Don't even bother...

Only giving this place 1-star because the salesperson was nice. Other than that...everything else was downhill after that. Bought my 2014 Chevrolet Impala Limited LT back in April of 2021. A nice, clean looking car. Salesperson told me it was owned by a local old couple who took good care of the car. I was also told that there was "minor" front-end damage to the car. I asked him if he knew what kind of damage and he told me he didn't know, but it couldn't have been that serious because there was no evidence it had been in an accident. Despite my better judgement. I went along with the purchase and contacted my bank for the loan. .At purchase, I told the salesperson there was a problem with the steering and that it needed a set of new tires on the front. He took it for a test drive and told me he couldn't see a problem with the steering...and that he would replace the tires on the front and give me a free oil change. Against my better judgement, I bought the car and drove it back home to Sylva. Not even a month goes by and the trouble begins. They must've forgot to put the right oil or not enough oil in the car because the oil change reminder came on. I took it to the Chevy dealership in Waynesville for the oil change. Not long after, the car overheated, so I took it to my tech and was told the radiator needed to be replaced. That was a $900 job. Not long after that, I noticed the new front tires wearing prematurely. They were new tires. Took it to my mechanic and the front struts and the inner and outer tie-rod ends needed replacing...another $900 job., not even 2 days after having that work done to the car...the steering rack and steering pump failed. That was a $2,700 job. Now I'm replacing the tires all around because of all the other damage and that's another $513. I'm pretty sure the rear shocks/struts need replacing, but after all I've sunk into this car...it'll have to wait. I bought the car for $8,000. So far...$5,000 in repairs. I'd call Sam and Dave's and give them a piece of my mind, but I'm pretty sure I'd get an earful of crap. Caveat emptor...let the buyer beware. Stay away from this used car dealer.

Best experience in buying a car. Great car; great price. Can't say enough good things about dealing with this company. We would not hesitate to get our next vehicle from them. Justin was wonderful.

Fantastic Place To Buy A Vehicle

My wife and I came to Sam and Dave's the first time in December 2016 and purchased a Subaru. It's been a great car! Justin took great care of us and gave us a great deal on the Subaru. I would definitely recommend checking out what they can offer you here. It'll definitely be worth it!

great car buying experience

We was very impressed with Sam and daves when we got there was real impressed with how nice everybody was especially when we asked to drive the escalade witch was blocked in by a few cars cause they had so many but it didn't take them but just a few min to get it out. Johnathan was very nice with helping us purchase our new vehicle I will definitely be telling my friend about Sam and daves

Great experience!

Bought two cars at different times from Justin. Awesome experience. They've also helped me get a couple dings fixed in my suburban. Both our cars from them have been great & I thought the trade in was very fair on my van.

Not as responsive as other dealers I contacted

The person who contacted me from this dealership was not very responsive with the questions I asked. I will say that the price he quoted me was very good, but I could never find out from him if this was the out-the-door price or if there were other fees besides tax, title & tag. I decided not to make the two hour drive and instead found a vehicle closer to where I live. It was strange based on my experience with the other dealers I contacted. Everyone else was very responsive. I concluded that maybe this was a small dealership or maybe they already sold the car I was interested in.

Sam and Daves were excellent

Working with Jonathan Barr to purchase a vehicle was easy, straight forward and professional. If they have a vehicle you're interested I highly recommend you contact them.

Best buying experience to date

I got an absolute steal on a low mileage lifted Tacoma that's the envy of all who behold its magnificence. I couldn't be more proud of my truck, or more pleased with Sam & Dave's. I contacted Sam & Dave's through their website and got a response from Jonathan within hours. I called him and told him which of his trucks caught my eye, expressing that it was near but not quite within my budget. He was direct and no-nonsense in responding with the lowest price he could offer, with no sales pressure whatsoever. I struggled over the next week to find a better deal on the same truck anywhere from Southwest Virginia to South Florida, both from auto dealers and from private owners. I couldn't. My credit union loan agent was even impressed with the price. Jonathan continued to honor the price he quoted me with steadfast honesty. There were no doc fees or any other unpleasant surprises: the price he quoted was the exact dollar amount of the check he accepted (not including tax and tags of course, which I'll handle at the county clerk's office back here in TN). He even agreed without debate to fill up the gas tank, give it a wash, and replace a missing tire valve stem cap while we completed the sale. A few people have given Sam & Dave's unfavorable reviews. Most seem to come from customers expecting the reliability of a new Honda from cars of unreasonable age or mileage. Caveat emptor, people. If your budget is less than 10 grand, you're going to end up with someone else's problems. On the other hand, if you limit your choices to vehicles with low mileage, I think you'll be pleased with Sam and Dave's.
