Forced to install a $1300 tracker

Purchased a 2023 Bolt EV from Boardwalk Chevrolet. Dealer added a $1300 tracker to the vehicle and said it was not removable since it had already been installed. However, it only takes few seconds to remove it from the car. Anyone can remove from the car easily. It is not something that attaches to the car permanently. I asked them to remove the tracker and they refused. They also never mentioned to me that the car already came with 3 years of OnStar with location services, and still added the $1300 tracker on top of OnStar. The tracker is useless, worse than AirTag, and it takes like an hour to fetch the location. With OnStar, I can get the exact location of the car right away. Here I am attaching the official instruction from the tracker company to unpair the tracker from the vehicle. If you happen to purchase a car there and finds a tracker, please tell them to remove it and unpair it. The dealer was given instructions to uninstall the tracker, but wouldn't do that for me. Contacted GM Customer Engagement Center and filed a complaint on this dealer. Sales Manager still refused to refund.

Boardwalk Chevrolet

Don’t shop here. I booked an appointment today with Al to look at one car and one car only. The Trailblazer RS AWD in the iridescent tricoat white. I let Al know that too. I’ve been hunting for this car after selling my 2018 Lexus, and was ready to purchase this one. I explained to Al I was coming from Pleasanton, but live far away so I really only wanted to go if the vehicle was ready for sale, which he assured me it was and said it would be ready for my test drive when I got there. As I am waking into the dealership I see Al talking to another customer looking at a different Trailblazer but he starts to talk about the one they just got it, yup you guessed it, the only vehicle I showed up to see. Al then continues to mansplane to me that, it’s first come first serve, which is understandable, but if you knew I was showing up to see this vehicle, why you mention it to another person. So he tries to say, well she wanted to see this one first, and her appointment was first. No she didn’t, because I heard him mention it to her. But for one second, let’s go with what he said, she (the other customer) was there first, then why would you book 2 appointments back to back for the same vehicle when I already mentioned the dealership was not local to me. Oh, but don’t worry this story get worse. I asked to speak to the manager, now enter Eli. Eli apologizes and basically blames me for showing up early. And he tries to empathize, but fails horribly at it. I then try to use logic, a concept lost by these gentlemen to ask, why would you book an appointment with me for a vehicle but suggest it to another person only 7 minutes before I was suppose to show up. He goes on with, “well people don’t show up for their appointments all the time”. Doesn’t customer service 101 say then, call the person to see if they’re on the way. Can’t I get a little R E S P E C T! The other customer decided not to get the vehicle, but by then I felt so bad about this dealership I walked out, and here is where Eli shows he lacks multiple levels of poise and management. He starts to berate me by saying, “I’m so happy you’re not interested in this vehicle, because you seem impossible to please anyways,” I turn around and try to get a word out but he holds his hand up to me and say, “please just leave”. Yup! He said that! I have no doubt if I were a man, I would have never been met with this type of treatment. By the way, I do have the vehicle on order with another dealership now, but as for you Boardwalk Chevrolet, I will never do business with you and will make sure no one I know will ever either!

Sold the car out from underneath me

I was working a deal on a car in stock and this dealership sold it out from under me. Didn't get a warning or an offer to put down a partial down payment to hold the car. When confronted on why this happened, Bill Rice - Manager said "Uh, we're a car dealership, we sell cars." With a tone and then proceeded to tell me it was my fault. Bill Rice is why people hate dealerships and don't trust any of the process.

Please go somewhere else!

told by service advisor both axel and seal were replaced. Seal was not replaced causing diff to run low on oil. Causing Premature failure of the rear differential. When I bought the car back they resealed the rear differential saying everything was okay. When I picked the car up from dealer, the Diff was now making howling noises. I would not recommend any boardwalk dealer!

Awful experience - don't waste your time

I went to buy a certified pre-owned car (VW). I liked the car and was OK with the price. However, the salespeople were shady, played me, lied. They told me they would do a $300 discount, then they said that it was a mistake that it was only $100. In the meantime (one day), the car price went down. Then they would not even honor those $100. They lied about the car (eg: said it was a lease when CarFax stated it was a rental) and they hid information. They are extremely gender-biased. So if you are a woman, don't put a foot there. You don't want to deal with their condescending ways or them talking to your male friend instead of you (the buyer). They also made me waste tons of time promising things they did not honor. It was an awful experience. They don't seem trustworthy. After that experience, I understood why so many new online businesses that cut down the middle man (dealers) are popping up! I bought a car elsewhere.

Your standard inept used car salesmen

Prepare for a bombardment of emails and phone calls if you ask for details on a car. As well as the standard “these babies are going fast” cut and paste statement. Found multiple things not listed in the CARFAX or in the listing like small body work here and there. I mentioned I would not be paying the asking price because of what I discovered but I was still interested in the vehicle. The guy, “sold the car” while scanning my ID and insurance so I could test drive it. 10 days later that same car is still in inventory. Kind of a blessing because I got the same car somewhere else for less money and none of the hidden body work.

Outstanding customer service!

Smooth, fast and painless car buying process! This is the 6th car I have bought in my lifetime and also the best customer service by far! Also worth mentioning that I got a really sale price on the car I bought. I didn't have to spend all afternoon at the dealership like on my previous purchases experience at other dealerships. Will come back, for sure, for my next car!

Buy here with confidence

This dealership is the opposite of all the bad stereotypes around car dealerships. Juan and Mariah are top notch on the sales side. They actually take care is you as a customer. Eddie is the most personal and competent finance manager I’ve ever dealt with. If everyone could buy from these great people the stereotype of buying a car would be complete different!

Nice Experience

I was looking to buy a used Jeep Compass for my daughter. The sales person was very calm and not pushy at all. Let me test drive several cars with no pressure. Knowledgeable about the cars. Overall a very good experience and I recommend them.
