Write a reviewTerrible sales experience and overall treatment
Took time to test drive a certified camry. Nice car. Terrible sales experience. Given a car w no fuel (15 miles till empty). Put fuel in at our expense. Came back and met with sales man(Tyler) who played on his tablet the entire time we were at his desk. Made a cash offer on car , he looked up from his tablet and said “ we are a one price shop” and proceeded to play on his tablet. We just left. Will never step foot in this dealership ever again

Love Toyotas and Ackerman is the best!
This was a new world for me ordering a car by looking at a photo. It made me a little nervous to say the least. I chose this dealership because I heard from a friend that they were not charging above the MSRP sticker price. All of my questions and the ordering process was all done by phone calls, email and text. I would give my sales person Ryan O’Leary 10 stars if I could. He was patient, knowledgeable and always responded promptly to my questions. He made the whole experience great. But, beyond that after a few months of owning my new car I had an accident and my car is in the repair shop. A part that is needed to repair my car is on nation wide backorder!!! I was looking at car rental out of my pocket for the expense. I discussed this problem with Ryan and he and his sales manager located 3 dealerships that have this part in stock. It is now ordered and hopefully I will be back in my new car soon!!. This is above and beyond folks! They did not have to take their time to help me, and I do not think most dealerships would. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a helpful, knowledgeable sales person who stands behind the sale. I will update this review when I am back in my car! So happy I chose Ackerman and worked with Ryan on the purchase.

Liars and Thieves
Thieves and Liars. I moved from California and have not been anywhere else but Ackerman for my services. I had wheel locks that were a third party. After more than a year of service with Ackerman, one day I hit a pot hole that totaled one of my tires. When looking for my wheel lock to replace with a spare tire I could not find my wheel lock and had to get it towed to Ackerman. After looking everywhere for my wheel lock, Ackerman insisted they did not have it even though they've rotated my tires for more than a year. Either they never rotated my tires and charged me or they lost my wheel lock. Couple days goes by trying to figure out what to do, carless, I make the decision to brake my wheel locks and have everything replaced. They quoted me $1400 per tire. Thankfully one day I called when I was about to move forward, I caught the manager and explained to him what was going on. He somehow found this wheel lock, again this is a third party wheel lock which is only ONE kind! They had my wheel lock the whole time and told me I misplaced it and was about to charge me $1400 per tire to brake and replace the tires and locks. Another time, this female employee charged me for a $400 "filter", another time $240 for a "filter". Because my air conditioning had some issues with odor. When the smell did not go away I asked them what those charges where and they weee not able to find them in their system even when I showed them charged in my card from Ackerman and they always said someone will call you back. These people are snakes and liars and will sweet talk you into paying them more. I am forced to drive to Saint Peter's to get my car serviced because I do not trust anyone that worked at Ackerman besides the manger who thankfully saved me from spending thousands because their employees are snakes and liars. I do not recommend this place and wish they would own up to there lies and pay me back.

UNETHICAL!
UNETHICAL! Went in on 5/03/22 for an oil change and tire repair. Initial visit started off wrong as the first guy I encountered was argumentative when I asked for a patch plug. He insisted I didnt need one and that they wouldnt do one. Which they surely did not. Mark Wright was my service advisor who stated after a multi-point inspection it was noted that I needed front and rear brakes. He stated the front break rotors just needed to be turned/resurfaced but that I needed new rotors and breaks in back. I asked which breaks needed to be done first he stated front breaks were worse. Even though there was no squeaking or stuttering when I applied pressure to my breaks. Upon inspecting my last visit to a Lexus dealership 4/21/21 my front breaks were 6-12mm and back were 4-5mm. Breaks usually last 20-60k miles I drove 22k. According to Toyota my front breaks 3mm and back breaks were 2mm(it would seem I needed back breaks first) On 5/20/22 I returned to have my front breaks placed as I was told I needed those first. After about an hour and half Mark Wright came out and stated they tried to resurface my rotors 6 times and failed so I will need new rotors and there would he an additional $170. I reluctantly agreed to the new rotors. To my suprise my car was complete in roughly 10-15min which was extremely fast. This made me believe they already had the rotors on and/or I didnt need them and those are the same rotors yet the plan was for the additional cost in supply and labor. I would question however why would anyone try to resurface and destroy rotors without informing the customer prior? What if I didnt have the additional $170 to spare? Would they have put the bad/ destroyed rotors back on and let me drive out? After the second try I should have been informed that way I would have had the option to refuse their service. Lastly, I know for a fact NO multi-point inspection was done as I am in desperate need of a new rear windshield wiper(see attached) no way they could marked that as “good”. I would NEVER go back to this place nor should anyone else. Their practices are very unethical. If I wanted to be bamboozled, hoodwinked and lead astray I would have went to a Lexus dealership. 😡

Use Ackerman Service At Your Own Risk
Bought a Rav4 in March of 2020 and the purchasing experience was fantastic. Used Adam Gabor. Unfortunately, our experience with the service department is drastically different. After a few months (and a few uneventful routine service intervals) the car started losing gas mileage (went from 43 MPG to 31 MPG during the entire span) and these knuckleheads could not figure out why. They would give you any excuse they could to get you to leave. Even tried to tell us the lost gas mileage was due to driving into headwinds (worked directly with Mark Beatles). Even after it broke down on the highway and we had it towed to them to be fixed, they sent us out with the car and it broke down and had to be towed again within 50 miles of getting it back. This is when they told us they could do nothing else for us under warranty (we drive a lot of miles so it was out of warranty even though troubles started while it was not) and we would have to pay if we wanted them to troubleshoot it (like we would ever have confidence they could fix something right). The car was just over a year old and had been serviced by Ackerman at all of the recommended intervals. At this point we went to another dealer and purchased a different car. Will never use this dealership again due to their inept and disrespectful service department.

All About Profit; Lackluster Customer Service
2010 Toyota Prius Edit: Everything below still stands but I need to provide an update to justify the 1 Star rating. Yes, they initially "worked with me," but then my A/C, in which they "fixed" went out again not a month later, having the same symptoms it had previously. However, this time they said it wasn't their fault and was not associated to the work, that a rock had "blown through a hose" and created the same issue that I had before. Despite my skepticism, I fixed it. Over $1K.. in addition to the thousands of dollars I'd already spent. Also, I paid to have the car FULLY checked out... a complete top to bottom check up for any other issues so when I went on a year-long assignment to Turkey my spouse would know the car was in good condition. It came back A-okay, with the exception of a few things I took care of before I left (new tires, oil change, etc.). So I left my family with a completely fixed car, and not a month after I left my wife takes it in because the engine light came back on again, but now they say a head gasket had blown and they have to replace the motor for $7.5K... that there was coolant dripping for quite awhile, which ruined the engine, hence the need to replace the engine. However, I paid to ensure the car was good before I left. The car was worth around $7K, less than the repairs and I'd already put in $5K into the car, so I said we'll trade it in. They said, okay no problem. I texted the representative, and she responded that someone would "be in touch," and I didn't hear back for 5 days. When I reached out, she then responded on behalf of the person that was supposed to reach out to me that the car was only worth $500 trade, after I have put over $5K into a vehicle at their facility for a problem that was never actually fixed while they also said my car was in great condition. She also said the car didn't run, which it did when we dropped it off. And they said I would also have to buy another vehicle through them for this trade. They then began calling my wife to ask when we'd pick up the vehicle off their lot when they realized I wasn't interested in that trade. I am stationed in Turkey for the military. How am I going to buy a car while in another country? I didn't want my wife to have to deal with it, so we donated it to Vehicles for Veterans. They SOLD it for $3.7K. And yes, it was running, and we drove off with it from the dealership. We were clear in the donation process on the vehicle's condition, yet it still sold for $3.7K, which makes me wonder what on earth Toyota was seeing. The lack of customer service after we have poured so much into that location is appalling. To be ghosted, dismissed, and jerked around is frustrating. I will never work with or through this dealership again. //BREAK// Previous Review: This is the second time I’ve used Ackerman Toyota. What allows me to give them a 5-star review was their willingness to reach out to other Toyota dealerships to see what work has already been done so I didn’t have to dish out more money into a failing A/C system for diagnostic testing. In the end my A/C fix cost me $1.6K, but Ackerman saved me more money than what I was originally offered four summers ago, and they didn’t make me go through unnecessary testing (more Freon refill with dye, A/C charge). I went four St. Louis summers without A/C.... and Ackerman worked with me to get the best deal I could, and they also located the issue to why my engine light kept coming on (everywhere else I took it to couldn’t find the issue and said my car was fine). While they did the work they gave me a loaner car. Overall, great experience. No one ever wants to spend so much on a car, but the work they did was great and they were easy to work with.

Never again
This was the second vehicle we purchased at Ackerman. I was noting the numbers while we were looking so I had a good idea of what our payments should be. Between salesman Quin and finance guy John, they slipped in some kind of extended warranty. I questioned it at the time but they teamed up with some double talk. Got home, found the discrepancy, immediately called and a add if we didn’t want it. My husband went in, told them again, and said that the payment needed to be adjusted. They said they’d make a call. We hear nothing for two weeks. A notice came today saying we’ll receive a check in the next 30 days payable to Toyota! So now we are still stuck with the higher payment and have to get the check to Toyota. Last vehicle we buy here. Oh, and both cars we’ve purchased apparently belonged to a retired city judge 🙄

Extremely overpriced
I bought a 2013 fj cruiser from here and overpaid by close to 10k to my embarrassment. To be fair, I didn't do much research and went in extremely naïve. This was my first new vehicle that I bought for myself and was unprepared. That being said, when I tried to negotiate they wouldn't budge a single cent and where extremely rude as if me even thinking I could negotiate a smaller price was ridiculous. I was also miss directed when the sales associate said they would take the price of sales tax off the vehicle if I traded in my old beater. I only found out when we were about to sign the papers that this wasn't true, and only then would the sales manager come out to meet me. At which point he informed me that I had been lied to about many other points of our deal. I should have walked away then and I regret giving them my business. There are plenty of other dealerships out there, go to any other one besides Ackerman.
