Do not trust this dealership

My son, a hard working student and enlisted army E-4, purchased a 2017 Honda Accord back in March 2022. He has since had to have his car towed to a local Honda dealership in attempt to repair or correct an engine issue 4 times, and tonight is being towed for the 5th time; it is May 2022. We have tried to work with the dealership on these issues, only to be told it was not their problem. We have since learned the car was in an accident and declared a total loss in New Jersey, sold at Salvage, the dealership applied for a rebuilt title and never disclosed the “TOTAL LOSS” at time of purchase. JAG is now involved. Do not trust this dealership!

SALVAGE !!

Bought a car, eventually I got a recall notice from manufacturer. Went to the dealer for repair- since car was considered rebuilt- the Car company will not repair a manufacturer defect!!! 2 days after purchase... every dash light flickers on and off. Airbag light is constantly on. Driving the car from Gulf beach auto is stressful and i can't sell it or anything to trade in for a warranty and peice of mind. Don't buy a car from this dealership.

Would not recommend to anyone! Be careful

Poor experience. Dealer raised the price $1300+ just before signing, said it was tax + title transfer + $450 fees (never mentioned before, even though I said my absolute cap was $8000). This price increase was accompanied by a reveal that the car is rebuilt and was totally smashed up. The price increase put the car’s cost alongside other dealers who didn’t sell rebuilt cars. It was very unexpected to find out the price increase and the fact that it was rebuilt. The dealer repeatedly wouldn’t get the Carfax for us, I had to ask him 3 times and finally when he said he would get it, he only showed us pictures of the crash (not in a Carfax report, just the pictures). At that time I started to get nervous that Gulf Coast Auto was a sketchy and unethical dealership. I asked if we could drop $200 off the fee because it was unexpected but he laughed and said he wouldn’t budge. I’ve never been to a dealer that wouldn’t negotiate, even with a $1300 random increase and an unexpected crash. When I realized he wasn’t even willing to move $50 on the cost of the car off of the fee, I realized that it must not have been an ethical establishment. There’s no way a genuine car dealer would refuse to drop $50 to stop a sale. If he would’ve said “I understand your shock, I thought you knew all the cars on the lot have been in accidents. Also, I did not tell you about the dealer fee. Why don’t we knock $50 off?” I would’ve felt more comfortable and without question would’ve bought the car with cash. He didn’t even want to talk and tried a bunch of sketchy sleazy sales techniques like asking my wife if I could afford the car when I was seeing if there was some way it could be reduced because that wasn’t what we could afford or expect. I came in expecting the best experience but left realizing that if someone won’t budge $50, there’s something bigger going on. Would not recommend, it seems like they care less about customer satisfaction and more about making an extra $50.

Sold us a previously totaled car, very decieving

Thought we were getting a great deal on a vehicle with low miles and good safety features/resale value, but the vehicle had previously been totaled and was worth 25% of what we paid, not to mention structural damage which threw its safety ratings out the window. We asked if it had any accidents and the salesman didnt know, it wasnt until we were deep into negotiations that the accident was mentioned, and they played it off calling it a small fender bender. Every vehicle that this place sells is rebuilt or salvage title vehicles. They get them for cheap and do the repairs themselves to get max profit. The sale of our vehicle should not have been approved by any bank, but USAA is one of the few banks that allow ( or just dont check) the sale of salvage title vehicles. The dealer themselves coerced us into USAA because of this. We could have done more research to prevent this, but at this point I don't want anyone else to get jipped by these guys! It seems like a good deal at first but the vehicle may not be in as good of condition as the carfax says!

Dealer response

Dear Henry, We wanted to thank you for sharing your opinion! If you were indeed a customer of ours, then you have a full right to return the vehicle for a full refund because it is illegal to sell vehicles with a salvage title. If your vehicle has a rebuilt title, then it allows you to legally operate it on public roads after the vehicle have been rebuilt to a safe, operable standards AND it's passed an inspection with the Florida Department of Motor Vehicle. It also means that you probably paid at least 25% less of its retail cost which saved you few thousands at the moment of purchase and it also saved you on interest due to a lower financed amount. In the long run, you should lose less when you decide to sell it, because of fast depreciation of used vehicle prices, regardless of its title. We truly believe that buying a vehicle with a rebuilt title is the best way to save on a used vehicle purchase. However, we understand it is everyone's personal preference and we would like to find a possible solution. We encourage all of our customers to sell their vehicles back to us whenever they ready to upgrade, and we can promise you, you won't be disappointed either. Please call us 850-696-2894 at your earliest convenience and ask to speak to a manager!
