Do not buy from Crain Hyundai in Fayetteville or from any

Do not buy from Crain Hyundai in Fayetteville or from any business owned by the Crain family. My family recently purchased a used Chrysler 300 on October 3, 2024 and signed our paperwork (with Kaleb Matthews the financial manager and Caleb Royal the general manager) and drove off with our new car and new auto loan. We told Crain Hyundai on the day we signed for our car, that we were not sure if we could provide $3,000 as a down payment. We had went to only look at options on a vehicle. We were pushed to apply for approval and check our credit on the Chrysler 300. Once we were approved immediately by a financer, we again told Kaleb our concerns about the large down payment and asked if there were options for less upfront or if payments on the down payment could be possible. We were reassured that we were already approved and it was in our name. They encouraged us to leave with our new car providing zero money down, with the promise that we could make payments on the down payment and if for any reason we absolutely couldn’t do the full $3,000 that they could most likely get the bank to lessen the amount. It was all complete lies that nearly destroyed my family. Not only was it complete lies and manipulation, it was beyond unprofessional and misleading…it is almost unbelievable what they did as following retaliation and intimidation methods. We made our first small payment to them after and it was accepted by another finance manager and my husband was given a receipt for his payment on October 17th. My husband was told to stop by when he is able to continue paying off the remaining of the $3k down payment. We asked if we had a deadline on the amount and if we can have our temporary tag so we aren’t driving with only a dealership logo paper tag. We told them it felt illegal for them to hold the tag from us. We were reassured that it’s already in our name and they cannot take it back and to keep making payments and we’d get the paper tag when the down payment is paid in full. We left expecting to continue as directed. Crain Hyundai then turned on us! Crain Hyundai tried to ruin our reputation next and even lied to our own friends, and neighbors, but even to the Fayetteville police including abusing their resources and literally trying to have my husband arrested for “STEALING A TEST DRIVE CAR”?!!!! We found ourselves having friends message us asking us to please return a car we took on a test drive. We were appalled and horrified at the outrageous lies Caleb Royal had spun around to financially, reputationly, and emotionally ruin our family. We then find out from neighbors the police had been looking for my husband for a “STOLEN CAR”!!!! My husband contacted the police on the Veterans Day Holiday and had them look at his paperwork and insurance. They deemed it as not criminal, and that it was a civil matter and my husband was of course not arrested nor made to return our car. We told the police the illegal and misleading situation from Crain Hyundai and later also informed the BBB, and the attorney general. We are now in litigation and I would love to say much more of the heinous actions by Crain Hyundai Fayetteville and from the corporate office including Christian Crain himself, but it’s best not to say more until after litigation. Thankfully, we found a vehicle at another local dealership that was not affiliated with Crain. I feel the community needs to be aware and encouraged to avoid all Crain operations and businesses. I look forward to a resolution on this matter and I do hope there is a solution to also keep the community safe from other similar illegal and damaging situations occurring.

I am a teacher here in Fayetteville, and after school we

I am a teacher here in Fayetteville, and after school we brought the car to the dealership to have a sensor fixed. Crain thought that the sensor was the problem, unfortunately just 2 days later, the same problem occurred. When we brought it back to the dealership, they did not offer a rental for thier mistake. They didn't even get the car in or offer to help me in any way that day. I came back 24 hours later, the car is still not done, no rental offer, terrible service. My review is now 0 stars. I should have noticed the red flag and lack of integrity when they used the warranty under the previous owner's name to try to fix my car the first time. We are still here, car is still not done.

Worth it

This is by far the best dealership I’ve ever purchased from. Every aspect was professional and i can tell they pride themselves on being transparent and straight forward. I give extra kudos to Jeff, my salesman. He was down to earth and sincere! If you’re reading this review, ask for him by name, he’ll take care of you!

Quick, Easy, No Hassle

I purchased two Elantras within a 3 week period. I had purchased one in late December as a surprise for my son; It was a remote purchase made completely via email and phone with a dealership in Oregon. The second Elantra was also a surprise but for my daughter. I had high expectations that a local purchase should be even easier than the long-distance one. After a somewhat cold interaction at another dealership, I contacted Crain Fayetteville. Mike Wallace reached back out and was responsive, not pushy, helpful, friendly yet professional throughout the entire experience. Not only did Michael make it easy, he was honest and transparent regarding every step of the process. The handoff to Zachary (finance) went smoothly, and he too was a delight to work with. They were in on the surprise, so they helped me get the windows tinted before the pick-up. We drove in - she was surprised - Michael showed her all the features while I wrapped up paperwork with Zachary. They were thorough but quick; no delay tactics to try and upsell me. Respectful of my time. I STRONGLY recommend Crain Hyundai of Fayetteville.

Incredible experience! Ask for Jackson!

Okay, so first, there was Jim. He was absolutely wonderful and so kind, however, he had to get his vaccination and handed me off to Jackson. Jackson is truly the reason I bought my car from this dealership. He was honest, not intimidating, kind and so knowledgeable. He didn’t pressure me at all and genuinely wanted me to get the best deal possible. Scotty was also such a gem and so fun to work with. I was by myself, which can be so intimidating for a woman, but I was comfortable and taken care of. I would absolutely recommend this dealer to anyone! Such a positive experience.

Gouging customers is their Motto!

Zachary Reither - Service Advisor, or basically the guy that explains we have to charge ridiculous amounts because we are "a dealer". Went in to get my oil changed, no big deal $57/dollars. Then comes the "oh you need the following items as well" 1) Cabin Air Filter - "Dealer charge" $55, Orielly's part I bought $16, took me less than 3/mins to swap out. 2) 3 Tires Mounted - $720 Tax - Tire Rack, replaced all four tires $483 dollars, with the same tire they recommended. 3) Rear Shocks - $650 Tax - Took to another shop, the shocks are totally fine, don't need replacement. 4) Spark Plugs - $250 Tax - Orielly's $32 replaced them in less than 15/mins. 5) Alignment - $130 Tax - Tire Tracks $80 6) Transmission Fluid Exchange - $289 Tax - Cost me $66 Overall they tried to over charge me under the premise of "A Dealer" to the tune of $875 dollars!! Don't get me wrong I know a Dealer is going to cost a little more than some other places but this is clearing "Gouging Customers".

Dealer response

Jeff, I wanted to take a moment to respond to your review. I visited with you on the phone about your service visit. At that time I relayed to you that Mr. Reither, your service advisor, made recommendations to you regarding the service and upkeep of your vehicle. The key word is recommendations ie, tires, shocks, cabin air filter, etc. During the inspection of your vehicle the items that Zach pointed out and recommended to you were parts and services that your vehicle needed. Again this is a recommendation, you are always going to have the option of getting it done somewhere else, doing it yourself, having us do it or not doing any of the services recommended, your decision. What you get at our dealership are professionally certified mechanics, authentic Hyundai parts, a service shop that meets all local, state and national EPA standards and guidelines. If there is a problem with the service we, as you would expect, stand behind our work. I think you will find that our rates are in line with other dealerships in the area. You are going to be able to purchase aftermarket parts that are cheaper and if you do the labor on any service obviously you can reduce the cost to service your vehicle. We have found that our customers have come to rely on and appreciate our complimentary inspections. Again we make recommendations based on the vehicle's mileage and condition. We leave it up to the customer to decide what they want to have done. If you have further questions or comments, feel free to call me at 479-695-5807. Regards, Rick McGaugh Customer Relations Manager Crain Hyundai of Fayetteville

Don’t waste your money here

Do not waste your time or money with this dealership. We purchased a 2015 Sonata brand new. While doing the paperwork with the finance manager he sold us the platinum extended warranty. I asked what it covered. He looked me right in the eye and said ‘anything inside and out, bumper to bumper, top to bottom’ and even went so far as to give us examples including sensors, electronics, air bags and screens. We agreed and purchased. Fast forward to 2020. Our car is now part of a class action lawsuit and likely needs an engine swap. Further more the air bag light keeps coming on and off. First time we took it to Bentonville they couldn’t find a problem and reset it. Came back on the very same day. Just had it back in there for a few problems and the air bag is one of them. They finally told us that it’s a sensor BUT because it’s in the seat and the warranty doesn’t cover the seats they won’t fix it. So a car that already has lawsuits for bad motors and they also won’t fix a SAFETY ISSUE with an air bag. That’s like saying “we know you purchased this brand new flooring and there is a problem with a section but we have to come through your door to get to it and your door isn’t covered.” By the way, we now have to bring it back in to them every 1,000 miles for a total of 5,000 miles because it likely needs a new engine but they have to check the oil consumption at those intervals first. Meanwhile I’m driving around in a vehicle with an air bag issue that they refuse to fix under the highest level extended warranty you can buy because it’s in the seat and the warranty doesn’t cover the cloth. Won’t ever spend another dime at any of their lots and will make sure everyone I know hears about this. I have called and left two voicemails at the Fayetteville location to talk to someone about the warranty they sold me and have yet to get a return call. If I have to get legal representation I will because a safety issue on a car from a company that claims to make some of the “safest cars on the road” and sells me a warranty that won’t fix said safety issue is a joke.

Online question response

Listed car I was interested in as MSRP over $36k but offered for $32.6k. I emailed why are you showing an MSRP on a Sonata Limited when its actual MSRP is only $33.3k, thinking maybe there's some add-ons in addition to destination charge. Their response is they will "sale" it to me for their cost at $35.5k. I will withhold my thoughts about what type of dealership operates like this. You can be the judge. Unfortunately I've found most dealerships to pull this crap but the Honda dealership in my hometown is pretty straight and will get my business, and I will get my Accord Touring hybrid.

Very disappointed!

Very disappointed! The car fax on our 2018 car showed no wrecks or repairs at all. But we noticed on a sunny day that there were bubbles in the paint, some runs and it even peeled off easily in one spot. I am so worried what the rest of the paint will do! We paid way to much money for this to happen! So sad and disappointed. :(

After you walk off the lot

Everything from getting the title (3 months) to getting GAP cancelled and refunded (11 weeks and counting) has been like pulling teeth. They said they had to fax in a form to cancel GAP. Fidelity says they didn't need to fax in anything. I didn't expect to still be dealing with Crain 6 months after purchasing the car.
