Think hard before placing a deposit a Cedar Rapids
Maybe 2 months back, I contacted Cedar Rapids Toyota in search of a 2032 Tundra. They had one about 2 months out from delivery to the dealer that I liked, so I put down a $500 deposit on that vehicle. Recently I decided that I wanted a different model Tundra than the one I put the deposit on, (which by the way was already in their inventory) so I asked if they had my preferred truck either inbound, or in current inventory and they didn't. I asked if I could be refunded the $500, and based on conversations with the dealership, it was my understanding that I could. It's not like they need my money. Cedar Rapids Toyota has a lot more money than I do, or most any other average citizen unless their name is Michael Jordan, LOL. I received a call today from Cedar Rapids Toyota notifying me that if I wasn't willing to wait upwards of 8 months to a year, for the truck I wanted, I would not be refunded my deposit. Well I don't want to wait that long, so I asked if the $500 could be applied to purchases in their parts store and they said no. Either take delivery of a trunk I decided I don't want, wait upwards to a year for what I do want, or lose the $500. I used to be a floor manager at a Toyota dealership myself so I know the business. The Tundra I decided not to take delivery of, will sell in no time as they are in short supply and very popular. One of the Cedar Rapids Managers is simply playing hard ball because nothing I've done has cost them a dime. Moral of the story... Do not put a deposit down on a vehicle at "Cedar Rapids Toyota" if there is even the slightest possibility that you might change your mind, because they definingly are not giving you a refund if you either run into financial problems or change your mind. Word to the wise. I'm Jeff, U.S. Army Retired, Paratrooper with over 20 years active duty. Won't even let me use the $500 in their parts store where they have a considerable mark up and would make profit off me anyway. Wow.

Hi Jeff, We're sorry to hear you were very unsatisfied with handling of your non-refundable partial payment. When you made the decision to put down this payment towards a Tundra a couple months ago, your decisions effected many other factors including: giving up inventory to fulfill your specific order we could have used for someone else. Telling people the vehicle that was set aside for you was not available and possibly missing out on other potential buyers. Not to mention, slowing down our sell rate with Toyota that is used to figure the number of future vehicles we receive. This is why we have taken the path of having a non-refundable partial payments as the decisions of the customer also effect the decisions of the dealership as well as many other customers looking for new Toyota's. Moving forward, we can keep your non-refundable partial payment for the purchase of a new or used vehicle here at Cedar Rapids Toyota if that's what you'd like to do. We understand the wait for a Tundra TRD Pro is long right now but if you choose to wait and go that route, don't hesitate to let your sales person know. Cedar Rapids Toyota

Car wash offered with oil change
We take our vehicle to get oil changes. Toyota says they offer a free car wash with an oil change, but so far, out of six oil changes, we have only been given two car washes. Every time there is an excuse: too cold, too busy, car wash isn’t working, can’t wash something with a trailer hitch on it. If the dealership doesn’t know how to operate a car wash, especially when other car wash companies can operate quite well, perhaps they should participate in some training, or simply not offer something they can’t do.

We appreciate your business and we're sorry that we have not always been able to accommodate to getting your vehicle washed. We have done 98,185 car washes since we've opened that and sometimes there are issues that we can't always get a customers car through there. As well, if the temperature goes below 35 degrees, we shut the car wash down because of water freezing on your car, the car wash has a potential of freezing as well, the water that runs into the parking lot then becomes ice and creates a safety hazard. We would be happy to make sure you receive a wash next time you're in for a service and we will remove the hitch and put it back on if needed to ensure a wash. But, as stated before, if the temperature is below 35 degrees, unfortunately we cannot run your vehicle through the wash. Please feel free to reach out to our service manager in advance, Jon Fridinger, to make sure we can satisfy a loyal customer with a wash of their vehicle. Thank you to Gene and Curt for assisting me with the purchase of my new vehicle. I came from out of state after working with a dealership in my hometown whom were not cooperative or willing to go the extra mile for me. CR staff were kind, hard working and did not make me feel pressured at all. I appreciate the time and effort put in to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. Curt was even planning to come in on his day off to help assist with financing before my flight was delayed. I am more than happy with my car and would recommend this dealership to others!

I HATE this place.
They lied to me about the price of the car; the paperwork wasn't ready when I especially requested that it be -- I was on crutches and had a doctor's appointment I had to make; they had the wrong mileage. Instead of apologizing and expediting the process, they kept trying to chit-chat in order to get me to buy an extended warranty, in spite of repeated statements that I was not interested in talking about my family, how I liked my job, whatever. I believe the car was in an accident which wasn't disclosed. They don't publish negative reviews, and finally, IN SPITE OF ALL MY REQUESTS, instead of apologizing, they keep sending me birthday cards. Their disregard for the customers covers all bases. IT IS DISGUSTING -- I get an annual reminder.

Good Experience
I drove nearly 100 miles to get to this dealership. At first, I did not want to, but am I glad I did! The whole process of buying my 07 Honda CRV was very pleasant and the people were helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place.
