Pretty bad experience.
Pretty bad experience. Took my VW GTI in to fix rodent damage. Was initially quoted $3300 for the repairs. Even after those repairs, the car still had more wiring harness damage which they should have figured out in the first place. But, now they abandoned the vehicle and are not interested in working on it anymore after charging $3000. They take extremely long time (3-4 months) to submit simple estimates and supplements to insurance company. Finally after submitting the supplement, they immediately started charging me storage fee of $35 per day. Couldn’t even wait for the insurance adjuster to check out the car and charged me a total of $350 storage fee. The vehicle stayed with them for more than a year. If they were more efficient, all of this could have been done in less than a month. I should have just taken it to a reputable local mechanic. The local shop that initially diagnosed the vehicle found the wiring harness issue immediately which the dealership could not until after the initial repairs costing $3000.

They promised to pay my service debt (for my older car
They promised to pay my service debt (for my older car which they failed to repair) when I bought a new car. After so many visits and calls asking them to send me the check, I finally got the check 5 months later from Jareyd. As a result of this delay, my credit history and score suffered badly for the delinquency and my credit limits were reduced severly There is nothing I can do about it now, except try to rebuild it slowly.

This dealers service dept is excellent!
This dealers service dept is excellent! It is led by the ever affable Nigel Stewart. He is so helpful and courteous. His staff are sweet and so nice as well. I NEVER mind having to go in to get my VWs serviced. An honest, no game playing service for our VWs. What more could one ask for?!

Our customer relationships are our foremost concern, and we're glad to hear that's clear in every visit. Thank you for the stellar rating and for your loyalty - the entire DARCARS VW of Silver Spring team appreciates it!
Darcars charged me more than $2,000 in repairs, only to
Darcars charged me more than $2,000 in repairs, only to hand me a broken car back. I had to go to another VW dealer who confirmed that the prior repair was botched and had to be redone. (Darcars also tried to have me replace parts that didn’t need it to buy themselves more time to fix what they’d broken.) I’ve raised this issue with Darcars repeatedly in private and received no reply. The only acceptable reply now would be “we will refund your money for the parts we broke.” If that’s not part of the reply below, take your business elsewhere.

After being a loyal customer for 10 years, they tried to
After being a loyal customer for 10 years, they tried to charge me 40% more than the price listed on their own website for a part I needed replaced. The part not including labor was listed at about $2300 on their parts website (which is already $600 more than the recommended Kelley Blue Book price that did include the labor cost) but they told me in person the price was $3200 before an additional $1450 for labor. When I asked about the discrepancy I wasn’t given a straight answer and was simply told it’s their right to up charge for parts and labor. Ended up taking my car somewhere else. Do not get your car fixed here!

Hi Laura! As our team tried to explain, there is a difference between list prices (paid online and shipped to you) and retail prices (purchased over the counter / include a 1 year warranty when repairs are completed in our service department). We sincerely apologize if there was any miscommunication here and hope to earn your business back in the future.
A Great GM makes the difference
I never write online reviews, but I can't say enough good things about DarCar's GM Diako Akunzadeh. He patiently compared every aspect of buy vs lease, and helped me get the best deal. I'm about to pick up my 6th VW--Diako's the reason I keep coming back.

False Advertising. 3x’s Fees of other dealers
I just left the Darcars in Silver Spring, MD after having the worst car buying experience I have ever had in my life. I understand a $500 processing fee and okay even another $350 for whatever else. However, an added $2,200 for some assurance plan that is being sold to allegedly protect the resale value on an almost 8 year old 80k plus miles car that will honestly not be worth much after 5 year loan. Even better, you have no choice or they won’t sell you the car. Then the guy says well I guess I can knock $1000.00 off of the assurance plan. What!!! You’re still charging me an extra $1200.00 for a car that im willing to pay $16,000 after taxes, tags, and normal dealer processing fees. By the way, the car is 7 years old has over 80,000 miles and was less than $20,000 brand new. That is false advertising; fraud; whatever you want to call it. Further, the amount added to the price of the car at the end of the sale is way beyond any industry custom I have ever heard of, which seems to result in false advertising and allow for an estoppel claim in MD. I bought my first new car from Darcars but apparently now fraud, misrepresentation, bait and switch, and false advertising is embedded into their business model. This is a joke. We bailed car manufacturers out in 2008 paying for their failed business model and now they are refusing to increase supply because they are totally fine with us all paying mortgages for cars. If car companies won’t hire people at decent wages and refuse to increase production, the industries should be nationalized, I mean we basically already bought the companies with our tax money.

Beware
BUYER AWARE the OPTIONAL darcars assurance will be forced on you. We just drove over an hour with full intent of buying a vehicle, got there loved the vehicle and was 100% ready to take it home. Sales manager was weird that we wanted to test drive it, he explained because young people come in and test drive and don’t buy, okay I get it, we are not kids, we are adults trying to buy a vehicle, even then I was okay with going forward as long as we test drove it before everything was final so I can make sure it’s all good. We do the application, our salesman was amazing, then it came time to run everything and he shows us the paper, I ask if the assurance is optional he said YES but he recommends it etc ect. I said no I don’t want it because we don’t live in the area and will be relocating out of state within a year so it’s not beneficial to us at all. He tells the sales manager and he REFUSED to take it off. we go back and forth, they discounted it down trying to force into it, we hear the sales manager on the last time our salesman went over say “this is the last time, if they don’t want it then see you later” at that moment we were absolutely appalled. Our salesman got weird and quite and told us he agrees with us and understood we didn’t want it. I said over and over I can’t believe we are being forced to buy something OPTIONAL that will NOT benefit us at all. We ended up walking out because he wouldn’t take it off. We felt as though since it was late we were inconveniencing everyone even though I messaged them what time we would get there. Bad experience. Completely disappointing. Will never recommend.
