About our dealership

This seller has been on Cars.com since August 2011.
Reds Auto and Truck was founded in 1974 by David "Red" Widhalm. Red began selling quality used cars from his Conoco service station in Denver Colorado. He quickly earned a reputation as a honest and straight forward business man. It is this reputation and straight forward no pressure attitude that has been a mainstay ever since.
Reds Auto and Truck is now proudly owned and operated by Reds youngest son Mike Widhalm. Mike has transformed the once "neighborhood" only dealership into a thriving E-dealer. We now have customers all over the US and the world. Our E-dealer model allows for LOW overhead costs so we can pass the saving on you.

Went last Saturday, 1st day of 90 degrees and it was

Went last Saturday, 1st day of 90 degrees and it was super busy but the owner, Mike, found the time to help us. We drove 2 Dodge Chargers and by the time we were done it was 10 minutes until closing so we opted to apply on line for financing. We were promptly called Monday morning by Curt who went over our application and said he would let us know when approved. Not 15 minutes later we were approved and headed back to Colorado (from Wyoming) to pickup the car. Curt greeted us as he was addressed a concern we had on the car and when finished went over everything very thoroughly in the office. He handed us off to Justin who had us sign paperwork and we were off! The most pleasant experience ever that we have had when purchasing a car! Everyone was helpful, knowledgeable and professional. I appreciate everything Curt, Mike and Justin did to make our experience enjoyable. Great team! Recommend highly!

I bought a 2007 Jeep Cherokee from Red's several years

I bought a 2007 Jeep Cherokee from Red's several years ago and have nothing but trouble with this vehicle since I have owned it. I contacted them shortly after purchasing the vehicle about a rattle in the under carriage. The told me to bring the car in and they would check it out, which I did....twice. They said nothing was wrong with it. WRONG! I took it to a mechanic and it required new bushings. That helped, but I was told that the struts would need to be replaced and should have been done at 50,000 to 100,000 miles and this car was at 120,000 when I bought it. So they must of known what the issue was. Now the car will need new struts at $1,600 for parts and at least another $300-$600 for labor. I'm so upset because my daughter and grandaughter have been using this car, and obviously it is not safe to drive. AND, it was covered under the highly priced warranty that you sold me at the time I purchased the car!!!

I recently purchased a 2002 Pontiac Firebird from Red's

I recently purchased a 2002 Pontiac Firebird from Red's Auto & Truck in Colorado. The only issue is that I live in Louisiana. ( A little background: I was buying the car as a gift for my brother. It is the exact same year, make, model, and color of one that he used to own several years ago. It nearly broke his heart when got into an accident which totalled it!) Initially I was a little apprehensive about buying a car online but my salesman (Mike Willis) explained the whole process to me.He was patient with me and answered all of my questions. He called every day to keep me updated on the progress. He even arranged for the shipping. From the time I contacted them, to time I received the car was a little over a week! Their financial salesman (Justin) found me a vehicle warranty I could afford. All in all, a good experience!

Please be cautious when going here!

Please be cautious when going here! I went to look at a 2008 Toyota vehicle with 80k miles at this dealership. While looking it over, I found many problems with an attempt to cover them up. Some that were cosmetic (like the dash being completely destroyed, but covered up with a dash cover), but many that needed repairs. The top of the engine was cleaned to cover a major oil leak from the heads. Power steering leak, cv joints were trash, ball joint boots shredded, transmission fluid smelled burnt, transmission seal leak, brake pads on their last stretch, seatbelt that would not latch. The list goes on. One major problem was the chassis basically rotting away and covered by DIY undercarriage spray. A BIG red flag for anyone looking for a used vehicle! This vehicle was advertised as in great condition online for about $17,000. They would not drop the price by a penny even after mentioning some issues I found. It is understandable a used vehicle comes with problems, but the problem was this dealership pretending these issues didn't exist. I decided I didn't want to spend $17K on a project. Before having the chance to tell the salesman I didn't want it, he came out of the building agitated and said, "are you going to buy this vehicle or not?" I walked away. Take some time to look over a used vehicle, and don't let salesmen push you into purchasing junk. It is your money, and salesmen just want to take it.

Dealer response

Jay, as a small business owner I was very surprised and disappointed to see your review. The Handicap upfitted 2006 Sienna you viewed here at our store for your daughter was none of the things you describe in this review. Our website had 111 high-resolution pictures including underside photos that clearly show there is absolutely no rust as you state, and the "coating" is from the Upfitter when the factory floor was removed to install the handicap equipment which is a $40,000 upfit, the CV Axles have no tears or rips and no grease loss, the underside is dry as a bone, and the dash is not destroyed all this is shown in the pics provided in the link in this response. https://www.redsautoandtruck.com/inventory/2006-toyota-sienna-xle-7-passenger/727897 If dealer rater will not post the link I encourage anyone reading this review to go to our website and check out the 111 photos of the "sold" 2006 Sienna and judge for yourself. We sold this van only a few days later to a great customer on the Western Slope who also brought their mechanic for their nonprofit with them and they did not note or mention any of the issues, with the exception of the broken seat belt buckle for the wheelchair strap down., which we agreed to fix, but they were not even worried and bought it and drove it home that day. Running a small business in today's economic climate is a challenge every day and we pride ourselves on going above and beyond for our employees and our customers. I understand no used near 20-year-old vehicle is going to be perfect and we never sell anything as perfect. However, the misrepresentation in your review is simply not warranted and is a outright lie that makes these daily challenges even harder. link https://www.redsautoandtruck.com/inventory/2006-toyota-sienna-xle-7-passenger/727897

Rick Hawkins and Red’s are the best.

Rick Hawkins is excellent. Straightforward, opposite of a stereotypical car salesman. Pleasure doing business with these folks. Will Patronize again in the future thanks much.

Ask for Rick

Helped a friend pick out and buy a truck at Red’s Auto & Truck. We worked with Rick Hawkins and he was refreshingly knowledgeable, professional, and polite.

Reds is the Best!

This is now the third vehicle I have bought from them. They is never any pressure to buy and they give great trade in credits toward the new vehicle. They take the time to make sure that you are getting the one you really want. If they don't have it in stock they will find it for you. I wanted a black 3500, it took about three weeks and they found one I love. Thanks
