Bought a '22 MDX from this dealer in Aug, '21.
Bought a '22 MDX from this dealer in Aug, '21. I chose this dealer because they were the only one, at this time, given the shortage of vehicles, that had the MDX with the tech/adv packages we wanted, in our second color choice and they were only charging $2500 over MSRP (other dealerships were charging $4,000+ over MSRP) The dealership was clean, it was easy to get to, it was cool inside until they closed and turned off the air. I was still in the finance department after closing which the sun beats down on at the end of the day. The staff was friendly. They had air hockey which my wife and teenager kids loved. 4.5 stars, taking off .5 for turning off the air while customers were still there. 5 stars - it appears they use one of each model for test drives so that they could sell you another vehicle that had no test drives on it (ours had like 1.5 miles). I liked that. I don't want a car that's been test driven all over. 5 stars to the staff - all nice, friendly, and accommodating (up to a certain point) 5 stars to the finance department. The guy was nice. They met my comp pricing on add-ons that I wanted. I will complain about car pricing separately. Now, the not so good. 3 stars. They had one finance guy working, so at the end of the day, I was waiting a long time to buy my vehicle, so being there past closing was not my fault. 2 stars - The dealership had two mandatory add-ons - a brake light configuration/part change that flashes your brake lights briefly when you apply them. It's a good safety item in my opinion. Also, they pre-applied Permaplate on every vehicle, forcing you to pay for it. I would prefer to choose for myself rather than have them forced on me so that I could try to negotiate the price or go elsewhere. Not only were they selling over MSRP, but they were forcing items on you and charging a higher premium, getting more profit off of you. I don't like that. 3 stars - While there was a shortage of cars, so not their fault, like every other dealership, they jumped on the band wagon to grab a little extra cash, cashing in on supply and demand at the cost to the consumer. This is the cornerstone of all American business' today (in my opinion) and well within their rights, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I asked for $500 off the price, it was refused. Basically, they would not budge on anything and I wasn't bringing in a trade-in and I was using Acura (American Honda) financing, so more benefits to the dealership and none to me. 3 stars - I was outside, shooting the breeze with our sales guy after our purchase - nice man - when I happened to notice that the weather stripping around the large moon/sunroof was coming out. I guess whoever was getting the vehicle ready for purchase, or when they were applying the Permaplate before purchase, didn't notice or bother to say anything about that very visible issue. This meant I already had to bring the car back for it's first fix and I hadn't even driven my car off the lot yet. They did give me an MDX loaner car for the warranty work. I did not hate my experience here, I just didn't like the sour taste left behind from some of the less than optimal treatment given the dealership's policies and sales tactics. I originally planned to give them a 3 star review, but if you take the average of what I did score, it's closer to 4.

Bought a '22 MDX from this dealer in Aug, '21. Quick, friendly service at a reasonable price
Took the vehicle in for periodic service for the oil change, tire rotation, and differential fluid change based on the maintenance minder. Prices were competitive for a dealership. My service advisor with whom I trusted for the past 5 years is no longer working there. My secondary choice is Gary but I was assisted by a new advisor and possibly new service manager, Jordan. He was friendly, informative, and attentive to my needs. He followed up with me concerning the findings of the technician through the multi-point inspection and provided me with options to address the mechanical issues without pressure. Overall, the service was great from the initial meeting the advisor through the time spent paying the cashier. The estimated time to complete the work was relatively quick and on point. I received a detailed car wash and courtesy vacuuming, which was a nice bonus. I was happy with my most recent visit.

Poor vehicle condition/safety checks
Normally this dealership does a great job but this last experience was very poor. They were supposed to have checked all fluid Levels and the sheet received says they did. They also checked off on the check sheet the brake fluid was “green”. When I checked under the hood later that day (checking fluid levels as I had both an oil change and a transmission oil change) I saw the brake fluid level was about 1 inch below the full line. It was 1/2 way down inside the fluid reservoir) Rather than go back into Oakland from Walnut Creek I purchased the correct Dot 3/4 fluid and corrected the error. Note two, the system had its brake fluid changed by this dealer the time before (6 months) Very disappointed not to mention dangerous if the Blake fluid got too low although I believe it’s a “dual” system so you woul always have 1/2 of your brake cylinders operating. In this same visit the time interval for service was not reset. I suspect one of the less mechanics doing the simpler operations (although some are key) is not doing a thorough job.
