"Toth Buick GMC....Ohio's oldest Buick GMC dealer, proudly serving Northeast Ohio since 1936!"
I went to Toth on Arlington Road in Akron, Ohio, to evaluate the size of the Arccadia. A gentleman came out, spoke with my husband and me and answered... questions. He let me get into a Buick Enclave to evaluate its size. My husband left his name and number, told him what we were looking for ( a full sized SUV), and we left feeling like the interaction had been successful. We came home and started looking for vehicles on Auto Trader and Car Gurus. Around 2:30pm, I jumped on CARS.com (notice a familiar theme here) and I found this beautiful red Yukon listed for $7000. I called to make sure it was still available and we jumped in the car and headed back to Toth Buick and GMC on Arlington Road in Akron, Ohio. All the way there, we talked about the earlier visit and wondered why the salesman hadn't told us about it, since he knew what we were looking for and resolved to ask the salesman when we got there. Well, he wasn't around so this other guy offered to bring the car down for us. After checking the computer, he informed us that the car was not what we asked for. It took me some time, because I had gotten angry, but I was able to show him the ad on my phone. The junk he showed my husband wasn't worth the $7000 asking price, and the car pictured was a nearly $16,000 sticker price. They advertised a 2007 Yukon SLT, but pictured a 2013? model of a different kind. I told the salesman I wanted the pictured car for the advertised price, which I knew they wouldn't do. So what are my issues? I'm sure the family guy, Mr. Toth is wondering as he reads this, so I will spell it out. 1. Your first salesman didn't even offer to help us find anything. He was in early, but I'm pretty sure if I had said I wanted that 2014 Enclave, he'd have helped me make the purchase. 2. I wasted time due to an inaccurate ad (mistakes happen). But the most egregious sin was that the last guy (a young African-American), didn't even offer an apology. As I said, What customer service! Don't worry! I won't be back!
I'm really sorry that this happened. We have a Yukon and a Yukon XL, both red, and the pics were mixed up. I fixed the pics in our system last week an...d I guess I assumed that the pictures would then be fixed on all of our 3rd party sites like Cars.com. I was wrong. I'm sorry you made the drive back based on incorrect pictures. I'm also sorry Antoine didn't offer an apology. He's an awesome guy, that's not like him, I'm not sure what happened there. Anyway, it was an honest mistake and I apologize. -Nick Toth
I've been pricing suvs for $10,000 and under, I found listed on 3 major popular internet car sales sites, cars.com, autotrader.com and cargurus.com the... perfect suv, fully loaded, very low mileage, clean car fax, great model, too good to be true but it was listed so I called and the suv supposedly just sold and is there something else they could sell me, none of which were anything close to the deal listed. So now fast forward a week later and low and behold there is the same suv again, the really attractive vehicle with all the best goodies, popping up on the same search sites, only now its even more attractive because its a "recent price drop of 1,000.00" which I'm sure even baited more people to call in! Sadly, don't get your hopes up because its not there, they only want to appear to be a great and fair dealership to get you in the door. I'm disappointed and frustrated, I don't have time to waste on fictious deals that are only geared to get me in their door.
Janet, I apologize if you feel that we did anything like this intentionally. We're a family owned and operated dealership, going on our 85th year in ...business. It's definitely not worth it for us to advertise cars we don't have and play games to get people in the door. I'm not sure exactly how this happened but we absolutely should have let you know that our previous deal fell through. I'm really sorry that we dropped the ball there. -Nick Toth
I have purchased a Ford Explorer Sport Trac from Toth in Akron before and have visited Toth in Green. Great vehicles, salseman, and facilities. Now that... Vince Martin has joined the team, my next vehicle will be from Toth.
I went to Toth Buick GMC after viewing a vehicle on line. I contacted them and the salesman was very nice. I went to test drive it, and I ended up putting... fuel in it because I did take it on a very long test drive. There were 2 different prices on line, and when I asked about it, I was told the lower price was before the vehicle was repaired and inspected. I tried to negotiate a price, and they would not move at all on the price.( when I got home with the vehicle I found the window sticker in the glove box with the lower price by $661, so it was removed from the window before I arrived to test drive the vehicle, which I had called them ahead to tell them when I would be there). So they cheated me by $661. I also wanted the rear defogger wire repaired (mind you, it went through their inspection process where all was repaired). I also showed the salesman the side detection service needed message. I guess they felt it cost too much to fix that, because they would not agree to pay for it, so I agreed to pay no more than $500 to have everything repaired. This was a $300 charge, which was never repaired. When I signed papers and picked up the vehicle it had not been repaired. I brought this to the attention of the Service Dept, who sent the mechanic out who blamed me for not telling Service the correct thing (the saleman was to take care of this, not me, and they said they scanned the vehicle so they should have known). After being yelled at by the mechanic, Nick Toth himself came out and agreed to have it fixed but then yelled that that was the last thing they would repair! Mind, you I PAID to have it repaired. He promised a loaner car if I would drop it back off for repair. The vehicle was to have 2 sets of keys which took over a month to have sent to me after many calls to the salesman about it. 6 weeks later, they finally said they had the part for the repair, but no loaner car would be provided because of Covid-19. Fine, I had to secure a ride to and from the dealer. Prior to picking it up from repair I called and left messages to please double check to make sure it was repaired correctly. No one called back (normal for Toth ) so I went to pick it up, and it STILL is not repaired. I am so done with TOTH, They raised the price by $661 and never did the $300 repair so they cheated me out of $961. ALL I CAN SAY IS STAY AWAY!!! Too bad, because this was a spare vehicle, I just bought a 2020 GMC Acadia Denali for a different GMC dealer, brand new, which Toth lost that sale!! Good thing, as I would never have had correct service done for that vehicle or had a good price from them! Their loss! And even after I left messages for the salesman today after I picked up the not repaired Yukon XL, still no call back! They are the worst place I have ever dealt with!!
I'm really sorry for any issues or miscommunications. I can't speak to the poor communication but for that I apologize nonetheless. I'm the one who ...spoke to you when you brought it back and I most definitely didn't yell at you. We had a very friendly conversation and you thanked me as you left. Obviously we didn't do everything perfect or we would't be having this conversation but this did happen right at the very beginning of the COVID-19 situation. It may not be a good excuse but I know I was on edge big time. We weren't sure what running a business looked like at that time so I'm sure nothing went smoothly. It was difficult but I do apologize. I just want to make it clear that we did spend over $1,000 in service addressing issues after the sale. I really am sorry it all happened this way though. This is not the norm for us. -Nick Toth
Toth made the Car Buying Experience Great Again! We had the opportunity to handle the purchase of our car from the convenience of our couch - we're a busy... family with two young kids. My wife and I did our research, knew what we wanted and Bill Jones and John Winkler exceeded our expectations! We spent less than 45 minutes in the dealership finalizing our paperwork (huge thank you to Cindy as well having everything ready to go) and learning about all the cool features our new Enclave offered. If you're looking for fair, upfront pricing and customer service on the back end - see John and Bill at Toth for your next ride.
Very nice and accommodating in service. When purchasing our vehicle they listen to our needs to find the car we wanted. We purchased our car that day.... A excellent sales person listens to the needs of his customer not what he wants to sell them but what they want. I will highly recommend Toth Buick to my friends. Thanks for everything.
We leased 2 Buick Encores from Toth on the same day. Our problem was that we needed an Suv larger than the Encore, but Buick could not find one in our... price Range.
Just had the WORST experience ever at Toth Buick in Akron- Arlington Rd. WOMEN ARE NOT TREATED EQUALLY!! I saw the vehicIe on cars.com I was interested... in. I showed up at dealership, drove a vehicle, sat down with salesman and he started the paperwork to purchase vehicle. Meanwhile the owner (so he said) drove my trade-in WHILE another salesman ( by the same last name) let another potential buyer ( a male) drive the same vehichle I was sitting down doing the deal on. They all returned and then my salesman was called into the office with the owner, the finance person and the other (Toth) salesman to which my salesman ( who's last name is not Toth) came back to tell me that the other "guy" is paying asking price. I was like what?? I haven't gotten any paper put in front of me- I was not too concerned as I said to my salesman "well we are still first in line right? I can pay asking price too right?" My salesman disappearred again and then came back to tell me they sold it to the guy that drove it after me!! WHAT THE xxxx?! REMIND YOU -- I drove the van first and sat down to write deal while Toth let the other "guy" drive the van I am trying to purchace. Not a normal way to do business ANY normal one would think. The salesman of course was not happy, he also lost my sale. But the salesman with the name Toth who took his male buyer to drive the van I was writing the deal on got the sale?! Is it becasue I am a woman that they think they could do this?? OBVIOUSLY!! But here's the worst part - Not once at any time did the owner or finance guy walk out to appologize, so I approached them hiding out in their office and asked them if this is how they do business. Here's their reply....."every once in a blue moon this happens." Really, I find it hard to believe that reputable dealers let a car get purchased out from under the person sitting in the seat writing the deal on that same exact vehicle. NEVER AGAIN Toth Buick in Akron/Green on Arlington Rd, Never Again !! That was Two hours I will never get back- DONT WASTE YOUR TIME going there!!
D.M., This was a tough situation and I'm sorry you had a bad experience but I'm not reading anything that would suggest you were treated unfairly beca...use you are a woman. The "once in a blue moon" comment was my brother saying that it almost never happens that we have multiple customers wanting to buy the same vehicle at the same time. Therefore, it's not an easy situation to handle and no matter what you do, someone is going to be upset. The customer who ended up buying the van had sent his father in law here the day before to look at the van. The customer then drove up from Cincinnati that day to purchase it. The other customer said yes and decided to purchase the vehicle before you did. I'm sorry the timing didn't work out in your favor. This had absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that you are a woman. We went with the customer who... A) had been working with us since the previous day... B) drove 3 hours to come purchase the van and C) said yes first. The sales manager who took the deal is a husband and a father of four daughters and is anything but sexist. He is a great guy and it really upsets me that you'd accuse him of that when nothing occurred that would suggest such a thing. I really do apologize that we don't have a better system to handle a situation like this. Like I said, this almost never happens and you have to take it on a case by case basis. We are a good group of people running a family business that takes pride in doing the right thing, however, the right thing is not always clear cut and evident to everyone involved. -Nick Toth
I thought my sales person Chris Cooper was knowledgeable about what he was doing in what I wanted and worked to get me what I needed
Everyone there is very nice. Easy to do business with them
