Was I dumb to buy this car?
I can't beleive I sold my 2004 Murano and added $21k to buy this 2008BMW-X3. Everything about this car is annoying: -The door opens to my face (pay attention to the shape of the door). -The seats are so uncomfortable that every 40 minutes I have to stop and take a walk. -Lots of squeeks and noise inside, even when the steering wheel turns it makes noise! what a luxury! -The loose feel of so-called servotronic steering wheel is redicilusly paireded with sports suspension -The headlight washer doesn't have a separate control, every few times you wash winshield, it activates and when it does it sprays all over the hood and adjacent cars and dealer cannot fix it; for god sake I don't want this feature just disable it, they cannot!! -Winshield wiper made horrific noise and couldn't even wipe!! After few trips to dealership and changing the inserts twice, finally they changed the arms and now problem is fixed, what a luxury!!!! -Gas-mileage is terrible. On my all-wheel drive Murano I was getting about 19-20mpg on my mostly city driving now I get 17-18mpg. -Now the tire pressure alarm has come out even though the tire pressures are correct, now I have to spend another weekend at the dealership to have this fixed; oh but I will have the window fixed too (the one-shut button moves the driver side window half up then it returns back down unless you keep holding the button, what a luxury!!!) -Transmission when downshifts in uphills it jumps the car forward, you'll get used to it but it is a clear indication that you are not completely in control in this car. -I have had the car for three months and have added 2000 miles so far.

Great small SUV
My 2006 X3 has been very reliable and the handling and performance have been excellent. I sometimes forget that I'm in an SUV and not a sedan. The gas mileage has been great. I have had very minimal problems with my X3, and most of the time, it's been covered under warranty. the cost of ownership has been very low so far and I'm just about to roll over to 100,000 miles. The rear seat is a little tight, especially if you need to fit a rear-facing infant car seat behind the driver. I love the fact that the floor of the cargo area pulls out so you can flip it over the a hard plastic surface in case you are transporting something messy and don't want to worry about soiling the carpet. I only wish my model had the heated steering wheel and an MP3 adapter. I'll likely trade mine in for another X3 if not an X5.

waste of money
Very excited to buy this car. Brand new with 16 miles off the lot. Car's transmision broke at mile 200!! Keeps giving problems. AC smells bab, dealer said "is normal". Gear shifting is not smooth. Wiper solution's smell leaks through the car. Light sensors turn on for no reason. Moon roof broken.

Puts the Sport in SUV
Bought silver gray w tan/black interior that was dealer loaner, Premium and Sport packages with 10,000 miles for $12,500 less than original sticker. I really like the look of the sport package with the color coordinated bumpers and wheel well trim vs the black on the standard model. The ride is firm but I expected that. The firmness of the suspension pairs nicely with the solid grounded feel. I had driven just about every compact SUV on the market and a few mid-size and really like the overall handling and road feel of the X3. Anything else that I would have considered Q5, GLK, XC60 are only available new and would have been 10K more. After a month I am really pleased with the vehicle and LOVE the look inside and out. Fuel efficiency isn't great but I have gotten 17+ mpg with all city/suburban driving so 24 plus on the highway seems achievable. There is a slight stutter from a standstill if you have a light foot. I tend to sprint from the start and the transmission stutter doesn't occur. Very pleased with my purchase!

Best small SUV on the Australian market
The car's handling on outback roads, together with the performance and low fuel consumption of the 2 litre diesel motor, make this car an excellent touring choice.
