About our dealership

When McGrath Elmhurst Toyota and the Elmhurst Auto Group opened our doors more than 40 years ago, the mission was simple. Our aim was to help drivers find the right vehicle at the best price and to remove all the obstacles to buying and servicing that vehicle. We wanted to make driving fun again and connect car-buyers with models that met more of their needs. That remains our goal today, and drivers from Oakbrook, Lombard, Elgin, Schaumburg, and Chicago count on us to deliver the kind of service they can’t get at any other dealership in the area.

My widowed mother who is 73 years old was taken advantage

My widowed mother who is 73 years old was taken advantage of by the service department at McGrath Elmhurst Toyota. She has a 2008 Camry Hybrid with 123k miles on it. She has owned it since new. The car is roughly worth $3500, it's in fair shape cosmetically. She went in for new tires and an oil change. After it was all said and done, they soaked my mother for $7706.35 almost 2-1/2 times the value of her car. They did NOT offer her to put 8k and a trade in on a new Camry, they flat out took advantage of her! DO NOT GO TO McGrath Elmhurst Toyota, they take advantage of Senior Citizens. Here is what they replaced, scaring my mother telling her, "if it was my mother, I would get this work done." Radiator, after inquiring, they said the seam in the radiator was leaking, even though there was no coolant ever found on the garage floor or smell of coolant. They told her it was "evaporating" as it leaked, yet her car NEVER over heated and the boiling point of coolant is 223 degrees at normal outside pressure. Total for parts and labor, $1460.51 (which included 4 new radiator hose clamps at $41.07 a piece, mind you the originals are stainless steel) Both lower Control arms: For a total of $2218.86 parts and labor. This was clearly not needed. ONE CV boot cover, not the trans axle. $770.58 Replace Heat shields over the exhaust (not needed, seeing washers would of done the trick to keep the old ones in place.) $458.64 SWOLLEN LUG NUTS!: Even though she bought new tires from the dealer, they charged her $140.44 ($20.84 to INSTALL THEM!!!) Coolant Flush: This really got me, seeing they replaced her radiator, they charged her $299.95 to Flush the coolant that clearly was removed when they changed the radiator. Hybrid Inverter Flush: Again, flushed the coolant with the new radiator, another bull$hit charge. $287.37 4 Wheel alignment: $199.95 New tires which she went in for: $831.50 Oil Change which she went in for: $116.75 Fuel Injection Cleaning: $299.95 Throttle body Cleaning: $99.95 Literally charged her 100 bucks to spray carb cleaner into the throttle body. Break Flush $219.95 Another thing not needed seeing she had this done about 50k miles ago. $228.35 Tax $72.60 Shop Supplies $1.00 for her 4th tire, even though the tire deal was garbage and you could get the same tires for about $150 cheaper at any tire outlet. RIP OFF STAY AWAY I'd give it a ZERO Rating if possible!

McGrath Review Do not recommend In what should’ve

McGrath Review Do not recommend In what should’ve been a seamless process turned into a pretty lengthy ordeal. Came in to check out a 2025 Tacoma that they list there were two available on the lot. Turned out they only had one available in the lot since the manager has the other in his possession. Salesman told us there was no budging with pricing. Salesman made at least three trips to sales floor manager. Sales manager did not even leave his desk to come and talk to my wife and I about pricing. This is my third Toyota purchased since 2005. This is my last purchased at this dealership. Seems like loyalty to Toyota at this dealership gets you nowhere. Not even a hand shake or conversation with their sales manager who seemed too busy to bother with our purchase. We had money to put down, our own financing, and pretty much Toyota dealership would be paid out that day through our financing (as if it was a cash purchase made on our end since dealership paid out that day and we pay our financing company vs Toyota). Respect goes a long way. I’ll not be purchasing another vehicle from here. If the vehicle I wanted wasn’t readily available at this dealership i would’ve taken my time, money, and family elsewhere. Not pleased. Let’s see how the truck holds up. Luckily the manager left 1 of the two vehicles they listed as available in the dealership lot.

Avoid this dealership due to misleading practices.

Avoid this dealership due to misleading practices. On March 28th, I visited McGrath Elmhurst Toyota to purchase a brand-new vehicle. I initially worked with Melissa, who seemed to promise a smooth transaction. I was interested in an SE Hybrid, but since it wasn't available, Melissa offered me another vehicle that was listed as "for sale but in transit." She emphasized that cars were selling quickly and persuaded me to put down a $1000 deposit after confirming availability with her manager. However, upon returning home, I discovered the dealership’s website still listed the vehicle as "available but in transit," and the status changed to "vehicle in transit, sale pending" the next day. Between March 28th and April 16th, I received sporadic updates from Melissa, stating that the vehicle would likely arrive mid-April. On April 17th, I emailed her for another status update but received no response. Instead, I got a text message from the dealership stating that the vehicle was still in the "build phase" and wouldn't be ready until May 4th—a completely different vehicle than the one I had placed a deposit on. When I visited the dealership in person to resolve the issue, I met the manager, Casey, who was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. Casey falsely claimed that someone else had placed a deposit on the original vehicle before me, contradicting what Melissa had initially said. Furthermore, while at the dealership for the first time, I checked smart.path.toyota website, which showed the car available to start online purchase. Casey then tried to push me to accept another car in the "build phase" instead. When I insisted on receiving the vehicle outlined in my purchase agreement (which was manufactured in Japan), he brazenly told me to "forget about it" and shockingly stated that the purchase agreement I had signed "doesn't mean anything." This experience highlighted deceptive sales tactics, poor communication, and a lack of integrity at McGrath Elmhurst Toyota. I strongly advise others to be cautious and reconsider dealing with this dealership.

I had a very pleasant experience at McGrath Toyota

I had a very pleasant experience at McGrath Toyota because of my Service Rep Evan. Not only was he personable and friendly, Evan also had infinite kindness, patience and understanding. I will definitely be back, because even though Dealerships are usually more expensive, the stellar customer service that Evan displayed is absolutely priceless and makes it all worth it. All Dealerships and mechanics offer the same things-- part and repairs-- the one and only difference being customer service, the way a person is treated, and Evan of McGrath Toyota just won his team the first place trophy.

Bought a used Tacoma in January, felt like we got a fair

Bought a used Tacoma in January, felt like we got a fair deal, met Edgar Martinez; Younger gentleman, Not your typical car salesman, not full of xx. Edgar worked closely with me, built the exact trim level and accessories I wanted; he did not push anything extra on me. Dealership was transparent with the pricing from day one. Yes I paid MSRP, but nothing extra, they did not push anything, no dealer installed options, and no market adjustment. ( I did wait 2 & 1/2 months, but I got exactly what I wanted)

Costumer service is bad.

Costumer service is bad. Lol I contacted them on ebay and who ever running their account wasn't a big help. I called them out about it and they blocked me. Who run their social media? A child?

Justin made the experience of buying my daughter’s first

Justin made the experience of buying my daughter’s first car absolutely wonderful! From the moment we walked in, he welcomed us with genuine warmth and made us feel at ease. He took the time to explain everything in detail, patiently answering all our questions—no matter how small. Justin was there every step of the way, ensuring we understood every part of the process. I truly appreciated his dedication and the care he showed. He made what could have been an overwhelming experience smooth and enjoyable. Thank you, Justin, for making this milestone so special for our family!

My issue began after leaving with the vehicle and driving

My issue began after leaving with the vehicle and driving it for a day. The Bluetooth microphone never worked. I couldn’t make calls, couldn’t give voice commands, couldn’t do anything that required me to speak to it. That might not sound like the worst thing in the world, but I drive all over the place for work and to get the kids where they need to go. I’m always on the phone, and this completely removes that aspect. This issue wasn’t disclosed to me before or at the time of purchase (likely because you guys didn’t check), and on the website, Bluetooth was listed as one of the features. So, I called back the next day and spoke to Casey, who told me to try bringing it to Volkswagen. I didn’t buy the car from them. Why would I bring it to them? So then he says to bring it to you guys, I’ll get a loaner, you’ll take a look, and I won’t pay anything. Good stuff, that’s what I would expect from a "reputable" dealership. I brought it in around 4 pm Thursday (just a little over 24 hours after buying the vehicle) to have it checked out. I got a loaner (Virginia was awesome), and I was on my way, hoping to hear something back the next day as to a timeline or update. I called four times, left messages, and got no returned calls. I called again around 5, got bounced around, and I refused to let anyone hang up without giving me some sort of update (by the way, somebody actually told me they couldn’t put me on hold anymore). Eventually, I got the receptionist (who’s great), and she said Dan would call me. He did and explained that the car went to VW earlier in the day, and he hadn’t heard back yet. That’s at least something. So not completely terrible yet. Monday comes, and I’m hoping for good news (80+ hours with the loaner vehicle, 27 with the vehicle purchased for 25k + some other package from your dealership, if you’re keeping track). Early afternoon, I reached out again since nobody proactively contacted me, and finally, I spoke to Evan, whom I tried multiple times to reach on Friday. He tells me that Dan will contact me. Dan calls and says he hadn’t heard from VW yet but will call me again later with an update. Dan calls at 5:50 to say VW sees the problem, they ordered a part, and are hopeful they will have it fixed tomorrow (Tuesday). I’m excited, thinking I might get my car back Tuesday or Wednesday at worst. Tuesday comes (104+ hours with the loaner vehicle, 27 with the vehicle purchased for 25k + some other $2,000 package from your dealership, if you’re still keeping track), and Dan calls me around 2:15 and leaves a message saying the part didn’t work and they have to order it specially, which will take 3-5 days. I called VW myself to verify, and yes, it’s a part that takes 3-5 days (I actually called two VW dealerships to verify this), but it sounds like they did not start working on it until Monday, which is the reason for all the delays. That could have been communicated better. But all this now means that I searched and searched for a car for 3-4 weeks, test-drove multiple vehicles, then made the decision to buy from McGrath Toyota instead of any side-of-the-road dealership because I assumed you did your due diligence on a car you would sell, only to have my car for 27 hours. Meanwhile, I have to drive this loaner vehicle for a minimum of an entire week, but it could last into next week depending on the delivery of the OCU module. By the way, in my initial message to Casey on Thursday, 8/15, I told him that the OCU module was likely the issue and even linked to an article that explains the issue completely. But hey, 5 days later, VW sees it too. I'm frustrated. I thought I was getting better than this when buying at Mcgrath. I have a 16 year old who I plan on buying a car for around the holidays then 3 more kids 7-8 years down the line who will need cars also. I will not be buying from any McGrath.
