I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experiences with this service department have been extremely disappointing. I own a relatively new GMC truck that began developing a vibration during braking. At approximately 41,400 miles, I was told the brakes and rotors were severely damaged and needed replacement, resulting in a repair bill of approximately $1,300. What surprised me most was that the truck's brake monitoring system still indicated over 80% brake life remaining. I authorized the repair expecting the underlying issue to be identified and corrected, but I never received a clear explanation as to what caused the failure. Only weeks later, brake system warning messages began appearing. After another inspection, I was informed that the brake calipers were sticking and needed to be replaced, along with another set of brake pads, adding roughly another $1,000 in repair costs. My biggest concern is that if sticking calipers caused the original brake and rotor damage, why wasn't that issue identified during the first repair? Instead, I am now facing additional repairs shortly after spending a significant amount of money to fix what I believed was a resolved problem. Unfortunately, this was not my only negative experience. During another service visit, I brought the truck in for an inspection sticker, oil change, tire rotation, and recall work. I was notified the vehicle was complete, paid for the services, and left. I later discovered that only one recall had been performed and none of the other requested maintenance services had actually been completed. The response I received was essentially that I would not be charged again for work that should have been done correctly the first time. Mistakes can happen, but what has been most frustrating is the lack of accountability, communication, and concern for the customer experience. Between the repeated service issues, unexpected repair costs, and multiple return visits, my confidence in this service department has been significantly diminished. I hope management reviews these issues and takes steps to improve both diagnostic processes and customer service. As a customer who invested heavily in a GMC truck, I expected a much higher level of service and professionalism.

Buyer Beware – Disappointing Experience with This Dealership I am writing to share a very disappointing experience I had with this dealership, in the hopes that it may help others avoid a similar situation. I contacted the dealership to inquire about a specific vehicle and spoke with a salesperson named Dylon. After our conversation, I requested to speak with a manager. The manager returned my call, offered me a military discount, and I confirmed that I wanted to proceed with the purchase. Shortly after, I was contacted by the finance department, who collected all the necessary information to finalize the sale. Since this was an out-of-state purchase involving an eight-hour drive, I rented a one-way vehicle to travel to the dealership. I even forwarded a confirmation receipt for the car rental to Dylon as proof of my commitment. I planned to pick up the vehicle on Saturday, three days later. To my shock, on Friday—just five hours before I was scheduled to pick up my rental vehicle—I received a call from a dealership representative informing me that the car had been sold to someone else. I was told that it was dealership policy not to hold vehicles without a deposit, a policy that was never communicated to me at any point during the transaction. This was especially frustrating as I had been actively in touch with Dylon, even asking him that same day what name I should make the cashier’s check out to. When I requested to speak with Dylon and the sales manager to understand what had happened, I never received a return call. There was also a mention of a “tariff” during this call, though it was unclear how that was relevant to the situation. This experience was not only disappointing but also financially and emotionally draining. I trusted this dealership to follow through in good faith, especially after providing all of my personal information and travel confirmation. Unfortunately, that trust was misplaced. In my opinion, this dealership lacks integrity and professionalism. I strongly urge prospective buyers to proceed with caution and consider taking their business elsewhere. Sincerely, Vernon, from Virginia

After test drive I found the car's listing was misleading. Car was more expensive than similar cars I've seen listed but had obvious problems. Seller specifically mentioned good tires and brakes, however tires would barely pass an inspection and need replaced and noticed issues with the brakes during the test drive. I hope no one makes the mistake of purchasing vehicles from this dealer without test driving first. I would've been paying $2-3000 more for a vehicle and immediately having to replace tires at the minimum as well as possibly having to work on the brake system.

I purchased a car from out of State. Service was pretty good but when the car arrived it had a very loud road noise that was easily identifiable. Turns out it was a drive shaft on a Jeep that had 30k miles on it. I wrote to Matheny and asked to for some assistance/compensation. They responded that they would do nothing. All the usual disingenuous excuses but same result - nothing. I would never buy from them again out of State. Just can't be trusted to do the right thing.

My only concern is the high labor rates charged. I believe more people would have their vehicles worked on (out of warranty work), if the labor rates were more reasonable.
