I have a 2017 Chevy Volt that is very clean with 98000

I have a 2017 Chevy Volt that is very clean with 98000 miles on it. Understand that Carmax has this car as a base model, same year and same milage on their site locally for 14, 990. I filled out the online form as I am selling my vehicle. They offered me $4100 !! That means that they are looking to make 10k on a vehicle that they are only paying me 4100 to acquire. Anything else one needs to know about how they do business??

I had a car shipped from Michigan to PA for $250.

I had a car shipped from Michigan to PA for $250. Which I think is cheap. After buying the car I found one a few days later I liked better. They took the car back no questions asked. No high pressure sales. And their Internet rep Tom was great. Kept me advised every step of the way. Their extended warranty is in house and legit as opposed to third party warranty providers. Was a great buying experience!

Do not have a vehicle transferred to this CarMax

Do not have a vehicle transferred to this CarMax (Lancaster, PA) or purchase a car from them. I paid to have a Jaguar transferred from Louisville. Car arrived on Tuesday and I went to drive and purchase it on Thursday. When I walked around the car prior to the test drive I noticed some pretty bad curb rash on the front wheel, driver's side. Sales manager stated, "You are buying a used car and this is within our standards." Manager later conceded the damage was more than their acceptable standard and he would have the wheel detailed. Told him I was not looking for a cosmetic repair. He later stated that if I would purchase the car he would have the wheel machined. After all it took to get to this point I didn't trust him and walked away from the deal. The damage to the wheel was fresh and may have even happened that day. When I first pointed it out to the manager we both touched the wheel and flakes of clear coat and aluminum easily fell off the wheel. It did not come from the other CarMax like that. I waited over a week and paid a $249 transfer fee only to have someone at CarMax Lancaster smack the front wheel into a curb then expect me to purchase the car because it was a "used car within their standards." In reality it was a DAMAGED used car damaged sometime between arriving in Lancaster and me showing up for a test drive. Between the sales rep and sales manager I must have heard at least four times, "We sell used cars and you can't expect the car to be perfect." I didn't expect perfection but I also didn't expect to pay $249 so someone could smack the car into a curb and think I wouldn't notice. The impact was significant enough that the tire hit the wheel well liner separating it from the fender such that the liner popped loose and was on the wrong side of the fender. The valve cap was completely missing also because it either came off due to the impact or was removed because it was visibly damaged. I asked the sales rep what kind of quality check program they have that they would send a Jaguar out on a test drive that didn't even have a valve cap on one of the tires. The valve stem was clean and shiny meaning the valve cap had not been off very long. I finally told the sales rep they had the situation backwards. I am the customer and in order for me to purchase a car, especially a Jaguar, it must meet MY standards and not The CarMax Lancaster standard which is obviously pretty low. The whole deal fell apart because someone took the car I paid to have transferred to the dealer for a spin and they damaged it. I told the sales rep CarMax had the duty to reduce the "no-haggle price" or repair the wheel prior to purchase since the damage was caused by CarMax. The sales manager's solution was for me to go ahead with the purchase then he would write a repair order and the wheel would be fixed at a later date. If he had made that offer initially I would have purchased the car on the spot. The car is now back in inventory with pictures online that show no indication of the damage because they are the pictures taken at CarMax Louisville prior to transfer. I have purchased cars from other CarMax outlets in the past but this is the first time I have encountered the "It's a used car and it's within our standards" mantra.

Gives you an offer, then asks you to come in and they will buy. They keep you waiting and then try to hassle you and lower the offer. They find reasons [that don't exsist to try to get you to take less. I would not buy anything from this kin of an operation. Furthermore you could get a better deal selling you car to a more reputable dealership.

Scam - not really convenient at all

They didn't bring in the cheap car I ordered and I ended up with a loan that is ruining my finances. I wouldn't shop there again.

My latest experience with Carmax will be my last. I...

My latest experience with Carmax will be my last. I reserved a vehicle for a test drive online and when I made the reservation, it showed the vehicle at the Lancaster location which is where I was going to do the test drive. Great! I get the confirmation email and it says it will be there and ready for the test drive. Great! I missed one call and called back to speak to Lauren, who was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I missed a second call and the last one was the most telling. Lauren said on the voicemail that the car was at the Mechanicsburg location...and NOT at the Lancaster location. What? I called customer service the next day to talk about my appointment and was told yes, the vehicle is indeed at the Mechanicsburg location. I asked how could this be because when I made the reservation, it said on the website it was at Lancaster. She said that sometimes they do inventory swaps between locations to meet demand, which makes sense. I then asked how could they do that when I made a reservation for a test drive and the vehicle should have been held for me? I didn't get an answer. I then came to find out that I had a new appointment for the upcoming Monday, which was news for me as I never made one for Monday. I had both appointments cancelled on the spot. To conclude, I will never again go to any Carmax again. Their system is unbelievably flawed and they won't be getting my business and I am actively in the market for a vehicle. I later went to cancel my online profile after canceling the appointment and the original vehicle reservation was still showing. Why am I not surprised?
