A waste of time and a waste of money

I don't even know where to begin. I found a car online that I really liked so I decided to go and look at it. Keep in mind that I live an hour from the dealership but nothing close was suiting my needs. So, I traveled out to Kingston thinking it would be the first and last time I go out there. I buy my car out of pocket, because I have been saving up for a really long time to finally get something nice for myself. I sign all the paperwork and I drive back to my house as happy as I could be. The owner was an xxx to me, but at least they have a decent salesman who took care of me. A week later I start hearing this like grinding sound so I call up the dealership as my car is still under warranty. They tell me to bring it in so they can look at it, and that's what I did. I figured why not they were decent the first time might as well it's free. So, I drive an hour for them to tell me sorry we don't have the parts on hand, but do not fret because we are replacing your whole backend and we are more than happy to give you a rental car, but we don't have any on hand. Okay, that's fine. I made an appointment and I called the night before to ensure everything was going to go my way. I'm only 20 so I didn't know I wasn't old enough to rent a car. They told me the night before but I decided hey they have the part it's worth it to drive another hour to go and get my car fixed. So, I get there and believe it or not THEY DO NOT HAVE MY PART ON HAND. Why wouldn't they tell me this before I drove an hour to get my car fixed? Beats me. Anyway, I tell them i'm done wasting my time and please call me when my part is in. So, they did. I got to the dealership at 10, and I'm waiting for them to fix my car. The mechanic here is a joke and I overhead him tell the owner that he can't fix my car? This is the worst car experience I have ever had. It's not worth my time or my money to go to this dealership. Please don't waste your time or money on this dealership. Nobody deserves to be treated like this. Please wish me the best of luck on getting my car fixed. Thank you!

Awesome Experience

I am a disabled former master tech, I needed an affordable car and they had a real nice one that fit my budget perfectly. I was real happy with how I was treated and they even picked me up and dropped me home twice during the process. I had one issue the heater motor went and they took care of it immediately. Can't say enough about this little place I'll def come back in like say 10 years ;)

Great! I'll Go Back When I Need Another Car

Tri-Star Auto Sales in Kingston has been great. I bought a used VW Jetta over Memorial Day Weekend. The car was in very good shape for the years and it had low mileage. They quoted me a fair price (according to online car quotes), and they were willing to negotiate to close the deal quickly. They got me low interest financing by helping me join my local credit union. There was one issue with the car a few months after I bought it. The radio/CD player stopped working. They replaced it with a new radio/CD player, even though there was no warranty and no obligation on their part. I'll definitely go back when I'm in the market for another car.

Great sales, bad service

I went to the dealership because I was looking for a good replacement vehicle for my Volvo S60, I needed something with more back seat room. I found a Vw Passat that fit the bill, perfect condition inside and out, no fluids leaks what so ever, even had a set of new Goodyear RSA's on it. Ron was a great salesman and was able to get financing super fast through TEG. Mike matched the trade in price Kingston Nissan would have given me for my Volvo so I took the Passat. A few days after taking the car home I noticed clicking in the dash when the climate control was off. I did some online research and found the problem, a common recirculation motor issue that almost all Vw's experience. Went back to Tri-Star and Ron set up an appointment to have it fixed at Autotech, which shares the same building with them. I dropped the car off on 12/16/13. Called Ron on 12/19/13 and he said that the car needed 2 motors and it would be fixed on the following Monday/Tuesday. I called the following Tuesday 12/24/13 and the car was not done. Ron now told me it would be done after Christmas. I called back on the 27th, not done, but Ron gave me a free rental and promised me it would be done Monday 12/30/13. I called back Monday, and again, it wasn't done. At this point I became irate, They had the car for 15 days and still the car was not fixed. The next day i drove in and spoke with Mike, 16 days and the car was not repaired. Mike told me he was not to blame because even though Tri-Star sold the car, Autotech was the one repairing it, not an excuse in my book!!! Mike says he doesn't own Autotech but the guys that work for Autotech are the ones that move the cars around his lot. I had grown tired of the excuses and took my car and the two motors that Mike had kindly given me to my own mechanic, Jerrime at Good Automotive in Lake Katrine. The dash was out and on the way to Jerrime I noticed that the Monsoon radio had deep stratches around the key holes where Autotech tried to pry it out, great. I got to Good Automotive and Jerrime was able to switch out the motors and put the dash back together in an hour and a half. Thanks Jerrime!!! Don't get me wrong, Tri-Star has really nice cars at good prices and Ron is an excellent saleman but don't expect to much if you have an issue after the purchase.

Tri star auto sales rocks!

Found the dealership on line. This dealership is small but so worth the trip. Ron is very professional and friendly. I found an awesome ford escape with low miles and at a very fair price! Sae that it needed wiper blades as we were leaving the dealership and Ron made sure we had brand new ones on the vehicle before we left! He really went the extra mile and I would not hesitate to come back again. Have a 60 day warranty but hope we don't have to use it. Overall a very pleasant experience!
