Diesel exhaust system problem
I took my 2017 GMC 2500 diesel truck in for the two thermostats to be replaced. Soon after leaving the dealer I got a reduced power Action required keep driving to clean particulate filter. I took the truck back to the dealer and it had a whole new set of code problems that had not appeared ever before relating to the regen and def system. The tech who had worked on it before determined there was a hose that was not hooked up when they were doing the previous work and it would not do the automatic regen process. They hooked up the hose and did a manual regen process to attempt to clear the soot out of the particulate filter. Right after I left the same reduced power warning came on again and it told me to keep driving. I decided to drive up to the mountains to give it a chance to clear out the exhaust filter. No luck so I took it back to the dealer where they determined I needed a new particulate filter! Part cost around $3,000! ( all due to a problem they caused!) I left the truck and gave them the go ahead to do the work and order the part. over the weekend I stewed over the whole situation on Tuesday morning I called Quality auto and Diesel repair in Clovis and they told me they see this problem a lot and sometimes it requires 3-4 manual regens to get the soot level down in the exhaust filter and they were confident it did not need replacement. So I went back to dealer took my truck they charged me a $175 diagnostic fee for there missed diagnosis. Quality auto did the regen multiple times got the soot level in filter to 14% test dove it and all is good and it runs like normal and bill was $200! I will never go back to Fresno GMC again! Either they are crooks or they don't know what they are doing! or both
