Zero stars if I could.

Zero stars if I could. We came in with a pre-approved bank loan for a used vehicle, and had a trade in. The loan we were pre-approved for was like walking in with cash. The trade-in regardless of the condition of the vehicle was already consolidated and financed with our bank, Navy Federal, and we were ready to make a purchase on our chosen car. Azim was the one helping us, and despite us having a check that was enough for the vehicle they pulled every card they could. They had us going between Carmax and the Bank, had talked to our bank and agreed to continue with the transaction, and after sitting there for 3 hours we were told by their financing office that we were actually not approved for the amount listed on the check but for less because of an imaginary "negative equity" that was already allocated for! They tried to confuse us to try and force us to finance with them and double dip, refused our check, and tried to coerce us to try to apply and finance with them directly because they get more money from you that way! Lost customer - we will never shop with you. We will never recommend you. And if they ever ask you to take a picture of a check don't do it. I really hoped for better considering Carmax's glowing reviews and recommendations!

Huge waste of my time, awful communication

I am looking for a rather rare car and saw that there was one at the Austin location that could be shipped to Katy. So I initiated the process on the seventh of the month and at that time was informed the car would arrive on the 13th. I got A Text on the morning of the ninth saying it was on the move and another text that afternoon saying it was ready to test drive and to respond to that text so that they could set the appointment with me. I responded within an hour, but never heard anything back all weekend. On Monday morning I got a text from a different number asking me to respond so that they could set up an appointment and reminding me that the car would only be held for three days total. I responded within half an hour that I was ready to set up an appointment and never heard anything back. That afternoon I called the local phone number and the automated system told me that my transfer was in progress in the car was still in quality check and not ready to drive. So I pushed zero for operator and got a nice lady in the call center who told me that the car was indeed ready and set up an appointment for me the next day at 8 pm. It took about 40 minutes once I got to their lot to set up a 24 hour test drive and the sales guy told me to be sure and bring the car back full or they would charge me for gas. Then he went to actually get the car and when he came back told me well actually it’s only got 3/4 of a tank of gas And the hybrid battery is totally dead (soon much for quality checks) but don’t worry the charging cables are there. You can charge this plug-in hybrid and just bring us the receipt and we will reimburse you. So I take the car home. And then find out it has trash and fire in it and there are no cables too charge it. So I can’t evaluate that aspect of it at all. I take the car back the next morning and say I’m not interested in it Since I cannot evaluate it and I don’t know how long the plug-in hybrid battery has been dead which is not good for it. The same sales guy makes me spend another twenty minutes there while asks about what I am looking for and tells me he will call me back by Friday morning with other options. Of course I did not hear from him but I got an alert saying that the Austin lot had another of this same model so I called him that afternoon. He didn’t answer and I didn’t leave a voicemail, but he called back within an hour and didn’t seem to know who I was or care. I told him there was another one that I was interested in and he asked me to text him the stock number so he could look into it. I told him I’m not in front of my computer anymore as I’m thinking why do I have to do your job for you? Needless to say that I have not heard back from him. These people clearly don’t want to sell cars. Maybe if they were commission based they would be a little more proactive. They charge a premium for their cars but the service is definitely lacking.

Friendly, professional, and fast.

Friendly, professional, and fast. Sales person was very attentive and patient. I completed the entire transaction of trade in, finance and purchase in a couple of hours.

Twice was nice!

I've purchased two vehicles from this dealership and have had awesome experiences both times. No pressure, no tactics, no "let me check with my manager", just friendly, honest, efficient service. I WILL be back!

Prievously Owned SUV purchase

This is my third car purchase from CAR MAX . A later model for the wife . A jeep Cherokee and is a 2019 with low mileage . She is happy and that makes US happy . The purchase was not hurried and no back and forth between Mr Smith and I . Really straightforward . Satisfied completely .
