Former longtime customer of this dealership. It has since changed hands . New people. All the good people are gone. If you dont like PRESSURE, go elsewhere.... They call it keeping the customer informed! Lol
We have purchased a Toyota Avalon from this dealership 2 years ago. To sell us the car, the dealer used false advertising claiming the car had air-conditioned... seats while we found later were just ventilated (which is useless in summer). Recently, we were stopped by the NJ state police because of the dealer-installed tinted front windows that turned to be illegal in NJ.The police officer also complaint about the dealer license plate holder that was covering part of the letters. The police officer gave us a ticket for these problems that were caused by Toyota of Lakewood dealership. I submitted a Better Business Bureau complaint and was surprised to see that Toyota of Lakewood never bothered to open a BBB file, and yet there were multiple complaints which gave this business a D- rating. Needless to say, my complaint was unanswered by the dealer and was closed after 2 weeks without response. I hope at least that their rating went down from D- to F which they really deserve. I would never buy from this dealership again. Just go to any other Toyota dealership in NJ that all have ratings of A and A . Which I checked their rating on BBB before I bought the car!

Brought in car for service. Was told trans line was broken and would cost 480. I said ok Went to pickup car and cost was 840. When I questioned this cost... went down to 596. Asked why I was quoted 480 and was told something else was done without my permission. If I didn’t question the cost they would have literally robbed me. Will never go back and I’m reporting this to toyota corporate. How did the cost vary so much
As a return customer to the Toyota brand and Toyota World of Lakewood, I turned in a lease on Memorial Day weekend in 2018. The dealership never "grounded"... my returned lease (never submitted the proper paperwork for me returning the truck). I was charged an extension of lease and an overage of miles due to this oversight on their part. Additionally, they never submitted the proper paperwork for me being a returning customer and charged me a deposition fee as well. I received my first bill pertaining to this issue on June 7, 2018 and contacted Toyota Financial directly. They informed me that the paperwork would need to be submitted properly from the dealership. I worked with manager Jean Elam to get this resolved, which she provided assurances that it was. On November 23, 2018, the "resolved issue" was put into collections. Since then, it has been a nightmare of wasted time, false assurances and deceptive customer service. After repeated attempts for me to contact the manager, she now rushes me off the phone, doesn't return messages and infrequently responds to emails. When she does respond it is with empty assurances that the issue will be resolved by such-and-such a date, "no matter the outcome to Toyota." Even with proper documentation on my lease, proof of return date and odometer statements, the collections agency cannot clear the account until Toyota of Lakewood and Toyota Financial submit the proper paperwork. Toyota of Lakewood never filed the proper paperwork from the beginning and now will not stand behind their customer to rectify the issue. 9 months later, I am still dealing with this. This dealership failed to submit the proper paperwork from the beginning. When I discovered the issue, they failed to update their paperwork until 6 months later. The manager has failed to correct this issue and only kicks the can down the road or flat out refuses to follow up with me. I sincerely wouldn't wish this on anyone else unless you have a high tolerance for BS and hours of your own time to waste and credit score you wish to ruin based on principle.

Our salesman, Carter Nies, was patient, friendly and knowledgeable. He was also easy to negotiate with, and we ultimately settled on a much lower price... than I was able to find at a competing Toyota dealership in nearby Toms River

Although my vehicle is a 2013 Nissan Murano, I continue to have my vehicle serviced @ Lakewood Toyota due to the professional, very competent, and friendly... services of coordinator Angel. He has my trust that he is looking out for my safety in driving my car.
