Love this car. timeless design, fast, best inline 6 ever made in my opinion. Only negative I have to say while owning one is the price of repairs. But that comes with any older euro car. I would buy another one.

Runs great and very clean. Handles like a dream and is very fast. Leaves my Porsche 911 in the dust, and moving through the gears is a joy!

I kept it in perfect shape and have all major service recently completed since I was going to keep it. It is ready to go another 200k miles.

Fast fun handles great most bang for the buck previously owning a 911 I was pleasantly surprised at how well it handled as I drive the car to its limits on the street like someone would on race track ! Buy one you wont be disappointed ...

As a daily commute vehicle, the main maintenance costs that came from the vehicle was the purchase of new tires. The vehicle is very torquey, so that is most likely my only maintenance cost besides the regular oil changes. Best thing about this vehicle, it does have all maintenance records dating back to 2004 when the vehicle was purchased.

We bought our '04 M3 convertible with SMG transmission in 2013 when it was 9 yrs old. One owner beauty at the BMW dealership. It had 45,000 miles. We've put 30,000 additional miles on it since then. The only problem we had, and I expected to have at some point was an SMG hydro pump failure. We had it replaced at a reputable garage for $3500 vs $5200 at the dealership. A loose transaxel was replaced at the same time for $800. Other than that. The car has performed flawlessly and still looks like it's nearly new. We enjoy the SMG as my wife doesn't drive a manual. The look is a timeless classic with a traditional straight 6. We will probably NEVER sell the car. If you are looking for one, try to buy only from a certified BMW dealer as it will have been looked over pretty well.

It was more about balance and handling and an “all things to all people” way of design that put BMW at the pinnacle and was the definition of “The Ultimate Driving Machine”. The E46 M3 is fast, stylish, comfortable and as far as other performance oriented cars of this time go, dependable. The dependability relies on how you maintain it. This isn’t a car that tolerated neglect. You show it love, it will love you back and spoil you with it’s linear acceleration and beautiful exhaust note for years to come. Someday when your children’s children are asking you what cars you’ve owned. Do you want to reminisce about the Camry or the E46 M3? You only live once. Own one of these in your lifetime.

If you like to drive and appreciate performance this is the car. Plenty of power and handles like a dream. You will go looking for twisty mountain roads to have some fun
