I took my car in based on a recall notice, for replacement of a defective EGR. Car drop off in the morning was great. Loaner was ready in pretty short... order. The loaner was a very nice sedan. I was notified that my car was ready for pick up at the end of the day. But, when I picked the car up, i noticed that the part was not replace. It was merely inspected. It takes me over an hour to drive to the dealership. It is a 2 1/2 hour round trip. I did that twice in two days, and no repairs were made. Not happy with that result.

I would like to start this review by saying that I have been coming to BMW of Fairfax for about 18 years. I have dealt with various service advisors, parts... advisors, and sales consultants. Every experience has been positive and wonderful. These are wonderful hard working individuals who really do their best to make you feel appreciated. This review is related to an experience I had on the morning of September 26, 2019. I found a used 2010 Honda Pilot EX-L listed for sale in the morning around 7.00AM. As the dealership is near my house I decided to stop by before heading out for work. The used car department opens a 9.00AM and I got there 8.:45AM. Upon arrival I was greeted by a used car manager who was very polite and professional. I explained to him my interest in the Honda Pilot and he confirmed that it was available. He subsequently assigned me to Mr. Alan Khani who queried his computer to get the details and keys. As we were talking I recognized Mr. Khani from a previous interaction few years ago and he was always been professional in my dealings with him. The used car manager came by with more details on the car and said that the car is in excellent condition and was “owned by an elderly gentleman…”. He also suggested that the car had come in the day before and just needs detailing and we can close on the transaction. Mr. Khani in the meantime grabbed the car keys and drove us to the parking lot where the car was located. I drove it a little bit and confirmed again that I would like to purchase. Mr. Khani took a picture of the odometer and I took some more pictures to send to my wife and tell her about the car. Once we got back to the dealership office we proceeded with paperwork and I told Mr. Khani I can write a full check for the car and possibly look at financing options. To that Mr. Khani made me fill out a BMW of America credit application. However, a few minutes later he was conversing with used car manager, and came back saying that the car is on “Hold”. Apparently, the general manager Mr. Mike Walker the general manager had put the car on hold for sale to an internal employee. To my surprise I explained that I got here a little over an hour ago before the dealership even opened but Mr. Khani said that he will let me know if this employee (mechanic) who’s credit is less than perfect would be able to purchase it. I left with extreme disappointment and extremely gut wrenching experience. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with selling internally to an employee or anyone. However, to have the Mr. Walker put a hold on the car whilst he was advertising it and keeping the deal for his employee left a hugely disappointing experience. I have left several messages for Mr. Walker and he has not called back. I found his lack of acknowledgment to be unprofessional and dishonest. This is a new low for this dealership which was un-imaginable. I am not advocating either way but explaining my negative experience. As noted before, the employees in service, sales, and parts are absolutely top notch. I take my 325i in for servicing regularly and would not let anyone touch it. I hope your experience is a positive one but mine left me hugely disappointed and I will look elsewhere to purchase any car.
Mr Singh, I apologize for the poor experience. Furthermore, you left me a voicemail that I failed to return. I should?ve reached out to you immediate...ly and explained the situation. My valued associate had inquired about that vehicle the night before and I asked my used car team to please put it on hold. That should?ve been communicated to you immediately but Mr. Khani was unaware. Our business is extremely fluid as you can imagine and it is truly impossible to know everything about every vehicle and every transaction. Your review almost makes it sound like my employee somehow is less deserving of the vehicle than you. That speaks volumes. And missing out on a used car was ?Got wrenching?? I hope this is the worst thing that ever happens to you. If so, I would consider it a charmed life. Had we been paying attention better we certainly could?ve saved you time but the end result would?ve been the exact same thing. There?s also a bit more to this than you put in your review but there?s no need getting into all of that. The bottom line is my team failed to communicate quickly and clearly and most importantly I dropped the ball with my lack of follow up. Mike Walker-BMW of Fairfax
I recently took my X4 in for rountine service at Fairfax BMW and my Service Advisor Thomas Grant is the best. He is always courteous and friendly. He... completely explains the service my car needs, estimates the time it will take to complete and regularly checks in with me on updates. He is always straight forward, honest and personable. I was very satisfied with my recent visit.

BMW of Fairfax is the "go-to" Service Dept in the Wash DC area. Service Advisors are knowledgeable and caring. It seems more like a "car hospital" than... anything. The admittance area is quick, easy to use and clean. The SAs are fast to get you checked in, and explain the process. Initially, i received a shuttle ride to my office. After the oil leak was found I was told promptly that the repair would take longer than expected, but Danika Edwards, who is fantastic, reserved a loaner car for me - a brand new X1 with about 1K miles. My car was repaired by the following day and they gave me a complimentary car wash. Excellent service and a fantastic crew at BMW of Fairfax!
