Misleading!

We purchased a used vehicle from the Murdock Chevrolet at Woods Cross. The vehicle was a 1996 Ford, so future mechanical issues were expected. The salesman was great to work with and kept us in the loop on the application process. We asked about current mechanical issues and were assured that the vehicle was very mechanically sound, and that the service department had gone through the truck. We live approximately 4 hours from this dealership, and clarified that we could drive the truck home with no issues. We picked the truck up that evening, looked it over and underneath for any obvious staining on the ground. The truck started right up and sounded like it was running well. After driving just a few exits, the truck started to overheat. We pulled over at a gas station, and the vehicle was out of coolant. We replaced this, and it dumped out the bottom of the truck as quickly as we could fill it. We had to stop at every gas station on the way back to re-fill the coolant, and less than 2 hours into our drive, the clutch on the truck went out. We had to leave the truck 2 hours away from home on the side of the interstate because it was no longer drivable. We contacted the dealership and (in not exact terms) were basically told that we bought the truck as-is and it was our issue now. The salesman did offer to have the service department call us to explain that they did go through the vehicle. Someone with the service department called us, and stated they "are only required to do a safety check", and that the vehicle was not mechanically looked at. They checked the lights, and the seatbelts, and rolled it to the lot for sale. My husband asked him if the felt like brake fluid, coolant, and other fluids could possibly be a safety issue, and was told "no." To note, all fluids on this truck were completely empty. After speaking with the salesman again, I informed him that we bought the truck with the information that the service department had looked through it mechanically and found no issues. He stated that that was his misunderstanding and would see what he could do to resolve it. I received an email back stating that he spoke with his manager, Nancy, and there was nothing further they could do for us. So far, we are 3 days into owning this truck, driven less than 120 miles, and have put over $1,000 into it, with another expected $2,000-$4,000. So far, the clutch, water pump, and injectors need to be replaced. We anticipated future issues with this truck, as it is an older vehicle. However, we signed the paperwork with the assumption that the service department had gone through it and did not find any major mechanical issues. We were mislead and lied to, and unfortunately, this will be at our own expense. Our issues were not directly with the salesman, as it was clearly a misunderstanding between the service department and the sales department. However, the lack of care, compassion, or trying to make things right with us has been astounding. Will never purchase a vehicle from Murdocks again, and will also advise all of our friends not to.

They just want to sell you a car NO HELP

I hate to leave bad reviews but they deserve this last November I bought a $30,000 Mercedes from them the girl I purchased it from didn't even know how to open the hood so I left knowing how to do nothing with my new car was given an oil change card when I bought it for $19.99 said that the oil did not need to be changed for a year or for 10,000 miles it's now October of the next year I called asked if they were accepting that coupon still they said yes they do not take appointments for oil changes so come and just sit I drove from Murray to Woods Cross to be informed that they would not offer the $19.99 oil change they do not use those cards anymore even though I asked when I called after I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes I was informed that they could not even change that oil and it would be an hour before they could get the oil there so after wasting my entire day I was told I probably should just go to the Mercedes dealership DO NOT buy a luxury vehicle from this dealership they will not help you all they want to do is sell you the car I want you to write a review while you're signing papers and then you are on your own they do nothing to help and all they can say is "we're very sorry" also after I purchased this vehicle the battery went out within the first week went back to the dealership told me I needed to go to Mercedes went to Mercedes and bought a $600 battery thanks Murdock I'll stick with Miller group from now on also it took five hours even though I knew what car I was buying when we went to the dealership I told the girl "this will be the easiest sell you'll ever make" little did I know it would be such a headache and ongoing every time I deal with them

Competitive prices and dedicated team

I had a very good experience. Ryan in charge of me is a very kind?, respectful and dedicated person. I didn't have a car and he came and pick me up from my work place to bring me at the dealership. He took care of me and was very attentive at my needs. He showed me different options to fit my budget and honestly told me the truth at each step. I really appreciate it. They also had a very competitive price. I even get a blanket upon my purchase. The only think I could suggest is to handle the car to the client with full tank. Otherwise the rest was great!!!

I'll never buy a vehicle from this dealer again. I was promised all sorts of things but got NOTHING when I picked up my new truck! DO NOT buy from this place, they're not honest at all! Lies, lies and more lies from them.

Dealer response

I don't have the information I need to look up your car deal in our system. If you'd email the name the truck was purchased under, I'd be happy to investigate (info@murdockchev.com). Anything agreed to at time of purchase should be included on a form stating what is owed by either party. We will honor all written agreements.

Consumer response

Funny you say that, our salesman never gave us the paperwork you speak of. My opinion will not change, thanks for your time.

Dealer response

If you'll email me your contact info I'll be happy to look for the paperwork. Again, the email to send that to is info@murdockchev.com.
