had a nightmare situation with Kempthorn Motors and their
had a nightmare situation with Kempthorn Motors and their service department which really could of been avoided with just some basic communication from their staff. No one their seems to communicate with each other and they certainly did not communicate with me regarding my car repair. I brought my car in to have some work done under warranty which I was originally told was a vacuum leak so theyd order the parts and it should only take a few days. After about 2 weeks of hearing nothing I finally called the service department to check the status on my car. The answer I received is we are just waiting on the new engine to arrive. Apparently they decided to just replace my entire engine instead but didn't think it might be important to notify me the owner of the car that they were going to replace my entire engine. Fast forward another month forward and the new engine finally arrives they install it. I get a call asking if I was having any issues with my brakes when I brought the car in which I was not so they determined that the rotors had rusted frozen from sitting at their lot for 6 weeks waiting on the engine. They went ahead and replaced the rotors and brakes and I finally had my car back. I ran into multiple issues when finally getting my car back. The first being after driving my car for a week I went to use the emergency brake and it was completely limp and had been disconnected. Again this something that could have been solved by some simple communication. If there is an issue with the emergency brake at least contact the customer and give them the option to fix it before just disconnecting it without telling me. For one its a pretty big safety issue to just disconnect the emergency brake from someones car without telling them about. Secondly they could have just fixed it while they had my car already in there, I would have been happy to pay for it if it was not covered under the cpo warranty, but at least give me the option before disconnecting it. My check engine light also began to come on within a week of the installation of the new engine causing new emissions issues and repairs needed. This car is the definition of a lemon which of course i also purchased here at kempthorn motors. If your thinking of buying a former diselgate car that was bought back by volkswagen, fixed, then resold to the public dont take the chance or be extremely cautious before buying. While Volkswagen may fix the emissions software on these cars, most of them sat in a lot for years before being resold to the public causing numerous other issues that Volkswagen never addresses. On top of all the other issues mine still had emissions issues after the new engine was installed which is pretty scary considering this was a diselgate car that was bought back for emissions issues. After the new engine was installed the check engine light came on and when the diagnostic was done it was determined my car needed a new diesel particulate filter and egr valve which was a 4800 dollar repair. The list of things wrong with this car goes on and on and continues to grow by the day. Never buy a former dieselgate Volkswagen diesel

I was interested in purchasing an as-is 2019 Mazda CX-9
I was interested in purchasing an as-is 2019 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring AWD (Stock #MA00905A) from Kempthorn Motors, but my experience revealed serious issues with transparency and customer service. I asked a simple question about the condition of the tires before making a 3.5-hour trip. Instead of a straightforward answer, the salesperson got defensive, denied any issues, and dismissed my concern. When I escalated to a manager, they never called me back. It took three levels of escalation before I finally spoke with the General Manager. Once I reached the GM, she was professional and confirmed that one of the tires was a different year from the others—proving I was right to question it. However, this raised an even bigger issue: I was initially told there was no problem, yet clearly there was. On top of that, I later confirmed that one tire was brand new while the others were at about 60% tread. Mixing old and new tires on an AWD vehicle is a serious issue—it can lead to drivetrain stress, uneven wear, and expensive repairs. Yet, this concern was completely brushed off. That means either: 1️⃣ I was given inaccurate information, or 2️⃣ The dealership didn’t know what was on their own vehicle. Either way, it’s a major red flag. Selling "as-is" is one thing—misleading customers and making them fight for basic details is another. ⚠ BUYERS BEWARE: Triple-check everything, get proof in writing, and don’t expect clear answers without persistence. UPDATE #1 Kempthorn Motors responded to my original Google review, but instead of addressing anything, they deflected responsibility. They ignored the fact that I was misled and had to escalate repeatedly just to get basic tire details. Their response read like PR damage control, not an actual resolution. Thus I downgraded my review from 2 stars to 1 star. UPDATE #2 After reviewing on BBB, Kempthorn doubled down on avoiding accountability. They dismissed my concerns, claimed I was “confused” because I hadn’t been to the dealership in person, and then outright stated they would disregard any future communication from me. Their response essentially banned me from buying a car from them, simply because I asked for clarity before committing to a long trip. UPDATE #3 Kempthorn has since disabled Facebook reviews and blocked me from their page entirely. Instead of owning up to the situation, they chose to silence feedback—a telling move for any buyer doing their research. 🚨 Final Note: If you want honest, helpful communication during a major purchase, this may not be the place. Ask too many questions, and you'll be ignored, dismissed, and locked out.

I had a great experience with Kempthorn!
I had a great experience with Kempthorn! Rod was excellent and helped us get the vehicle we wanted for the price we needed. We traded in a vehicle and Rod made the process easy and seamless. I drove over 2 hours to go to Kempthorn and would do it again! I will recommend them to everyone!

Overall, a good experience.
Overall, a good experience. I would have given 5 stars if not for a late learning of a small fact that I am not sure the dealership was aware. In the end, I would deal with them again. Bob was incredible in sharing the car’s features.
