On June 14, 2025, my son and I drove 6 hours from Tennessee to Springfield, IL to purchase his first car—a 2009 Ford Mustang—from Auto Mall of Springfield after finding it on CarGurus. He contacted the dealership to ask about shipping, but was told he had to apply through their site and drive up if approved. He applied, was approved, and we made the trip the same day. During the test drive, my son noticed the air wasn’t working. The salesman said it just needed to be charged and that AutoZone could do it. I asked if they could fix it before we left, but was told mechanics aren’t there on weekends. I expressed concern, since we had a long, hot drive back to TN. When we met with the manager for final approval, I brought it up again. He had the salesman recharge it. After finalizing approval, we were sent off-site to a different building to sign. The numbers didn’t match, and I had to insist they call the manager to fix it. We drove home to TN, but by the next day (June 16), the windows, A/C, and radio stopped working. On June 17, the car wouldn’t start. We replaced the battery to get it going. We called the dealership and were told the 15-day warranty only covers the transmission. On July 7, the car died again while driving and had to be towed. A police officer even asked my son if it was stolen. We took it to a Ford dealer who confirmed the motor was seized. I called the manager and politely explained. He was rude, dismissive, and hung up on me. I tried repeatedly to call back. Another rep said he’d call me back—he never did. Another manager hung up on me again. My son hadn’t even made his first payment. We were sold a lemon and treated terribly. Auto Mall of Springfield’s customer service is unacceptable. Their claims of “quality inventory” and “trusted service” are misleading. Do not buy from them.

2019 4 runner sr5 Beware!

2019 4 runner sr5 Beware!!! Called them on a Friday to see if vehicle was still available and it was, so l drove 1 1/2 hours. Vehicle was rough, but below blue book value. Made the deal under the agreement that the oil leak, 4x4, and bad vibration, left the required deposit and when all repaired I would make the trip back to pick up. I didn't hear anything from them, so called 4 days later and they assured me that everything was repaired so I headed back up there today. Upon arrival I took to get an inspection before finalizing and am grateful that I did. Best $60 l have ever spent. The Auto shop mechanic (Toyota expert) recommended by the sales guy inspected the vehicle and noted some alarming issues. The vibration was still there, the oil leak was still there and identified as timing chain cover issue, all the exterior lights were randomly going on and off indicating an electrical short and the best was that it wasn't the original motor. With all of these symptoms the certified Toyota technician stated that it was most likely a flood vehicle. I called lou fuze Toyota in st.louis to see how much to replace the motor and go through and repair the electrical system, I was told that $20k would be a ballpark number. I returned and spoke to a different sales person, I guess that is what they do to mislead and confuse customers. I offered them $10k under their asking price and he laughed stating that I must have worked with this shop before, I told him that I have not and live almost 2 hours away and reminded him that this shop was referred to me by them. asked for my deposit back, he the went to the owners son and he tried to keep $100 of my deposit. I finally had to show my bank statement to the other sales guy because the owners kid would not even talk to me as l fell that he knew that this deal wasn't on the up and up. I finally got my full deposit back with some persuasion. I hope people read this post, especially if you are interested in this 2019 black sr5 BEWARE!!! I will add the full inspection report if anyone wants to see it. It is unfortunate that innocent people are being taken advantage of. Come on AMos you should know better. I am looking into other avenues regarding their ethics. Buyer beware!!

Huge disappointment.

Huge disappointment. Found a nice car for my daughter. We went to check it out.drove it, no problems, made a deal. When it came time to close the deal, we were lied to, and they tried to sneak in extra charges. We agreed on gap insurance then they said they couldn't get and tried to sneak in a 1500$ charge they said was for wheels, tires, and key fob insurance which we did not discuss. I would not trust these people for anything. READ EVERYTHING BEFORE SIGNING

Auto Mall of Springfield - Deceptive and Predatory

Auto Mall of Springfield - Deceptive and Predatory Practices Auto Mall of Springfield: Deceptive and Predatory Practices - A Cautionary Tale for Car Buyers Auto Mall of Springfield, located in Springfield, Illinois is deceptive and predatory business that should raise serious concerns for anyone considering purchasing a vehicle there. Concerning Practices: Bait and Switch Tactics: The online listing on platforms like CarFax advertises a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LT for $8,495, presenting a seemingly reasonable price. However, the customer experienced a significant price increase during the financing process, with the financed amount ballooning to nearly $10,000 after a $4,000 down payment. This suggests a potential "bait and switch" tactic, where customers are lured in with an attractive online price only to face hidden fees and inflated costs later. Predatory Financing: The dealership's financing terms are highly questionable. The total repayment of nearly $23,000 on a roughly $5,000 loan over 60 months indicates an outrageously high interest rate. This suggests predatory lending practices that exploit individuals with limited credit history. The dealership's explanation that "Credit Acceptance (Financial Institution) makes up their prices" is a clear attempt to deflect responsibility and lacks transparency. Refusal to Refund Down Payment: The dealership's refusal to refund the $4,000 down payment is unethical and potentially illegal. If the financing terms were not clearly disclosed and agreed upon before the payment was processed, the customer has a strong argument for a refund. The dealership's insistence that the customer choose another vehicle is unacceptable. Inadequate Documentation: The provided bill of sale is partially illegible and incomplete, raising serious concerns about the dealership's record-keeping practices. A proper bill of sale should clearly outline all purchase details, including the vehicle's price, financing terms, and any applicable fees. The hand written bill of sale is also not a common practice in modern dealerships. Lack of Transparency: Overall, the dealership demonstrates a lack of transparency in its pricing and financing practices. Customers are not provided with clear and accurate information about the total cost of their purchase, which is a fundamental consumer right. Recommendations for Potential Customers: Exercise Extreme Caution: Avoid doing business with Auto Mall of Springfield if possible. Read All Documents Carefully: If you must consider purchasing a vehicle there, carefully review all documents before signing, including the bill of sale, financing agreement, and any other paperwork. Obtain Pre-Approval for Financing: Secure pre-approval for financing from a reputable bank or credit union before visiting the dealership. Document Everything: Keep detailed records of all communication, including emails, text messages, and phone calls. File Complaints: If you experience any issues, file complaints with the Illinois Attorney General's office, the Better Business Bureau, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Seek Legal Advice: If you believe you have been a victim of deceptive practices, consult with an attorney specializing in consumer protection. Auto Mall of Springfield's business practices raise serious red flags. Potential customers should exercise extreme caution and consider alternative dealerships. The dealership's lack of transparency, predatory financing, and refusal to refund the down payment are unacceptable and warrant further investigation.

If I could give this dealer a 0 start rating I would!

If I could give this dealer a 0 start rating I would! This place is so unprofessional! I’m surprised to even see a five star rating or people having anything good to say about them. All the bad reviews are completely true! Why? Because I’ve had the same exact experience with them myself! I bought a 2020 Camaro from them and this car has a bunch of problems. The brakes were rusted and squeaking very loudly! I had to buy new brake pads and rotors because the rotors were worn and warped! How can you sell a car like that?! Rotors for 6 piston brake calipers are easily over a $2000. The oil life was below 30% and on top of all that, the car had a bad battery. I had to jump start the car twice! And the second time it wouldn’t start so I had to remove the battery and take it to Autozone. The xxxx battery read as a “bad battery below 10%” That’s not all! The interior was not cleaned, the car came with no floor mats, less than half a tank of fuel, the tag lights are flickering and a piece of the spoiler was missing! You will also be forced to Purchase some “appearance protection” warranty that costs $1,995 and a “theft deterrent” for $995. They claim they won’t sell the car without those added to the OTD price. THEY DO NOT RETURN CALLS!!!!!! Absolutely no one in the dealership takes your call and if they do they won’t get back to you about anything you requested. Please save yourself the headache and take your business else where. I will be reporting them to the Illinois Dealer Licensing Board! Because I still haven’t received my title and other paperwork so I can register this xxx car!

I purchased a 2013 mini cooper in september they told me

I purchased a 2013 mini cooper in september they told me it had been through their shop and had not been wrecked. I believe it went through their shop in one end out the other. After getting the carfax from mini of St. Louis it showed the car had been wrecked also not maintained. I have spent over $3500.00 trying to get the car running properly still having issues paid to have it delivered that did not happen either had to pick it up myself the car was in a gravel lot covered with dirt also had a dead battery and no gas I got my delivery fee back. I would suggest no one purchase a car from these people they are liars and a rip off.

We bought a 2022 Jeep Wrangler from this dealership.

We bought a 2022 Jeep Wrangler from this dealership. Upon driving home on an interstate for about 30 miles at 70 mph, we got to town and noticed a strange sound from under the rear end. Upon checking he found a broken spring was dangling. We called the dealership who stated they would fix it. When we picked it up, their idea of fixing was to spot weld and cover their bandaid work with rubber hose and zip ties. We took it to three places to try to get a new spring and were told they wouldn’t touch it because the vehicle wasn’t safe to drive and they would not be liable if there was an issue. So we returned it to Auto Mall of Springfield and they refused to give our money back, $25,000. The only way we could resolve it was to buy another vehicle that cost over twice as much. They don’t return phone calls, make promises they don’t keep and have scammed so many people. This place needs prosecuted for their shady business practices. They have numerous car lots doing business as Rehan Motors. Avoid these people at all costs.
