Stay Away!

Stay Away! I purchase a 1997 Silverado from Baldwin Chevrolet / Cadillac. Approximately 1/2 way home on my 200 mile trip the brakes went out. Did a complete brake job. Still no brakes. Took it to several mechanics and they could not fix the problem. Called Steve and he sent a trailer to pick up my truck. A few days later he brought the truck back and stated that it was fixed. It was not. Not only was it not fixed, it was in worse shape than when they picked it up. Lug nuts were so tight I had to take it to a large truck shop and have them loosened. Brake bleeders were now rounded from using a vice grip instead of the proper wrench. Come to find out, the ABS unit had previously been replaced with an incorrect one. Replaced with a new, correct one, and all is well. I spend over $3,000, after paying almost 12 grand for the truck, just so I would be able to safely drive it. They offered no compensation.

Dealer response

Hi Gene. We’re sorry to hear you had a negative experience with us. We want every customer’s experience to be the best possible, and we work hard to make sure that happens. It sounds like we missed an issue with the brakes. Our goal is for everyone who comes in contact with us to feel valued and respected, so if you could please call me at 1-800-537-1251, I’d love the opportunity to discuss your concerns further with you. I’m hopeful this will give you a chance to share any part of your story that wasn’t told before as well as offer some resolution on how we can help make things right between us. If there are other ways I can help, please let me know!

No respect given for someone driving 285 to view vehicle.

No respect given for someone driving 285 to view vehicle. Salesman lied about vehicle condition and vehicle was dirty. Cigarette burns all over carpet and seats. Leaves and brush stacked in door jams. Bed liner was filthy. And this is a new Cadillac dealership. Very much discouraged from ever trusting a new Cadillac dealership.

Lack of repair on Cadallic SRX

Trying to drive my 2015 Cadallic from eastern Tn to southeast Mo. Drove in a torrential downpour for about 30 miles west of Knoxville. Stability warning came on saying I had lost acceleration (car would not have speed over 24 mph) and advised to pull over immediately and not drive car. I was on I 40, almost dark and raining very hard. Called On Star for a tow. Turned car off waiting for assist. Meanwhile turned car back on, warning was off, drove for a test on frontage road and car seemed fine. Stopped in Poplar Bluff, Mo warning came back on. Tried to make it to Baldwin Cadallic, was almost broadsided when car stalled trying to make a left turn. Car restarted with warning on, stopped again and called Baldwin for a pick up. Response with tow truck was very quick. Car at dealership from September 19 through the 28th. Was told on the 21st when I called on the status that the car had "dried out" and I could come pick it up! Really now--I have a 2015 Cadallic, I'm 550 from home and my car is fine as long as I don't drive it in the rain? I had nothing but a complete run around for an entire week. Absolutely no calls returned and treated dismissively by everyone I dealt with except the service writer, Emily. My dealer, 550 miles away agreed to pick up my car and bring it back to Tn to find the cause of the trouble. Baldwins excuse, car came in at a bad time, just not enough time to work on it and I didn't have an appointment. What an unbelievable nightmare and the poorest excuse imaginable for a service dealership! Would I recommend Baldwin Cadallic? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!

Dealer response

At Baldwin Chevrolet, we strive to help our customers and accommodate them to the best of our ability. At the present time our dealership has an excessive workload, making our schedule very tight at times. However, as the customer was passing through and needed assistance, we tried to help by working the 2015 Cadillac SRX in among other standing appointments. While diagnosing the problem, our service department checked for bulletins/recalls on the vehicle and found bulletin "07-06-04-19e Intermittent Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated DTC P2138 with Reduced Engine Power", which states that the condition may be caused by water intrusion. Service department and body shop checked every aspect that said bulletin outlined; all possible leak sources were sealed and the vehicle was leak tested. No water leaks were found. All connections in the instrument panel were checked for debris and water; no debris or water were found. Technicians then road-tested the vehicle for several miles and were unable to duplicate the problem. After road testing, technicians started testing voltage parameters, continuing to try to figure out the problem. The customer then contacted our dealership, stating that another dealership would be picking up the vehicle. Our service manager spoke with the customer's husband on Friday, September 23, explaining our findings and next steps (which included the leak test) and followed up with OnStar (regarding their diagnostics) on the husband's behalf. Multiple members of our service department also spoke with the customer on several occasions regarding the status of repairs.
