Worst service department experience I have ever had!

Worst service department experience I have ever had! I found out I had a bad ball joint and control arm that was worn when I got my oil changed elsewhere on Tuesday. I knew we purchased the extended warranty and verified this was a covered repair . I talked to Glenn in service at Betten Baker Grandville on Wednesday who said he could fix it the following day, Thursday morning. I explained I was leaving for a trip to the UP the following evening and was planning on taking this vehicle. He assured me it would be ready for me to pick up the next day (Thursday) . I dropped the car off Wednesday at 4:30pm. We go over the issue and my needs with Glenn again at this time. Glenn again assured me no worries it would be ready the next day ,Thursday evening and that he would be in touch in the morning after the guys looked it over to confirm the diagnosis and if there were any issues to be addressed the warranty didn’t cover. Thursday at 2pm I had not heard anything so just to be safe I call to confirm it would be ready as we discussed. Glenn informed me the mechanics inspected it earlier that morning and the issue was as we thought however there was a problem because our vehicle was covered under the original manufacturer warranty as well as the extended warranty I purchased separately and Betten Baker Grandville is not authorized to do the work under the manufacturer warranty and that the manufacturer warranty would be the primary due to the mileage and age of my vehicle. He said he found this out this morning but had not had a chance to talk to his supervisor to figure out how to go about this issue and to see if they could somehow get the work approved. They had my car sitting there all day and he had not had a conversation yet at 2pm knowing I was planning to pick up at 4pm, basically in 2 hours from the time I called him. I said this is not acceptable considering they had my car for 22 hours at this point and he knew he had to have my car ready in 2 hours and the work hadn’t been approved to be fixed much less any repair started. He was gonna talk to his supervisor call me right back. At 3pm no call back yet so decided to call him to see where things are at. Glenn tells me they are working on it. At 3:50 he calls and says it’s all fixed and I can pick it up. This was a lot of added stress I didn’t need. This Glenn running the service desk is a joke. The whole service desk area is a disorganized chaotic mess so it’s not surprising that he can’t follow through/up with customers as you would expect out of a service department. In the meantime I did reach out to Betten Baker Lowell where I purchased the car and was assured by my salesman Steve that if Betten Baker in Grandville didn’t come through for me that he would see to it I had a safe vehicle to take on my trip. In summary avoid Betten Baker Grandville and make the drive to Betten Baker Lowell where you won’t have the added stress and chaos of an under achieving service desk that doesn’t know how to provide customer service.

Fantastic service!

Fantastic service! After searching for cars in person in Northern Michigan where I live, I was becoming discouraged. Everything was too expensive or past the point of drivability. I found my 2018 Buick Encore online and with the help of Eric Ruibal from the Grand Rapids office, I am now driving my dream car. There were so many hoops to jump through from third parties, but they stayed patient and assured me we would handle it. Thank you Eric and Betten Baker for all your help! 10/10 would recommend!

Go to Frank.

I was in last week and met with salesman Frank Turner. I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised at Frank's ability to listen to my needs and quickly narrow down the perfect vehicle for me. I've never had a dealership experience as exceptional as this! I will be referring anyone I know to contact Frank for all of their automotive needs!! Thank you!!!! Bill M.

Horrible Sales Ethics

I went in for the promotion they are having. I got the flyer in the mail, peeled the tabs, and it said I wont 10,000 cash. I called the number on the flyer and the lady congratulated me and said I had to go to the Betten Baker on 28th street. I did, and then sales pitch started. I told the salesperson my budget, took the home to show my wife, and when I returned, I wanted to purchase the car. When I arrived at the dealership all I heard was these numbers are not final, received a very insulting trade in on a 2016 Equinox with very low miles, basically an auction price so the sale person said. I aksed what is the sale price on the car, he told me that did not matter, but had almost $35,000 for a 2018 Jeep Compass with 42,000 miles on it, and then proceeded to show me payments 200 per month higher , I told him I am not paying that, and again he said those numbers are not final. He never listened to anything I told him at all. I then pulled up an identical vehicle at another dealership with more options, same mileage, for $11K less than the $35K. He proceed to tell me I was rude, and I cannot come in there and show another dealerships prices to them, The floor manager even asked what dealership this other car was, and then walked away after looking at it. Then the salesman told me again that I was rude and I should go to Holland and buy that vehicle. I told him, "here's how rude I am, I'm out, and done with him" I walked out. I have purchasing cars for 45 years and have never been treated like this, or even tried to be gouged like this. I am filing a complaint with the states AG office for price gouging, and bad sales ethics.

Be aware at this dealership

This dealership sent pull tabs in the mail to lure people in. The pull tabs say you won a car. No one wins anything. Then they give you a fake $25 gift card. Very cheesy dealership.

bought a $35,000 truck from them last month and requested a second set of keys. First they said that was no problem and they would get me another set. When I followed up with them a week later they said that they hold the second set until all of the paperwork gets taken care of. I headed back in today and Trever (store manager) told me they don't have another set and aren't getting me one. If they're not going to be honest with the smaller things, I can't imagine they would be on the larger things. I would Not recommend. PS still waiting for the full tank of gas they also promised.
