First off, I want to commend Jeff Patterson for being a great salesperson and helping us out throughout the challenging car buying process at Michael Hohl Subaru. If it wasn’t for him we would have not purchased a vehicle there, and I would do business with him again in a heartbeat if he was at another dealership, or was the sales manager. That being said I would never do business with this location again, because of Nick Reinhardt, and he will be the reason I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and FTC. We found the vehicle we purchased online and reached out before driving 2 hours over Donner Pass in a snowstorm to confirm the vehicle was still available at the listed price. We arrived and test-drove the vehicle and worked with Jeff to start the paperwork. We told him we were not interested in any optional add-ons, and he spoke with his manager who wanted to leave the extended warranty and Lo Jack. Once again we told him we were not interested, and allowed him to run our finances. After the finances were run, the sales manager “Nick” stormed into the office we were sitting in, so heated that he accidentally kicked the car the seat that my 2-month-old son was sitting in. He told us the Lo Jack was required and we had to purchase it with the vehicle. I told him I thought Lo Jack was an optional add-on, but he said no it is not optional. My wife mentioned the facts from the FTC Napelton case on the matter, but he once again said it was not optional. At that point, we agreed that we still wanted to purchase the car, and would pay the cost, but believed it should be optional. We had driven 2-hours in a snowstorm to pick it up, and being military members, would not have much flexibility to return. When we moved on to the final purchase of the car, Ian, tried to sell us all the additional options, and we declined. We once again told him that we did not want the Lo Jack, but he said his boss said it was not optional. When completing the Lo Jack documents, I pointed out how all 3 times they all said it was an optional service, but he confirmed all 3 times it was not optional and we had to pay for it. After that, we completed the transaction feeling deceived, since the “non-optional” Lo Jack was not included in the listing, and was not mentioned before we had driven 2 hours, over Donner Pass in the snow to see the car. We would have been happy to purchase the vehicle for the additional $799, but felt very deceived that it was not disclosed to us before we made the drive, and that even though it was listed as optional, it was not optional for us.

Dealer award? lol ok.. they can definitely sell a car but don’t live up to the hype in the Service department. 4 weeks in a row I have tried to get an appointment. I get transferred to a voicemail or a promise to get someone to call me back and they don’t. Today I had a girl promise to get me to someone, place me on hold to wait, then transfer me to a voicemail.. 5 times. The last 2 times she didn’t even answer, she just transferred me to a voicemail. Mind you,, I’m no Karen.. I expressed my frustration, she was apologetic but still no resolve and the same game: Be careful of who you buy from.. service and treatment is what you remember when you go to buy your new car. #michaelhohlsubaru

Thank you for the feedback Rachel - glad we could come to an understanding that it's probably best to use another Dealer for your Services. We apologize that we are under Construction and not everything has been perfect - to add to the bigger picture, than what is being delivered here. Currently we are in the process of adding 13 new bays and doubling our Express Lube services! An additional 20,000 square feet. Also, 8 Service Writers once open vs. the current 5. This will definitely ease the situation, offering more space and Staff to accommodate the demand. So while some bumps in the road to get there, it will definitely be worth it! Our expectation is that construction will be close to wrapping up in July/August. We wish you well with whomever you chose as your new Service provider.

I had a great experience with the service department for my 130,000mile service. My service associate, Sante could’ve been more helpful and know . I loved the loaner car that made my life so much more convenient and that the car was fantastic! My favorite person at the dealership was the woman that greeted me as I pulled up to deliver my car and also to return the loaner. Her name is Kelly Tyler. She was so friendly and clear on where I was to go to be assisted next. She made the my experience so welcoming!!

Micharl Hohl Subaru Service
This Subaru is the third vehicle we've purchased from the Michael Hohl franchise the first two were Honda's. All of our vehicles were and will be serviced through their dealerships. There is a reason they are the ones maintaining our vehicles it's alway done correctly and efficiently the first time. We have never had to have any service redone. It's nice knowing you can get in your automobile and drive away without worry. Now that's service!

I have purchased 2 cars from Michael Hohl Subaru in Carson City and have taken all of my repairs to them. In 2021 I purchased a new set of Cooper tires from them. In 2022 I took them there to rotate them. I complained about a leak in one of them and they said I did not have a leak. I still had a leak after they rotated it. Took It back a week a go to fix the leak and they told me one of my tires was not a Cooper tire and they could not fix the leak for me. I was accused of having one tire changed out somewhere else and this is not true. They will not fix the problem unless I purchase 3 more new tires. I cannot believe this was done to me by them, and will never go back and am considering lawyering up...

So Happy We Bought Our Car at Michael Hohl Subaru!
We started our new Subaru buying process at another corporate dealership in Reno, but found the attitude of one of the sales managers to be rude and dismissive. They seemed to not care if we bought a Subaru with them because others would, we were told. We drove to Michael Hohl Subaru in Carson City and were treated so differently. They were friendly, easygoing, and willing to work with us on our requests. It was the least stressful and most enjoyable car-buying experience we've ever had. We were happy that our sales rep never handed us off, except to finance once we were buying. Even finance was an easy and enjoyable process, all due to who we were working with. Michael Hohl is local and not corporate, and it shows. We saved money by going to Michael Hohl Subaru rather than shopping in Reno, as well. The service department guys we spoke with sounded helpful and friendly, so we plan on taking our new Subaru to their service department. We are so happy we bought from Michael Hohl Subaru and wouldn't go anywhere else when we are again in the market for a Subaru.

Very relaxing experience! Went in just to review the 2023 Outback models, at the time wasn't planning to purchase. The sales rep answered all of my questions, had two models for me to test drive. At no time did I feel pressured to purchase!!
