Unreal…

Should have read the reviews. This place is as terrible as everyone in these reviews says. Go to Tonkin. Or anywhere but here. Just don’t do it, and if you have to, have an outside inspection done. Do not trust these people!

Why have a warranty if they are not going to fix i

We are so frustrated with this place! We have made several trips to have our VW Jetta fixed under warranty and each time is either not fixed or some new issue. They said it was fixed this last time and We left on a trip have half way on the trip we were lucky to make it. We still have to go back and are very nervous to drive home.We are starting to wonder if they are trying to ride out the warranty.

My experience overall was okay.

My experience overall was okay. Staff was kind and friendly. However, I was required to drive from Long Beach, CA asap in order to ‘reserve’ the vehicle for purchase. Required me to hurry up and get on the road for a very long trip. They didn’t allow a deposit to secure vehicle. I am a disabled person and I don’t like to feel rushed. Especially for a long trip. I also walked in with my own financing through my credit inion at 3.29% , then they told me that their cu offered 2.9% or something like that and just very confusing items and I was extremely exhausted and had not eaten anything. They kindly gave me a sandwich. I also told them that I didn’t want their warranty and I would get my own. But it seetms like they addrd it anyways- still confused about that. And why my requests weren’t honored. I will be calling them back to request removal of warranty if I am being charged for it. They said they offered a 6000 mile full coverage warranty- no chatrge- that’s all I wanted so I don’t know what happened. I am still extremely exhausted from the very long trip. I am hoping that they can clarify a few things for me and make some changes according to what I want. Not what they think I should have. I had told them that I won’t take anything unless financing can beat my cu offer of 3.29%. Well it turned out that apr somehow got to 3.99% through their credit Union and they kept telling me that I can always refinance. Again I liked the people at dealership but I didn’t like that they didn’t honor my requests about financing and they weren’t clear about the warranty and it was already a long day and I just wanted to be done with the process and leace

We had a bad experience working with a salesperson named

We had a bad experience working with a salesperson named Samy. He promised multiple times to have our vehicle ready on the day we had planned to pick it up, which entailed taking PTO, taking the train two hours to the dealership, and getting child care for our kids. Not only was the vehicle not ready as promised, when he told us the vehicle WAS ready, a week later, we arrived only to find that basic work, e.g. detailing the car, getting paperwork together, hadn't been done. After purchasing the car, we had questions about the service plan and all he was willing to do was share a screen shot of the paperwork. Super UNhelpful and not trustworthy - we would not purchase another car from this dealership based on this interaction.

added cost without owner approval

the sales department personal, which i met two on two different days were not friendly at all due to the supply and demand right now, these two guys said the whole time if you don't buy it all well someone else will, i asked about the additional $500 added onto the car price. it was the spray coat that the dealership automatic put on without new owners agreement. the sales person said we put it on you pay $500 no choice. this spray wears off in a year and is worthless to say the least, another tactic to squeeze money from the buyer. once again they know you are looking at their cars and other dealerships do not have the car forcing you to either wait for a month or two to see if maybe another place will get that same car or angerly and bitterly give up another $500 because your daughter has her eyes set on this car. what a waste of $500 bucks!!! the door trim still had white plastic wrap on them, car did not get vacuumed out and finger prints were all over the car inner door panels and control switches. i tried to inform the sales man another worker to the man printing off the sales contract all fell to deaf ears. the person that was printing off the contracts told me i was being hostile towards him because of my concerns, at this point I knew i should of never stopped here. we traveled over 3 hours just to get here and got treated like second class citizens. VW cars are awesome we have purchased 3 upgraded to 2 so i bought 5 total, just wish this dealership was straight forward sand not adding items to the car without the future car owners approval.

Bad customer service

Took car in for 80,000 mile service and to check engine light. Very rude customer service from lady filling in for Ph8l. Picked up car. Engine coolant was empty car gauges were not reset. Had dead battery cable was not connected all the way. Would not recommend them

Just rude and awful experience.

My sister and I walked in looked around a few minutes and set down waiting for help and for 10 minutes nobody came to talk to us, not even we will be with you in a minute nothing. As we walked out a guy who worked behind the desk just looked at us not saying a word. Just awful experience and will never go back.

Excellent Sales team and F&I staff

I drove 400 miles to Armstrong VW because they have a big selection of VW Passat TDIs in stock. I worked with Anthony and then Bill. Both showed me every car they had in stock, then patiently let me run the deliberations through my head until I chose one. Daniel in F&I did his job in trying to sell me additional products and services but was cool when I declined all of them. This is the best large city dealer I have ever worked with. Thanks to Anthony, Bill, and Daniel for a great experience.

I wish there were a lemon law for used cars in Oregon

Please, buyer beware. We live on the Oregon Coast and made the 3 hour trip to Portland to purchase a car for my son. We had several vehicles in line to view but in the end made a purchase from Armstrong as we trusted buying from a dealer vs. a private seller. This was a huge mistake. We purchased a 2009 Audi A4. By the time we made the trip back home (3 hours one way), both the front and passenger seat back panels had somehow come loose and were lying against the base of the back seat. This was our first discovery. Long story short, we are less than 3 months since the purchase and now the car will not start. I reached out to the dealer and per the service manager they were aware of some of the defects we noted and he has no idea why they were not fixed as he says "we don't let cars go out unless these things are fixed". Still waiting to hear back from him as to what they can or will do to remedy this situation. I have sent pictures of all of the defects (as requested by the service manager) but so far have had no response to those. Please do your research and do not trust that just because it is a big dealership that they will be honest. I will tell everyone I know not to do business with this company. They need to make this right but so far, no luck. After reading all the terrible reviews I'm not expected much of a resolution unfortunately.

I wish there were a lemon law for used cars in OR

Trying to warn anyone looking to purchase a vehicle in the near future...this is my review for Armstrong VW in Portland. We paid cash a little over 2 months ago for a 2009 Audi A4--buyer beware.
