Waste of Time

My husband called about a Jeep they had for sale. He specifically asked if anything was wrong with it. After driving 2 hours we find out they are still working on the Jeep (that we was told nothing was wrong with) and that it has additional problems. Some honestly would have been nice before drive 2 hours to sit and wait to look at a xxx.

Found my dream truck

I bought a 1999 Ford Lightning from Direct Auto of Tennessee. It's hard to find these trucks in good condition and I had been looking for some time, but Direct Auto had what I was looking for. Due to work I was unable to make the trip from Missouri, but they spent the time to answer all of my questions, send pictures and a video. The truck showed up and exceeded my expectations! Amazing condition!! Thanks Charles!

Don't ask any questions, just sign.

If you are willing to completely trust Direct Auto of Tennessee, without asking too many questions, you might be happy with the experience and your purchase, but I wouldn’t know; my experience was the worst I’ve ever had. Being new to purchasing remotely, out-of-state, I had a few questions, such as why why they need a power-of-attorney, and application for title extension. They had emailed me the bill-of-sale for review, but then sent me additional paperwork for signature, partially blank and without any instructions or explanations. I attempted to complete it but checked a wrong box. Vincent Caccese (GM) immediately called me and told me I made the paperwork unusable and invalid. In all cases their response was that I should trust them, they are not “fly by night crooks”, “It’s the safest way for them to do business”, and that I was making it “the most difficult transaction they have ever seen”. I was buying with cash, not doing a trade-in, or financing and completed all the paperwork they asked for within their process, including wiring money. Apparently answering questions and providing complete forms with explanations is much more difficult for them then a trade-in, and financing. They also never answered questions about the paint job they did on the trunk lid (home many coats), or provide pictures requested. Yet Charles (owner) said “they jumped through every hoop” for me. The only “hoop” was driving it to an independent auto mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection. Otherwise I was the one asked to jump through hoops with blind trust, while being told I was “insinuating” they were not real. The coup-de-grace was telling me they would notarize and complete the POA without me being present. When I asked Vincent Caccese, the GM, how they could do that, he said the laws in Tennessee are different; they do it all the time. With this I realized I was being lied to and I walked away from the deal. They returned my deposit, but only after Charles sent me a lengthy chain of texts complaining about me as a “difficult” and “offensive” customer.

Hi Mr Miller, Sorry we let you down. On June 11 we first spoke, I answered all of your questions, and even put you in touch with the previous owner to give you an extra level of comfort that the car was as described. From there we delivered the car to an independent bmw mechanic to perform a pre purchase inspection and it was more than satisfactory being this was a 16 year old $12k 330i ZHP. On June 18 we agreed to a price of $11354 out the door and you went to your bank and got a cashiers check. This is where this transaction went south, I informed you that we were unable to accept an out of state check for a couple of reasons.... 1st being that fraudulent cashiers checks written from Chase bank in particular are being presented at multiple dealers across the country and people are taking off with the cars. I explained in detail that I didn't believe that you were a person like that but it was irresponsible for us as a business to accept out of state checks when we know it's a potential liability. Secondly, in our state we have no recourse if we collect an out of state check that isn't honored. Both of these explanations have been given to multiple out of state buyers and all but you accepted the reasoning behind it. At that point I requested a wire as a form of payment to which you responded that there was no way for you to know that we even existed or owned the car. Keep in mind that, to this point, we had put you in contact with the previous owner, taken the car to a mechanic, and sent a copy of the actual title. Finally we came to an agreement for you to wire the money where I was going to meet your cousin, an hour from the dealership, with the car and the title, so you would feel comfortable enough to complete the transaction. From the very beginning you questioned our very existence, legitimacy, mentioned scam multiple times, etc. I admit I was frustrated, there comes a tipping point for anyone when they do absolutely everything to give someone everything they request and keep being told that they are fake or trying to scam when everything that was done to that point showed the exact opposite. We overnighted you the paperwork which is required by the state and you returned them with multiple edits and became hostile when we told you we could not accept documents that were edited. At that point, on June 22, we informed you we would send your deposit back and sell the car elsewhere, it was overnighted the following day. We never once asked you to trust us and showed you documentation or gave third party verification for everything you asked for. We recommended you go to the bank for a notary, it is a categorically false statement that we said we would notarize a POA for a vehicle transaction without you present. We did everything to the letter we said. What you failed to mention is that after the horrible experience that on June 29th you called Joey, your sales rep and offered 1k less than you originally agreed to purchase the car for, to which we politely declined. I'm perplexed that, if your experience was as horrible and we were as unethical as you claim, you would attempt to still buy anything from us. much less a 12k BMW. Charles

THE BEST PURCHASE I'VE EVER MADE!!

It is my pleasure to write this review in regards to "Direct Auto of Tennessee", because of thier exemplary professionalism and customer service! I made contact with the company on March 25th 2020, and was referred to "Jesse Sprague" to fulfill my vehicle inquiries. I was looking to purchase a new Mercedes-benz Cls 63 Amg s and this company had a gorgeous one for sale. Now, I'm a fairly particular and detailed individual when it comes to buying anything unseen, so I had a myriad of picture angle requirements as well as video requests. Jesse without hesitation, sent me around 50 photos with a few high definition videos vividly illustrating the vehicle's condition, he was excited to show me the car and was happy for me! This man came in early to the office just to make sure I was comfortable and confident befor my purchase, who does that?!!? Mind you this is all during the CORONA-VIRUS pandemic! Once my paperwork was completed, I set up shipping, in which Jesse came from the comfort of his home to ensure that my vehicle was being handled professionally TWICE throughout this shipping process!! He was protective, sent me pictures, videos and all the shipper's information to make sure I was at ease. This, by an, extraordinary margin has been the best purchasing experience I've ever had and i can't say enough good things about Jesse! I have made a friend through this process, and next time I am in town drinks are on me sir, thank you!!!

Highly recommended!!!

Theses guy was great. I came in looking to trade in my pick up. I told Jason what I was looking for and my price range, and they made it happen. Theses guys are very professional and not the all day back and forth stuff. If your looking for a vehicle give these guys a shout.

Long distance purchase.

I expressed an interest in a vehicle through autotrader late one night. I was promptly contacted the next day. A couple phone conversations later and I was on my way to see the vehicle. Very courteous people. No high pressure sales tactics. They went, what i would consider to be, way out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with both their service and the vehicle. I will say here and now that I am very happy with both. Its hard to find dealerships that WANT you to be satisfied even if you don't buy from them. I did buy the vehicle and will consider them first when it comes time to get another one.

2 Thumbs Down from Me

Came in for test drive I informed salesman the night before I would be in around 9:30 am. Was told we could talk trade value and purchase price when I got there. I got there a few minutes late they had to move 10 cars to get it out. Salesman could find a dealer plate then it needed gas couldn't find the fuel card. Test drove the vehicle it drove nice. The salesman took photos of my trade including the vin number for the sales manager. Was asked when they could give me a idea what my trade was worth they told me the general manager wasn't in but could get back to me in a few hours. I called back that afternoon was told only the owner could give me a price on my trade and only when I agreed to sit down a buy the vehicle. Funny thing is I have been talking to dealerships from our area and as far away as Nashville and all have give me quotes that were close to KBB. I explained that we are very busy on the weekends and would happy to bring my trade in during the week to save time in case the numbers didn't work for both parties. Was told we do it all at the same time when you ready to make the purchase it's just how the do business. We they won't be getting my business. Felt like there time was more valuable than mine. It's a shame I liked the vehicle and there price was good.

Bad business

Drove an hour and a half to buy the car after emailing the dealership all day about it. When I arrived later that day, I was informed they had taken a deposit and it was no longer for sale. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Good morning, Mr. Siress. We apologize for the delay in communication as the only contact information we had for you was an email address. With our inventory changing rapidly, the team makes every attempt to contact any and all interested clientele before a vehicle is purchased. Vehicles are sometimes available for days/weeks, but more often they are purchased very quickly after a listing goes live. We understand your frustration, and apologize again for any inconvenience.

Hi Matt, Are you sure you were here? We have no record of an appraisal coming in. We would not give you a "no haggle" offer for your truck without evaluating it. Also wouldn't miss something by $5500. We are a small business and you have given us the first negative review since we have been in business. Please contact me directly with your concerns so if that happened we can figure out what happened. Thanks, Charles 615-772-3181

Concierge Level Experience

I admit it...I needed a lot of hand holding to buy my car from afar, so this dealership was a perfect fit for me. Charles made it happen! He was knowledgeble, communicative, and service-oriented...and this was all virtually! Car was delivered on budget, on time, and with no surprises!
