Went in for an oil change….

Went in for an oil change…. Died on the way home, water pouring out from under the dash… Cars done…trashed. First time using this dealership. 2005 v50 106k on the motor. Lean not on your own understanding…. <><

Excellent service dept.

Excellent service dept. Jud White does a great job with customer service. Even the lady who's a receptionist at the desk in the sales showroom is a peach.

The service department takes great care of my S60, and

The service department takes great care of my S60, and Jud White, my service advisor, always makes me feel like I'm the most important customer there. Those are the two reasons I always get any necessary service for my car done at Courtesy Volvo. A comfortable, spacious waiting area, and a sparkling clean ladies' room are pluses, too.

Dealerships are all the same and play the same games.

Dealerships are all the same and play the same games. Just when you hope you found a place that may be different. They pulled the same stuff. This isn't a comment on the people. The people were fine and kind. It's really just an issue of the sales tactics dealerships employ that are dishonest and not in good faith negotiation. Luckily as a consumer I get to choose where I spend my money and I'm happy to say I found a Volvo at another dealership who didn't play games. This review was made at the end of 2022 and I expect tactics will change as the market continues to shift as dealerships will be fighting for every sale.

Don't get cheated

I purchased a used, one-owner Volvo from Courtesy in August 2021. All signs indicated it was a great car! 2015 model with 103,000 miles, clear CarFax, nearly all maintenance was even done at Courtesy! In the just over 1 year I have owned the car, it's been nothing but problems. One of the "brand new" tires blew within the first 2 months of owning the car. I have put on under 8,000 miles since owning the car, and yet about every 2,000 miles the low-oil light has come on. The first time it came on I was told "It's only about a quart low, just pay us $180 for the oil change and you're good to go." This was in the spring, after less than 2,000 miles. Needless to say, I wasn't happy, but I trusted their expertise. Then, about 4 months and another 2,000 miles, the low-oil light comes on again! So we take it in, they drain the oil, and it's now low by 3-4 quarts. Luckily, we brought it in about a week before the warranty I PAID EXTRA FOR for runs out. However, they take well past that time to do diagnostics, only to tell me that they don't know what's causing the oil leakage! It's not dripping, the scope they supposedly performed didn't show anything, so we can't make a warranty claim. They recommend I replace the oil trap, that should fix the problem. Especially since Volvo recommends it be done at 100,000 miles. Why wasn't this done before I purchased the car, at 103,000 miles?! Another $800 out of my pocket. No surprise, the light comes on again under 2k miles. This time I bring it in and the result is that we need an entire engine replacement! According to the dealership this costs around $15,000. I bought the car for less. But hey, Courtesy told me they've been "seeing this issue a lot more recently" and that "Volvo will usually step up and help cover maybe up to half that cost" and that they will "help as much as they can as well". At this point, I just want out from this vehicle and preferably away from this dealership. It seems to me that they either knew about the problem when they sold it to me or failed to diagnose the extent of the problem. Because if they've "been seeing this issue a lot more lately" then why didn't they investigate it more thoroughly the first time the low-oil light came on, 6 months before the warranty ended? That's either negligence, or direct manipulation hoping to get me beyond that warranty so they can make even more profit. But wait, there's more! I purchased the car and put over half the amount down, and built up over equity on my loan for the remaining amount in the VERY short time I've owned the car. So when I tell them I'd rather get a new vehicle, and I'll give them a chance to try and make this right, the sales manager only offers the equity I've built in the loan. Now, when I mention the substantial down payment equity I had when I bought the car, I was brushed off as "well it needs a new engine now, and the market is different". Not to mention the approximately $1,300 I've put into maintenance and new tires and all of the time spent dealing with this mess. It's now been over 3 weeks since I've heard from the dealership, and the last I heard the sales manager passed me off onto a poor salesman with none of the background information. The bottom line is: they either willingly sold me a car with a major defect, failed to take necessary steps to fix the problem when first presented, or deliberately pushed me beyond my warranty I PAID EXTRA FOR. Then to top that off, they are trying to tell me I've essentially lost more than two thirds what i paid for the vehicle in just over a year. DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM THIS "FAMILY-OWNED" DEALERSHIP!!
