Today, my wife and I test drove a 2022 Tucson Hybrid, (VIN ending in 7676), and were told that the price would be $4,000 over MSRP. Knowing that the "chip shortage" will soon be over we were not willing to pay this price and left the dealership. When we got home, we did an online search and through U.S. News Best Price Program, (Powered by TrueCar), we learned that Platinum Tracy had the best price for the vehicle that we were looking at and lo and behold it was the exact vehicle, (including VIN), that we had just test-drove. It was advertised on U.S. News/TrueCar's site at $2k over MSRP. Still ridiculous but my wife really liked the vehicle so what the heck. We called up the dealership and asked for our sales rep who wasn't available and the lady, (Arie?), recalled our visit and said that our rep wasn't available and I shared with her my on-line experience with U.S. News/True Car and she then put me on hold to discuss this w/the sales manager as the point of contact, Charles Mechura, was not available and Arie told me that since this was a third party offer that they were not obligated to honor it. I reminded her that the car was still available and that I had a "Deal Code" from U.S. News/TrueCar w/instructions to contact Charles Mechura and so on. This did not matter to her and she, in a very matter of fact manner, reiterated that they are not obligated to honor 3rd party offers. I discontinued the call at this time. I would recommend going elsewhere should you be in the market for a Hyundai.
