CarMax Kansas City - Now Open Hours
HUGE selection of cars. They have a row of just luxury and sport cars. The prices may be a little bit on the upper end, but overall a great dealership.
Had a vehicle picked out and held then it was sold out from under me:| I know that's the car business. Got a call from Cory 10 minutes before my wife... and I showed up. Wasn't able to take the call as I was driving. Was greeted and told that there had been a computer glitch... this glitch was in effect for over 2 days by my calculation. What I suspect happened is the vehicle was sold out from under me. What adds insult to injury is that the person that greeted us was going to look for another. I asked that they please send the list to my email. Additionally, the sales person never called back to apologies. Or make any attempt to save a sales opportunity. I had financing all lined up and was ready post test drive purchase. I can only surmises that CarMax has to many customers. I've purchased and/or influenced the purchase of 15 vehicles from CarMax. Things sure have changed in 4 years. This email is more of a vent, as I am more than convinced that no one cares for the customer experience at CarMax. Kind regards,
CarMax is nice except that they do the "No-Haggle Price" thing, which is lame. It was nice though and the man who helped me test drive the car I'm looking... at was really nice.
I recently went to Carmax and they found a vehicle we liked at a store in Indiana. We paid $99.00 to have this car shipped in. We were told it could... take up to 14 days to receive the car. We received an email after only 2 days that the car had shipped. After almost a week of not hearing anything I finally contacted the salesperson to find out what was going on. All I was told was yes the car had been delivered and they would contact us soon about picking it up. After another week of hearing nothing I contacted the salesperson again and had to push to get any information on what was going on. Apparently there was a dent that had to be taken care of and again was told it would be ready "soon". Several days again go by with no communication and we call and press to find an actually delivery date. This is on a Friday and they finally say it will be ready Monday-Tuesday. Tuesday night comes around and again NO communication. I send a message to the salesperson and all I can get is "I will contact the service department tomorrow. So here we are almost 3 weeks since we ordered our car and Carmax has our shipping money and we have no car, no communication, a salesperson who lets us know nothing, and a real bad taste in our mouth about the whole situation. NOT so hassle free!!!
A family member bought a vehicle from CarMax, and described it as a good, hassle-free experience, so I thought I'd give it a try. I drove to Merriam... from Lees Summit to look at a specific luxury sedan. When I opened the door, I literally gagged. It *reeked*, like cigarette smoke and pickles. I tried to open the doors and air it out for a few minutes, but it didn't help, I couldn't even get close to it. It was a beautiful car otherwise, and a good price, but there's no way I would put my kids in it, they would show up to school smelling like pickled cigarette butts. Instead of wasting the trip, I decided to check out some other vehicles that might interest me. Over half (probably 2/3) of their inventory reeks, usually smoker smell, but some smelled like fast food or mold. I left without even test driving anything. When I got home my clothes smelled. Despite the bad experience, I actually would still consider buying a vehicle from CarMax, because I found the online inventory search very convenient, I like their pricing model, and actually the staff there were pleasant (except they were nose deaf). But they really need some way to label which cars are smokers cars, like a cigarette symbol next to the listing, to save everyone wasted time and expense. I couldn't imagine having a car shipped from another state, only to find that it reeks.
Sixteen months ago my 4th Lexus was totaled. My Husband had recently purchased a Pickup from CarMax in Independence, MO and had an exceptional experience.... Having thoroughly researched their inventory, I found my next vehicle ... 'yes', a Lexus; I, too, had an exceptional experience at the Independence, MO CarMax location. I retired the month after purchasing my car; 16 months later, the mileage was 'still' remarkably low. I recently decided 'now is the time' to purchase an SUV. The Merriam, KS location had an SUV I was interested in purchasing 'THAT' day ... UNTIL they gave me the appraisal of the vehicle I had purchased from CarMax just 16 months earlier. Huge mistake on their part, as my Husband will be trading for a larger Pickup soon ... BUT NOT AT CARMAX in Merriam!!!!! Two days after being rejected by CarMax (Merriam, KS), I did trade my Lexus sedan for an SUV!!! CarMax (Merriam, KS) does NOT value previous customers ... YOUR LOSS, CarMax!!!!
I went through some trouble with a old car and they helped me get into a new car!! RANDI, JOHNATHAN AND BRETT ARE AMAZING AT WHAT THEY DO, AND IM SO THANKFUL... FOR THEIR HELP , PATIENCE DURING MY PROCESS!! I AM SO FOREVER GRATEFUL!!!
Scheduled an appointment the week prior. The car salesperson didn't remember and had us wait until finished with prior appointment. The car wasn't cleaned... or ready.
Amazing app. 109% would recommend to a friend or family member
Well organized operation - quality cars - excellent sales person - hassle free process - Don't offer great deals however. If you go to a another dealer,... you can do better but you will have to work hard to get the better deal and probably put up with irritating car dealer tricks.
