillman to purchase another car. I will warn everyone to avoid Moe if possible when you go into the finance office. Get anyone but him!

New car

Salesman was very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. My favorite part is he wasn?t overbearing which would push me to go elsewhere. Was also very happy with the finance guy. Very nice and glad to hear he had been there a long time which doesn?t seem to happen much anymore.

Salesman was great. However, I paid for this vehicle in full and the dealer ran my credit in order to accept a personal check. I did not like this.

I used to be a loyal Gillman customer.

I used to be a loyal Gillman customer. I am not anymore. Not after the way I was treated with such disrespect and had so much of my time wasted. I ultimately decided to buy a Honda Pilot from Gillman Honda because of a previous positive experience, and because this particular one came with a small/short Honda warranty. My salesman Remi assured me it would be honored at ANY Honda dealer. So I bought this particular car from Gillman, instead of the dozen of other Pilots I test drove all over Houston. Last week, I was driving home from work and a flashing check engine light came on. I quickly decided to take it to the nearest Honda dealer only a few miles away, right off the interstate I was on. I felt fortunate to be so close and able to take it to any dealer. Upon arrival, I learned that the car was now barely outside the warranty. Less than 2% over. I understand how warranties work, and I also knew that I had some pretty extreme circumstances that I believed someone at Honda needed to hear about before any final decision was made. This dealer recommended a few routes to go, one of them being to go back to Gillman since that’s where I bought it in the first place. We agreed to begin running the diagnostics, to save everyone time, and I left and immediately called Gillman Honda. Someone took my information and assured me that the Service Manager would return my call ASAP. After 2 more days of waiting, I had received multiple calls and updates from the other Honda dealer about the status and findings of the diagnostic. I still had received no call from anyone at Gillman Honda, so I decided to drive the hour it takes to speak with them in person. Someone escorted me immediately to the service manager. The service manager said he knew exactly who he could talk to about this, and that he would not be able to speak with them until Monday. He assured me he would call me on Monday. When Monday afternoon rolled around, I called him for an update. He answered the phone and told me that the person he needed to speak with was still in a meeting, that he had not forgotten about me, but that he needed more time. He did call me back later that afternoon, and unfortunately I was in a meeting this time. He left a voicemail. He explained in the voicemail that this would not be covered under the warranty, but that if I could get the car to Gillman we could work on some other options. He also said call him back with any questions. So I called back and left 3 more voice messages asking the service manager to call me back. He returned NONE of my calls! Again, 2 days later, I decided to drive another hour back to Gillman to get some answers in person. When I told him I left 3 messages for him after that on the direct line he gave me, he never acknowledged or apologized for not receiving or returning my messages. We did start talking and discussing some options, ALL OF WHICH we could have discussed over the phone if he had just returned even one of my messages. What a COMPLETE WASTE of time and disrespect. The cherry on top is that, eventually, he tells me that I should “honestly, explore the service at the other dealer. It will cost you about $1,000 more to have the car repaired here.” When he said this, I had never felt so dismissed in my life. He made me feel like I was a nuisance and a problem to get rid of, rather than a human being or even a valued customer. And I was treated like this while I am trying to care for my three kids, the youngest of whom is 5 months old, and also while caring for my wife who is receiving and recovering from cancer treatments and surgery. This is a lot of extra burden on top of a really trying and difficult season for my whole family. Next time I have to buy a Honda, I won't be Gillian's problem.
