Highly recommended!!

I would highly recommend Charleston Auto Sales as a place to find a car! reasonably priced and they really try to go the extra mile to ensure that you have a positive experience and that you have a reliable vehicle!! Thank you Jim!!

Best in the low country for used Subaru's

With only 1 day to buy a car and only a small savings account I was able to find and afford a Subaru Outback at Charleston Auto ! The staff was helpful and friendly and let me go over everything I needed to be certain I had a car that would last ! If you are in need of a car then Jim Gerow at Charleston Auto can help you ! When I'm able to upgrade I will certainly go back to see Jim again !

Disappointed & misled

Initially, I liked the laid back, self-serve atmosphere, but after purchase there were problems with the vehicle that SHOULD have been addressed in the "inspection" each car supposedly gets. The owner tells you that he will take care of it but after purchase he doesn't care about you at all. I've waited for over 2 hours on site for my rotars to be changed and they never got to me, and for weeks I have been trying to get that done and they are apparently too busy to service their loyal customers for a 20 min fix that was their fault in the first place. MAKE SURE YOU GET INSPECTED AT ANOTHER PLACE BEFORE PURCHASE!!!

Great experience!

Nice, pressure free way to purchase a car. Responses to my emails and texts were always prompt. I look forward to buying again from James when my other car needs replacing later this year. Love my Forester!!

Solid deal - Satisfied

After having an extremely frustrating experience with my previous dealer's maintenance department I was ready to get a new car. The car I purchased was below blue book value and I was given the blue book value of my car for a trade in. Charleston Auto Sales has a low overhead (no funding race cars, new showrooms, etc.). This provides the buyer a good deal on a solid car.

Solid "No Frills" experience at Chas. Auto Sales

Recently purchased a 2005 Subaru Forrester for my son from Jim G., Owner. Jim specializes in pre-owned Subaru vehicles and I enjoyed the experience. His "No Frills" business model keeps his expenses down which enables him to pass along significant savings to the end consumer. I enjoyed meeting Jim, he is easy to reach, takes all calls, and certainly seems trustworthy. Let's face it, there is going to be some down-side risk assoicated with buying any car that is 9 years old. I took the vehicle to Gerald's Tires for a quick/general analysis prior to closing the purchase. Gerald's pointed out that the rear brake pads would soon need to be replaced. Jim never hesitated and had the brake pads installed at his expense. It's early, but the next time I am in need of a vehicle, I'll definately give him a shot at the sale. Check out his website and compare his "no haggle" pricing to Kelly Blue Book values. If you pay attention and shop his site regularly, you will like the way he prices his inventory "to move".

Best car-buying experience--ever!

Completely satisfied, in every respect. Jim Gerow is honest, friendly, exerts no pressure or phony "salesmanship," but let's the quality of his cars do the selling. He simply offers them for the best price he can, you can accept it or not--NO HAGGLING! Also, it took us no time at all to agree on a fair price for my trade in. I bought a 2012 Subaru Outback on 6/6/14 and am enjoying it, fully. This was the best car-shopping/buying experience of my life--by a mile, and I enthusiastically recommend Charleston Auto Sales to anyone! You can't do better!

Highly recommended no pressure experience

A great deal on an excellent car. The buying experience was significantly better than dealerships. Jim was not pushy at all and the atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. The offer on my trade-in was also much better than I was quoted at several local dealerships. I've had the car for two months now and it has had no problems whatsoever.

A one-of-a-kind used car buying experience!!

I purchased a 2000 Subaru legacy outback from Jim a few months ago. I'm an Atlanta native, but I go to school in Charlottesville, so I had to drive the car all the way back from Charleston! Jim runs a great business, and he was incredibly honest throughout the whole process. I've been driving my subaru for several months and have had nothing but routine maintainence to take care of. I love my subaru, and I highly highly recommend anyone interested in buying a used Subaru to check out Jim's shop. His prices are nearly unbeatable since he's the single owner and operator of a warehouse, with only one assistance. This makes for incredibly cheap prices since you're avoiding dealership costs. I could speak volumes of how strongly I feel about the quality of Jim's business and the Subaru's he gets back on the road, but I'll leave it at that!

After emailing back and forth about a particular car, I called Jim in the morning before I left from Savannah to check it out. I arrived at the dealership in Charleston and he informed me that he had somehow 'forgot' to mention the check engine light was on in the car. After looking up the error codes which were causing the problem I found out the repair would be a rather expensive one, to which when confronted about it he said 'I don't know, my mechanic handles that'. Just another used car salesman.
