Select Used Cars

My car was in an accident and it was borderline whether it could be fixed or not. Select had the closest car to what I had already owned and my preference was to keep my car, especially with its extremely low mileage. John, the owner was extremely helpful in helping me weigh the pros and cons of buying from him versus fixing what I had. When the autobody shop finished the quote, John advised me to fix what I had, even though it meant I would not be buying a car from him! I've never met such an honest, helpful, sincere car dealer as John at Select. He has given me a ton of valuable advice and I would be thrilled to buy my next car from him.

My husband and I are very pleased with the service we received at Select Used Cars. We purchased a 1998 Volvo from them, looking for an inexpensive car that would last until my husband retires in a few years and that would only be used for short trips around town. When a couple of problems developed with the car within the first three months, as you would not be surprised by in a 16 year old car, they were dealt with by the dealership quickly and without any hassle. We would happily recommend Select Used Cars to anyone looking to purchase a used vehicle.

To start, I despise buying cars. They're a neccessary evil though. I bought a Volvo XC90 through John. Scheduling the test drive was very simple. A quick call and done. One week later after looking at several others I came back. The car needed a few things and everything was done as promised. John came through with the promises made and a great deal. I'm very satisfied with their service and it literally was a stress free, zero pressure transaction. The way it should be.

John McCarthy provided great service in my search for a used car. Showed me everything in my price range and didn't try and sell something I didn't want. No pressure. Gave me the no-haggle prices for each car I was interested in and let me test drive them. Answered all my questions but didn't push me. When I selected a vehicle he had a mechanic check it out, and dealership paid for minor repairs it needed and did an oil change. Would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a good deal, no pressure and great service.

I've had this car for over 5 years and it was a gift when I was a Senor in high school and it was my car all through 4 years at URI, it's been a solid car and ran great.

I've purchased 4 cars from Select Used Cars and I've had no issues and always been very impressed with their approach to the final purchase price and any items that I wanted addressed. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a good used cars for themselves and the kids. Jim

My wife and I bought two used cars from Select recently. Overall the vehicles are in very good shape and run well, however there were a few issues that left us a bit annoyed. First the key fob for the BWM I purchased was completely broken. The dealership more or less tried to hide this fact. When I called them on it, they told me to get the battery replaced. Long story short and a lot of running around, I needed a new key fob. Select did eventually reimburse me. They also told me that the vehicle had gone to the BMW dealership for a complete check. This can't be true, because it wouldn't even pass inspection (brakes and turn signal). These were resolved by the BMW dealership, but again on my time. They also said they had my wife's Mercedes checked out completely, but it didn't pass inspection either (front ball joint and brakes). These were repaired at the dealership's expense. But, again, a complete hassle. Then about 3 week later her battery died (after the dealership said they had had it tested). Net net. These guys have nice cars, but not worth the aggravation of being misled. If we hadn't caught these items early, we would have been completely SOL.
