This is not a critique of Auto Trader.

This is not a critique of Auto Trader. They have no control over how we get treated after the referral. That said.... Ready to get overcharged and bamboozled? This is your place. I checked out their listing in auto trader. I liked one of their cars and told them I would like to buy it. AFTER they ran a credit check on me and dinged my credit, they sent me an invoice with $3,500 worth of clear coat and lo-jack charges. I said I didn't want any of that and to please remove it. After I hung up on them they called me back and said the "manager" decided to remove the paint protection scam but said the lo-jack could't be removed but he/she discounted the price and left $1500 on the invoice. I asked them why it wasn't included in the original price. No answer. If they have a theft problem that's on them. Why should I pay for it? No answer. Why wasn't it offered as an option before they ran my credit? No answer. Used car lots in many places are pulling this scam to make a few bucks off of us. They lure you in with a good price, run your credit then add the sucker charges knowing that most people will pay it because they have come that far. It isn't illegal. (I checked) But it should be! They called me back again the next day and offered to sell me the car without the added charges. I would have had to have the car shipped and by then I knew they would try something else to pry out a few dishonest bucks. Avoid these guys!

BAIT n SWITCH !

BAIT n SWITCH !!! Do not waste ur time and drive there, they will ask you to come to see the car and they will insist that they won't negotiate over the phone, they play that trick only to get u to them and trap u, after u start asking their scam protection packages that costs $5000 lol they get mad and become very rude and they bring a girl to talk to you in order to intimidate you and ask if you can afford it LOL just skip this dealer for your mental health sake, these are thieves and something must be done by the states to get rid of these scammers, and again, you will drive there for nothing, they will promise you the price will not change but once u get there, it's another story, Avoid at all costs.

Went to the dealership on multiple times.

Went to the dealership on multiple times. Was told I was approved for an auto loan. Then I went in a week and a half later to finalize the deal I went from $1500 down to $8k because I complained about the salesman. The salesman was Pierre. He does not know what he is doing. They wanted to run my credit again after I was told I had an approval. Do not do business with them. Not a good dealership. False promises.

I was able to purchase a car within my budget and the associate Vincent was very thorough with the entire process. He was just trying to make a quick sale, he was very personable and answered all of my questions. He’s definitely the person to go to if you’re thinking of purchasing a car within them.

Initially I was given a price for the vehicle, when the paperwork was given to me by the salesman, the wiz writing the document inflated the agreed price by $8000.00, the salesman didn't know why, he then brought the manager and I was told it was due to accessories that were added by the dealer, at that point I was ready to walk. He then came back with another price, this time only inflated by $6000.00, as I got up to leave they decided to sell it to me for the agreed price, with a 9% interest rate, only reason I agreed was I've been looking for the color combination and I knew I could finance with my Credit Union as soon as I received the registration from DMV. Reason I did not finance with the Credit Union is they do not deal with Mom and Pops dealers, I can now see why, they have to be the crookest Mom & Pop around. when I finally was going to drive home, it wouldn't start and had a vibration in side the dash that the salesman said was due to the weak battery, I drove home and the next time I started the vehicle the vibration was still there, I attempted to contact the salesman and manager, I was ghosted. Eventually I had the issue resolved and I recommend staying away from them crooks. By the way, my credit rating is 755 and I found out the make their profits on high interest rates. Ridiculous and unethical is what they are.

Saw a post on line and reached out about the car.

Saw a post on line and reached out about the car. Next day got a message from Mina the "Sales Manager" telling me to come by and check it out. So I head over to the dealership and upon arrival it was dead, no visible customers around, and a gaggle of 5 sales people standing around on their phones, I was approached by a young woman, I showed her the posting and told her straight up its the only vehicle I want to see. She said ok I'll go grab it from the back. While waiting I was approached by another person asking what I was there to see.... When she came back out again she was in a completely different car and said the one i wanted to see was in their overflow lot an hour away in Montclair but that this one was similar so why not check it out. I said xxx, how long to get the one I'm ACTUALLY here to see on this site and she told me an hour or less. I was like ok fine. I test drove the one she brought out to kill time and it drove like xxxx. There was clearly mechanical issues, along with brakes that were bad, tires were bald, and the exterior and interior were filthy. 25-30 min go and I asked what the ETA was of the vehicle I wanted to see and she said "oh it will be about an hour till its get here from the other lot in Montclair. I was like seriously, I google the distance to see travel time and it was only 50min away. Meaning it should have only been another 20-30min at most for it to have been brought over. I told her I’d go grab some food and to txt me when it gets there. I leave and go get food and then come back an hour and half later, thinking xxxx that should be more then enough time for them to get it over from the other lot. Upon arriving back to the lot, yet different guy claiming to be the "Sales Manager" comes up and tells me it’s still 45 min away and I flat out told him I’m done. He was like you can’t stay? I told him no I have other xxxx to do. You guys wasted 3 hours of my time, continuing to yet again tell me oh another hour, another hour, I’m done. He acted all surprised like you can’t sick around really? I told him to call me when it arrive and maybe I’ll swing by later after I take care of other business. Or I’ll be back tomorrow, if they even get it here. And I walked away. They definitely dont respect your time. Another thing about the whole ordeal is that at least 5-6 times they had come up and asked me to come sit and discuss figures and numbers. How am I supposed to discuss anything without seeing the xxxx vehicle!! Unprofessional across the board. Fire the whole team and start fresh with people who actually understand proper communication, customer service, and that have respect.
