Variable Pricing is the new way to describe Bait &

Variable Pricing is the new way to describe Bait & Switch. New name, same old con. Used car dealers and salesmen have a reputation, and it’s for a good reason. Overland West Car sales (DBA Hertz Car Sales), salesman Eric, and manager Cody, fit the reputation to a T. They demonstrate an alarming lack of integrity. Further, they are now armed with the modern iteration of the good old Bait & Switch. Today they call it Variable Pricing, a situation wherein prices can go up or down (UP, who are we kidding) on a minute by minute basis based on demand. Guess what, if you show interest in a car, the car is in demand. From Overland West I received 4 progressively higher prices, in writing, over a 36 hour period. The biggest price escalation came after I informed them I had sold my existing vehicle. If any dealership or salesman demonstrates this much dishonesty, you need to question and verify anything they have said concerning the condition of the vehicle, the deal, financing, and every other aspect of the transaction. Salesman Eric seems to follow the 33% rule. Talk about your own experience, integrity, and honesty 33% of the time. Talk about the incredible integrity and business honor of the dealership 33% of the time. And finally, talk about the car, the very best example of a nearly perfect used car 33% of the time. If the customer balks at any point, give them the old…”You want to talk to my manager?” They can also read a customer. Type of car = luxury, the mark has disposable income – so jack up the price. Payment type = cash or cash & trade, the mark can afford more, so jack up the price. Already sold their vehicle = the mark really needs to make a deal, jack the price yet again. Fortunately, I was not desperate to purchase, and I was willing and able to walk away from the Overland West xx. It turns out I looked a little harder, and a little further, and got a factory certified vehicle with 3 year Bumper to Bumper warranty for just a few hundred more than the final price I was quoted. My recommendation…verify everything, and if you smell a rat - walk away. You want to be the one who got away.

Great buying experience with Hertz in Idaho falls

The wife and i had the best time buying a car from Hertz, Dale Oe our salesman was great no pressure just great on knowledge answered all questions on the spot. We picked three different cars to test drive and Dale had them all running and warmed up, we drove each one of them with no pressure. We just had a good time meeting Dale he is quite a guy. Never had fun buying a car before, but we did this day with Dale. And the paper work process was a breeze.

Easy and pleasant experience.

My wife totaled her vehicle so we were in a bit of a time crunch. Bill was extremely friendly and easy to deal with. As soon as I told him I was interested, he held the vehicle for me until I was able to make it down to Idaho Falls to check it out. We got a great deal on our 2019 Highlander and would definitely work with him again!

It was easy, whit a lot of info. And options

The salesman was very polite, and friendly. And at the end he gave me a good deal that include a brand new set of tires for my Nissan Rouge 2019

Can’t get a straight answer

We purchased a vehicle online; did everything asked of us in a timely manner. Our financial institution wired the funds In full including for the transportation Nov. 1st. I was told the vehicle would leave Monday the 4th and arrive Friday the 8th. On the 7th at 6pm our sales person “Johnny” informs me the vehicle never left their dealership. It is now Monday the 11th and we’ve yet to be given so much as a date that the transportation company will even pick it up, much less when we’ll receive it. In the mean time, we just get the run around from Cody the GM. He did inform me that he sells so many cars that he can’t be involved in all the dealings. Ironically my wife was able to get a quote and delivery date from another 3rd party (Road Runner) in about 10minutes time. Kudos to your sales volume Cody! Thanks, Justin Wright Lubbock, TX 896-441-3175

Highly satisfied

Dale Oe was as good as it gets as far as customer service is concerned. This was my first car buying experience and Dale gave me confidence throughout that I was going to go home with the car I had chosen. Highly satisfied.
