I was a Chevy guy for life but no more.
I was a Chevy guy for life but no more. I don't know how Chevrolet can even allow this management to exist. As a seasoned fireman and the owner of a plumbing company, I’m extremely aware of how to treat customers - even when you are delivering news they don’t want to hear. But the manager at Chevrolet of Palatine is the worst type of representative for a company. Went in to have my truck serviced. I have always had all service done by the dealer because I honestly thought it would be better. I had an issue a few months back with the cable, they repaired it, and it looked like the problem is happening again. Took it back in and was told that I had a squirrel or rodents chewing on the wires. (Turns out, it was actually that the cable was rubbing and even after they switched it last time it was continuing to rub and therefore fray. Found this out when I took it to someone else for the actual repair.) When I was told it would be $$$$ for the repair I said no - put it back together and I’ll take a look at it myself - and they told me to come over in 30 minutes. Went over to pick it up, it took 20 minutes to release the vehicle, and was then told it would be another hour or so as they didn’t have it back together yet. Back home, then back to get it. To be faced with a $400 bill for them to do absolutely nothing - and to give an inaccurate diagnosis. That’s when the “manager” got involved. There was no customer service manner, no explanation of why the bill was high - instead he told the service guy to “charge him the maximum for making me walk away from the sales floor”. And, of course, they would not release my truck. So I called the police to intervene. As soon as the cop arrived the manager was running across the parking lot to control the conversation. Buyer beware - the release you sign to let them look at your car also allows this rather hefty non-disclosed diagnostic fee - even when their diagnosis is incorrect and they’ve incompletely “fixed” the issue a few months prior. I paid, while the manager smirked in the background and continued to make comments about how he’d won the conversation. But he lost the war. I usually buy a new truck for my business every few years or so. I will NEVER return to this dealership for purchase or service … and I am not sure that I will EVER buy a Chevy again if this is how Chevrolet believes in interacting with customers.

Their service is prompt and informative.
Their service is prompt and informative. However their service marketing isn’t set up for electric vehicles-they keep telling me it’s time for an oil change! Even the work order listed that when I just wanted tire rotation.

Shady dealings, hidden costs, failure to stand by
Shady dealings, hidden costs, failure to stand by defective product, more expensive repair costs than others, and poor communication.

Based on my most recent customer experience, I am rating
Based on my most recent customer experience, I am rating Chevrolet of Palatine “5 Stars.” The main reason is the exceptional level of service and attention I received from my Service Rep. (Efrain). He provided a 100% better customer experience than previous Service Reps. did. Keep up the good work.
