I was in a frenzy back a few months ago.. my suv was dying and I needed to replace it. I lived on the internet checking out everyplace I could for a newer used SUV Made the mistake of going to a dealer only to get the brush off. So I went to Bristol Auto Center as I had found an SUV that I was interested in but hadn't seen many around. So I just went to look.. Mark was great.. no pressure, no hype just straight forward information. I ended up loving the condition and the feel of the vehicle I test drove. And made a decision right then to buy the SUV. Mark asked when I wanted to pick it up and I told him as soon as I could. He said how about today, and I was flabbergasted. He handled everything within the time it took me to go home and clean out my old vehicle and find the title to it because Mark even offered to check around the junk yards to see what I could get for it. Thats how bad of shape my other vehicle was in. He even called the back to verify I could get the money order in the full amount.. to pay cash for my new SUV. He went above and beyond the service you would expect from a small used car dealer. I contacted him a week or so later to see if he had any luck getting anything for my dying junk of a car and was suprised that he did get more then I would have if I had tried on my own.. When I went up to pick up my check I mentioned an issue I had with the car starting. thought it just needed a new battery. Nope was the starter.. We made an appointment for me to bring it in after the part came in and I was on my way.. The service of getting the starter replaced went smooth and I was totally satisfied. My only real complaint was they were so busy that it was hard to find a place to park.. Will be bringing in my SUV soon for an oil change and will now be taking it there for all the servicing I need on the vehicle.

The Best in This Area
First-class establishment, knowledgeable staff and owners and real old-world mechanics. These guys know their stuff and diagnose problems efficiently and thoroughly. They are not “parts changers” like the people at the service departments at the dealerships. Had a small hole in my manifold pipe. The dealership service dept. and Midas told me they could not repair it. They wanted to replace the whole muffler system for about $1,500. Bristol Auto repaired it for 5 times less. Bring it was a 12 year old car with almost 200,000 miles, they literally saved that car as I would not have spent 1,500. Bristol Auto rules!

Ms. MaryAnn
I just purchased a used car for my grandson from Mark the owner. He was extremely helpful in helping us understand all the mechanics of the car. I was impressed about his honesty and knowledge of the vehicle we were interested in. I would rate this dealership and the personnel a 10 out of 5. I would definitely go back.

Scammers
If you want a dealership that drags its feet, doesnt know anything about financing, then keeps your deposit and says we can have a talk about why we should give it back but we will have this talk when we feel like it.. So that means you keep my money?

Would Not Buy From Here Again
Purchasing a vehicle from Bristol Auto Center has been one of the worst experiences of my life. I had purchased a 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland from them in April 2018. The car ran okay during the test drive, had a rumble that I was assured would go away after new tires were installed. A week into the ownership of the vehicle, the rumble got worse (even with the new tires). Mark offered to take another look at the vehicle. Since he couldn’t replicate the issue, nothing was done, though he did explain his inspection of the systems of the vehicle. He graciously offered a vehicle from his lot as a loaner while he looked over my vehicle for any signs of an issue. A week after this inspection in which nothing was found, the issue arose again. Mark gladly looked over the vehicle again at his earliest convenience, once again offering a vehicle from his lot as a loaner while he looked over the vehicle again. Nothing was found, but researched some codes and potential issues. At this point, he made it very clear I had purchased a used vehicle and it was sold as-is. Ten days had gone by without any improvement. I had a passenger take videos on their phone to capture the issue I was dealing with, but Mark wouldn’t chase the problem any further. I kindly requested Mark either buy back the vehicle (less mileage depreciation) or offer an exchange for the dollar value I had paid, plus or minus any difference. Mark was appalled and quite offended, saying he had never heard such request and mentioned how lucky I am he is still talking to me. At this point I looked on the DMV website and it mentions the selling dealer must make repairs on the vehicle at no charge up to 60 days, or 3k miles, if the owner paid at least $5,000 for the vehicle. The qualifications are: the vehicle is 6 years old or less and the vehicle must be used for personal or household use. Of course, the vehicle is 7 years old, so Mark had an “out” there but in the spirit of customer service, he opted for taking the hard stance of saying everything is my problem now. Two weeks after the last inspection (I had gone on vacation and didn’t drive the car for 5 days), the air suspension fails to lift the vehicle to the proper ride height, which is now a safety problem. I called Mark to update him on the status of the vehicle, to which he irritably reconfirms I had purchased a ¬¬used vehicle and I purchased the car as-is, and once again scolded that every problem is now MY problem. He was once again frustrated with my unrealistic and unruly request for him to do more work, mentioning how he hasn’t charged me for any time or attempt at a repair since I had purchased the vehicle. Noting the Used Car Warranty from the CT DMV, this “good faith effort” was really only 1 year removed from a mandatory inspection and repair at no cost. If he was to go by that concrete miss of the warranty for the vehicle age, Mark really wants to cut corners. Mark is outraged by my constant request for inspection and repair. On the other side, think how I feel as a customer, purchasing a vehicle that requires me to bring it to a shop more times in 2 months than I had brought my old vehicle of 7 years. How do you think I felt: loss of time, coordinating drop-off and pick up, time of my research to better understand the problems at hand and focus my description of the issues when speaking with Mark? As he may have “lost” time and money from his inspections and the value of a loaner car (which wasn’t accumulating any value had I not been offered to me), I certainly have lost time and money of my own, requiring me to take time off from work to fit their shop hours as well as everything else stated above. Upon inspection by Papa’s Dodge, they note significant work done to the air suspension system but points to a blown air suspension control module. Once the module was replaced, the air compressor then had to be replaced. All in all, $4,500 of repairs required for a vehicle I had JUST P

Recent Used Car Purchase and History
I have had a 3-decade working relationship with Mark and Petr, and now Alex. Just purchased my FOURTH car through them, and they have been my go-to mechanic throughout. Knowledge, courtesy, professionalism and above all, ACCURACY, in all of our transactions.

Happy with 4runner
Buying a used car can be a nerve-wracking experience. But Mark and Alex at Bristol Auto Center made the process easy. No high pressure sales. Mark went out of his way to demonstrate/explain things and completed some maintenance work at no extra charge. I really like the vehicle I purchased and feel confident that it will perform well. I wish BAC was closer to me so I could take all my car repairs here, because Mark is an extremely knowledgeable mechanic. Would not hesitate to buy from them again.

Chevy Colorado 2005
We recently bought a 2005 Chevy Colorado from Bristol Auto. Working with the staff at Bristol Auto was great. Everyone was easy to work with and gave us a great deal. They even stayed late to finish our paperwork. The truck we bought has been great. I would highly recommend buying a used vehicle from Bristol Auto.
