Aloha Richard, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your past experience. After carefully reviewing our records, we’ve found that multiple members of our management team have been in contact with you previously regarding this issue. Since purchasing your extended warranty package, you have redeemed the benefits of this package at least once. And, since the package has been used, it cannot be undone or returned. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to reach out to our Finance Director, Steve Alaimo, at (808)680-7301. Mahalo, Tony Honda

Give Salesman a Bad Name

I purchased a vehicle from Tony Honda in 2020 and was very pleased with my experience and I still have the vehicle today. We recently moved off island, and prior to leaving decided to sell one another vehicle. We were on a short timeline to get everything done, so we decided to sell our vehicle to a dealer for speed and ease. My selling experience was the complete opposite of my buying experience. I initially started the conversation with someone else, and then was handed off to Darin. Darin was cordial and professional. During the "negotiation" process he did as many salesmen have and said things like "I'll be straightforward" and "I don't want to waste anyone's time" and we discussed the value of the vehicle. I was not happy with the initial offer to purchase my vehicle and ultimately was able to increase that number by a couple thousand dollars. What is the most frustrating is that during our conversation I was told things like the vehicle isn't very popular on the island and would be difficult to sell, it could possibly sit on the lot for over 100 days, and we would likely only sell it for $26-$28,000. A couple of weeks after we left the island and completed the transaction, I was curious, so I pulled up the website and was stunned to see the vehicle listed for $35K. These types of interactions are what give car salesmen a bad name and make trusting salespeople in general very difficult for many.

Extremely impersonal phone system. Then, when a service advisor answers its like pulling teeth. I asked a question and the reply was "so what about it"? Uh duh, that is why I called you.

Great car, terrible service

Extremely satisfied with the 2020 Honda Civic we purchased. The vehicle itself runs like we expected and are hoping to have it for many, many years. The customer service however was awful. As a first time car buyer I couldn't believe it took us over 4 hours to get this deal done and it was due to pushy sales and possible incompetence. Maybe that's normally how it goes but we had great credit, had a car already picked out that we wanted, and a gameplan on how we wanted to pay for it. We had done our research prior to arrival and we came in with a mindset that the 2020 CR-V was what we wanted. However we were pressured to test drive a different CR-V model because the manager was really "pushing" its sale. After going through the motions and humoring them and taking that car on a test-drive (we really took it just to have time to ourselves), we were waiting in our salespersons cubicle, we overheard other salesmen complaining about how slow business was and other negative comments to his co-worker. Considering we're in the middle of a pandemic and people are supposed to avoid crowds, why would you be surprised? (Also, many employees were walking around with masks down and speaking to each other without masks - not a huge deal but not a surprise that they aren't taking things too seriously over there). While going through the finance options it felt we were being pushed along in the process and when things were explained to us, they seemed to really graze over details we wanted. As first-time buyers and considering how long we waited that day, we weren't vigilant to ask them to slow down and go over the fine details. This proved costly, as it turned out, our finance guy didn't charge us for something that we now have to pay a month after the service, which makes me feel that we're being charged twice! Looking back, if it wasn't for our intention to buy that day, we really should've just walked away. I never felt comfortable working with them and honestly it's been such a stressor since then. I want to express that the car itself works wonderfully, but the whole sales experience makes me want to puke and never go to Tony Honda again...except I paid a service contract which means I have to go to them for oil changes and what not or I lose out on more money! I don't blame Maria too much as she's got her marching orders and she did her best to apologize but at the end of the day we felt too much like another sale and that we were being taken advantage of. If you read this far, thank you for reading this and forgive me for my frustration caused poor grammar. To summarize: I will never recommend Tony Honda to anyone else, I sincerely hope they clean up their act (because there were some good people I did interact with there), if you're a first-time buyer walk away if you're not comfortable, and Honda vehicles are still a great choice - just don't buy them here.

Great Service

Jayce and his whole crew (checking in) are very accommodating, courteous and very professional! I had to wait for my car to be serviced but it’s all worth it. The quality of the service never failed me. And SMS Text update is also nice. The waiting area is comfortable and I noticed that workers check the coffee area/snacks at least every 5-10 minutes. What a great service!!! Reasonable and affordable service/maintenance fee.

Andrew in Service Dept very unprofessional!

Andrew in the service Dept was very unprofessional on the phone! He quoted my son $1500 to repair the starter and replace the positive battery cable on his 2005 Honda Accord 6 cyl XE. I told him NOT to do the work as I can get it done much cheaper elsewhere as a remanufactured starter only costs $80-130 and a cable at $120. He said a starter (prob new, but I don't need a new one in a '05 car) costs $800. What? Are you kidding me? He yelled at me on the phone saying the job was already done despite his voicemail to me saying the job wouldn't start until the next day. I told him that I would file a complaint with his boss and he hung up. He called me back saying that the job was cancelled and he told his mechanic not to start the job, meaning that he lied when he said the job was done. I said my son will come get his car tomorrow. He said he will still need to charge $150 for the diagnostic. That we can swallow. Be careful of how you are treated at any dealer. Do your homework before you approve any work if not still under warranty. I'm so disappointed with the unprofessional attitude displayed by Andrew. His manager will receive a written complaint from me. Be aware.
