I had been in the market for a Kia soul. I read up on what the Soul was like, it was similar to my recently destroyed Scion but better and quieter now... that I have a new car. Due to difficulty in getting about and using a rental car, I finally made it to the dealer. I was there 5 minutes, shown two cars, both almost identical and said, "let's go". The price was right, it was explained to me and we went ahead, prepared papers, I left a deposit and said I would return with a personal check the following day. When I returned the car was ready, Mr. Kinney explained various operations but I told him I was anxious to leave and would read the owner's manual and not to worry about going through all the details as I am rather competent when it comes to instructions. I appreciate the help, the conversation, the friendliness and the honesty. I am happy with my new car, I will return for some extra items in the parts department that I want added and set up future maintenance as I pass them on my way all the time from San Francisco to Sonoma.

We were looking for a new Kia Niro touring model with the technology package and Cerulian Blue. All of the other dealers that we visited were asking a... surcharge on the MSRP. Kia of Marin gave use the manufacturer's suggest retail price for the car. Shawn Kinney was a great sales professional, he was very straightforward in his approach, no smoke and mirrors, no pressure. At least one other dealer that we visited we felt very pressured and there was no comparison to our experience with Shawn. When the car was ready for pickup, Shawn spent a considerable amount of time going through the operation of the vehicle. Since purchasing it 3 weeks ago, we have put over 1,900 miles on the car. We were happily surprised to find that our Niro, which is rated by the EPA at 40 mpg, has been averaging 46 mpg with 4 people in the car and up to 49 with one person at 60 mph on the freeway (driving for economy) and over 50 in local driving, again focusing on economy in driving. It does hop when needed to enter traffic or pass, but it is really at its best between 50 and 60 mph for fuel economy.

Buying cars can be a real pain. As I am already a Kia Soul owner, I did my homework and knew exactly what I wanted. I purchased my first Kia in Santa Rosa... because it's close to where I live and had great service there. I started out this time calling there first. I did not have great success with the salesperson who answered my call, so I decided to call Kia of Marin. Eric Anderson, the salesperson who answered my call, was awesome to work with!
