This is my 4 th car with Carnax Different sales person, Ted the one I had This time was the most unprofessional hateful person I have seen. I’m spending $34,000.00 I expect At least some respect and kindness. Between his disgusting appearance and hateful disrespectful attitude I almost Walked out. Instead I said To him “ I will Be nice to you if you are nice to me” he did change his attitude a bit. But if you walk in a get Ted with a gross long mustache walk out or ask for a different sales person. I should If just asked for a different sales person. This is my 4

CarMax gets more returns than sales
Test-drove and purchased car at dealership online on Aug.27, 2021. Very disorganized salesfloor. And "System was down;" so no purchase could be completed. I walked out and guy yelled at me to "come back as system was now up." I needed car detailed as it was filthy inside and had visible scratches outside. Tim promised it would be detailed before late-day delivery next day, Aug. 28. It wasn't touched. In COvid pandemic, I dont know who's driven it or what viruses, germs may be in sticky spills on screen, dash, seats and floormats. I have called 3 times about the detailing and 1 small mechanical problem. Not driving car. NO one at CarMax RETURNS my calls to schedule PROMISED DETAILING. I talked to actual service expert people 2 x and was on hold for 30 plus minutes.

Very helpful and very low pressure. Richard Couron...
Very helpful and very low pressure. Richard Couron always gave us the detais about each vehicle we asked about. Enjoyed our experience and feel like we made a good solid choice on the F150 we bought.

Trade Offer
CarMax trade offer - $17,500, Carvana $20,600, Vroom $21,067 and I ended up trading in to a NoVa dealership for $21,000. Received a call back after multiple messages and the response was that they had too much inventory right now. I've sold and purchased several vehicles from CarMax and was pleased. Never again!

Don't use
This dealership practices false advertisements. Don't use this dealership. There are many more in the area to choose from. A total waste of time. I hope they make some serious changes there.

Disappointed
Bought a 2014 Nissan Murano because of very low mileage. Took back after my personal mechanic drove and confirmed noises no normal. Told them my mechanic suggested the cars did problems with rackinpinion. Service department said they torqued it and it seemed ok after test drive. They could have not driven it far because it was still doing the same thing I brought it in for. It is a 40 minute drive to get to Carmax for me so it is annoying to have to take it back again. I will call again and hope they can get it right this time???

Was a HUGE fan of Carmax until this last purchase
We have purchased SEVEN cars from Carmax, but this last was terrible. The car had multiple problems and the repairs were inadequate to say the least. When I met with management, they assured me all would be repaired but only after I went to the general manager and insisted. After several attempts (3) our car seemed to be working well. Summer came and the air conditioning was leaking into the floorboard. We took our car to a repair shop (not Carmax) and they discovered something they have never encountered - the part to keep air conditioning from overflowing was completely missing! Carmax's quality of customer service has gone down drastically. I am severely disappointed that after seven purchases, we will need to look for a different dealership.

Awfulness at it's best
We bought the exact car we were looking for from CarMax and within minutes of driving off the lot, we noticed a bunch of major issues that should have been addressed before clearing it for sale. The car was clunking aggressively when turning slowly (this we diagnosed right away as the center differiential (Subaru AWD system)). Upon further inspection we noticed the battery was bad due to a bad alternator. The timing belt required replacement. The power steering was leaking and needed to be replaced. How did I find all of these issues when multiple techs inspected the car ??? I am an informed consumer and CarMax tried to walk all over me. I really can't stand when a consumer, such as myself knows more about the product then the business does. After we found these issues ourselves we dropped the car off at the Subaru dealer and they confirmed every single issue I found. I thought that CarMax is supposed to be the leader in quality used cars? We are local Richmond residents and have generally heard good things about the CarMax experience. I guess that was all a lie. After noticing all of the issues with the car, every single employee was completely unhelpful. The service manager, service writer, general manager, as well as orginal salesman, genuinely lacked any knowledge on how cars functioned and the basic mechanics. The process was extra frustrating because the staff kept telling us to just return the car. We we're so excited to find the perfect car we we're searching for that we just wanted it fixed right. They were very reluctant to fix anything. At one point our service writer (Patrick) hung up on us while speaking on the phone with him. The whole experience was a huge shame. CarMax finally fixed everything to our satisfaction, but the whole process was unnecessarily time consuming. It took six whole weeks to repair everything. They wasted so much of our time and their own. They probably need some help running the business from the looks of it. We we're so frustrated with the process and the mechanical ignorance that we will not be working with CarMax ever again. The experience was so bad, that all of our friends and connections, have and will continue to hear about this awful car buying experience. It has been about two months since we got the car back and they have made no effort to make sure things we're going well with the car. Where is the customer service? Why do I have to take to the internet to make organizational changes? In this day and age, with such a saturated car sales market, you would think they would try to wow us with at the very least a good experience and vehical. We we're wowed for different reasons!

Don’t buy here !
If I could give zero stars I would Kenneth Partin is so racist it’s ridiculous he kept insisting that I was from out of the country and that is why I couldn’t get a car loan. I may pursue A lawsuit because this is completely awful service! I speak English more fluent than him and he says I’m from out of the country how racist Kenneth partin should not work with the public!

A Great Job!
A very simple straight forward process. The entire team from start to finish was well organized, experienced and very cordial. They have refined the entire process from start to finish and kept it simple and streamlined. I couldn't be happier!
