I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience needs to be shared. On February 13, 2026, I purchased a Mazda CX-30 from Ackerman Toyota. Within 24 hours of delivery, the vehicle had clear electrical issues that were ultimately traced to a damaged headlight assembly. At the time of sale, no safety inspection documentation was provided, and the condition of the vehicle raises serious questions about whether a proper inspection was completed. We took the vehicle to a Mazda dealership for diagnosis and repair. Before proceeding, I sent the full estimate to Ackerman Toyota (Ray Trout), and they approved the repair. Based on that approval, we moved forward and paid $2,296.03 out of pocket. After the repair was completed, Ackerman Toyota reversed their position, claiming they had not properly reviewed the estimate and refused to reimburse the full amount. Instead, they sent a check for $500. To be clear: • They approved the repair in advance • We relied on that approval • They then refused to honor it In addition, the vehicle was delivered with: • Moisture in the headlight assembly • A failing 12V battery • A missing manual key • No visible or provided Missouri safety inspection This is not just poor customer service — it’s a failure to stand behind a transaction after giving explicit approval. I would strongly caution anyone purchasing from this dealership to get everything in writing and verified, as post-sale support has been inconsistent at best. I am still hopeful Ackerman Toyota will take responsibility and resolve this properly.

Dealer response

We're sorry that you didn't have a completely satisfying visit. Would it be possible to have someone from our management team reach out to you directly to discuss? We'd love the opportunity to address any issues with our team here. Thank you for your time, and hopefully, we can get to the bottom of this.

Consumer response

I have emailed your team and your team has responded that they do not feel liable for a car that failed less than 24 hours after pick up, nor when they told me to go to Mazda for repair, and when I sent the estimate to them, they said approved for reimbursement. Then later said we miss read estimate we are only sending you $500

Very pathetic customer service, rudeness is un understatement! Stopped here because I had an emergency all the attendants flat out ignored me,the woman that talked to me after getting off the phone asked if I had an appointment and started yelling at me that there’s no no to check my car,I kindly asked to have someone check if I needed a battery she printed some papers and told me To pay $348,no diagnosis or nothing I said nope I’ll go to a battery place, she told me to stop wasting her time and I need to leave! Pathetic! Place when you look a certain way or you look like me please keep driving and go where your money is appreciated!!

I bought a Toyota RAV4. Best vehicle I have ever owned. I talked to a Tyler Baker. Very nice guy. He was not pushy and found me just what I asked for. Best dealership around. Thank you very much Tyler.

I can't say enough good things about my experience at Ackerman Toyota — and especially about working with Brad G. From start to finish, Brad made the entire car-buying process incredibly easy and stress-free. I was able to trade in my vehicle seamlessly (seriously, it felt effortless), and Brad walked me through every step of getting into my new car without any pressure or hassle. What really stood out was how much he genuinely cared about making sure everything was perfect — not just the sale itself, but all the details that came after. Brad went the extra mile to help me take care of a few cosmetic things — including scratches and a chip in the windshield — after the purchase. That kind of follow-through and attention to detail is rare, and it made me feel like more than just another customer. If you're considering buying a car and want someone who is honest, helpful, and committed to making the process smooth, ask for Brad G. at Ackerman Toyota. I left with a car I love and the peace of mind that I was taken care of every step of the way. Highly recommend!

I have driven Toyota Camry’s for the past 25 years. This was the worst sales and financing experience I have had. I live 5 hrs anway and bought the car online. The day I went to pick up the car our sales person was too busy helping other people, we finally went and asked him for the second set of keys so we could leave. The Finance Department was not forward about what I was paying for in taxes and assured me I was paying no further fees or my person property taxes. It took me almost a month of constant hounding the dealership to get an accurate description as to what my money went to. When I finally received the paperwork, I had financed my personal property taxes, not knowing and I had fees that equaled approximately $375 that I was not informed about. In fact I was told the only fees I had the day of the sale was the $299 in fees to the dealership. The people were nice but they did not provide accurate information and I question if it was dishonesty or not knowing and they were not helpful with providing the needed information after the sale was finalized. Nor were they very interested in assisting with what was being asked.

Very pleasant car buying experience. We purchased a well-priced Gold Certified vehicle that is truly like brand new. And we were given a fair amount for our trade in. People were great to work with. Overall an A+ transaction!

Took time to test drive a certified camry. Nice car. Terrible sales experience. Given a car w no fuel (15 miles till empty). Put fuel in at our expense. Came back and met with sales man(Tyler) who played on his tablet the entire time we were at his desk. Made a cash offer on car , he looked up from his tablet and said “ we are a one price shop” and proceeded to play on his tablet. We just left. Will never step foot in this dealership ever again
